Perfect 4-1-2-2-1 My Last Hurrah

Yeah, seem to get more cards but it does work. Would reccomend the tactic to anybody, most defensively solid tactic on here if you play it right. Not to mention I've scored over 110 goals in the league

Thanks man, I should update the OP at some stage, but I still cannot post how i'd like to so I don't think it would look any better. Anyway, might be worth keeping it under SI's radar this way, although I think we are going to see significant changes in the next patch.

Yeah probably, they change something drastic every time and all working tactics end up absolutely useless.

Looks good off the bat so far. I was wary of the BWM as I like my DM's to stick in front of the defence rather than close down, but he seems to stick fairly close to the midfield and manages to break up a lot of breaks before they begin. I also changed one wing to an IF as I have Lamela playing on the right. I don't think it changes things too much apart from he drives infield rather than down the wing...

also, just wondering; do you not concede from long balls with the d-line high? Do you change the d-line deeper to counter this? Do you change tempo to match the game at all eg.players getting closed down too quick?

Edit: Experimenting a little with the DMC as a DM (D) with closing down less. I want the back 3 (DC's/DM) to operate together

The consistency of this tactic is what I think makes it better than any other. You are rarely if ever outplayed and even then you will usually find that you only look outplayed because the AI had so many rebounds. If you change stuff and it makes it even more consistent then I commend you and hope you share your improvements. It is starting to look like being so aggressive at home with a really poor team(Burnley) might just be a step too far.

Murdered City away though, knocking them off the top.

Made a couple of small tweaks defensively and would like you to try them as the creator to get your thoughts. Changed the DMC to DM (defend) with close down less and ticked close down less for FB's. Wanted the defence/DM to keep their shape a bit more

I'm in the middle of my Burnley test right now, but could do a mini test when the season is over. I have previously tried the DM(defend) option as it was the only annoying weakness, but I lost consistency overall. If your changes do in fact what you say and keep their shape more then that's good, as long as it takes nothing away from what the fullbacks offer going forward. Could you do a test? same team, same fixtures and show your results? If there are significant differences then its obviously worth the tweak.

I'm playing with Spurs at the moment (as I only really play with Spurs), but I am finding it to be even more solid. As far as the FB's; I just found them rushing out to close down opp FB's when the wingers had chased the ball elsewhere, and leaving too much space at the back for a ball behind. I'm personally trying to create it for the DMC to protect the pocket, the FB's/wingers to protect just the wing and not chase inside and the CM's to just chase the ball down. Ideally I'd want the CM's to press the midfield and the DMC to mark runners in behind that. I think having FB's/wingers/DMC on close down less might achieve this?

The DMC seems a very tricky position to balance in this version. How do you test tactics out quickly? I like to watch the full match but it takes too long for a quick test. I'm guessing you test in FMC

Can you tell me what the players you've chosen in what positions and I'll do a test when I get home ;)

I have been using this tactic for about 2 months ingame now, and I'm impressed with how well it plays! I have not lost a single match since I started using it, and the way my Valencia team plays is so delicious to watch :D
I was not totally happy with the way my team performed with my previous used tactic, but with this I go into every match feeling very comfortable. And the best part is that every single player in my team performs well with different goalscorers and usually ends up with a 7+ rating after each match.
I have provided a SS down below. I started using the tactic before entering the match against Athletic Bilbao at home on the 8th November 2014.
I hope this tactic will work for a long time to come ;)

Doing the test with Burnley and I have to say I'm FMC and instant on the results. Been playing a test where I made changes through the pre-season and played each game 3 times to test for any consistency. I've made my changes with fb's/DMC on close down less and DMC on defend, I also found that ticking tighter marking, play offside trap and prevent short goal kicks gave consistency. I also played around with drop deeper and leaving it at high d-line. I've drop deeper to be more consistent and give very interesting results in first league game against Liverpool;

higher d-line: 2-2, 2-1 (Liverpool), 3-1 (Liverool), 2-1 (Lverpool)

drop deeper: 0-0, 0-0, 0-0, 2-0 (Burnley)

drop deeper gt the win but obviously this would not always be the case against Liverpool. The important thing was t seemed consistent

ill continue to test. It's also worth ponting out I 'quick pick' team

Liverpool game was at home. Against Aston Villa away (with drop deeper);

0-0, 1-0 Burnley, 1-0 (Villa (own goal)

Morecambe (a) Capital Cup;

3-0 (Burnley), 4-0 (Burnley), 2-1 (Burnley)

QPR (H) 3-1 (Burnley), 1-1, 0-0

Arsenal (A) 1-0 (Arsenal), 1-0 (Burnley), 2-1 (Arsenal)

So to total up in a 5 game test;

Played: 16, Won: 7, Lost: 3, Draw: 6, Goals: 18, Against: 6, GD: 12

haha this games so weird. Just tried it again and lost 3-0 Liverpool, lost 2-0 Villa, won 5-0 Morecambe, lost 3-2 QPR and WON Arsenal 3-1....so 3 lose, 2 win, 10 goals and 9 against.

Villa - 1-0 W
