I do notice that my right and left FB's take an awful lot of shots rather than crossing the face of goal. That annoys me and I can't seem to change it. I'm using TFF's abomination at the moment which seems to work quite well. Struggling to tweak it to make it more killer ballish.
Can you get some screenshots up of the team instructions and and custom player instructions. Disclaimer: Not saying the game is perfect (it isn't) but screenshots like that if they happen consistently against away sides parking the bus are symptomatic of tactical issues.

The result I was speaking about earlier wasn't mine. However I'll drag some SS up of my results. The thing that is weird is the same tactic with under 21's and under 18s is regularly providing 3,4 or even 5 goals per game wins.

I know, I'm just saying. Im quite curious about the number of shots your full backs take though

Just reviewed the matches, and I believe that they were actually trying to cross, they just looked like shots. (Both have 15+ crossing).

However my point remains about converting chances to goals. I just can't seem to do it. Here is a result example, and my setup.

BTW Kondogbia = excellent DM buy.... :D

For those discussing the constant "woodwork" thing: OptaJoe have just tweeted that Liverpool have hit the woodwork 25 times this season, more than any other team.

I think I figured out a way to deal with this. Refuse to put them on the transfer list as that means they will not be put on the list as 'req' which you cannot change. And instead put them on the transfer list after you have refused to. And then they will carry on playing and be happy, but put the price high and refuse any bids and eventually take them off the list and they remain happy and you do not lose the player.

client not interested

Hi, I seem to running into this problem often... so I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone else was having the same problem...

I'm playing as Manchester United and I've just won the CL in my third season... I've made an offer for Mateo Kovacic, which was accepted by the club. However the agent responds with "My client isn't currently interested in entering into contract negotiations".

I know for a fact that he is interested in a transfer (have been scouting him for a year), he has got a year left on his deal and openly says that it would be a dream to play for the club...

Funny thing is that this happened in the last transfer window as well... with TWO players... Bernard and Muniain... I found it strange at the time but I went on to sign someone else...

Is this a know bug? Because I cant figure out why this would keep happening?

any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

have to be honest, I have no idea what this tactic is trying to achieve. Can you talk me through it? seems all over the place.

It is TTF_Abomination (Total Football Fan's tactic). Seems to work well. The AP is the main goalscoring threat it transpires in this one.

Essentially it brings the opposition out of shape and generally goals are scored from crosses, or by the hole created by this tactic which the AP then runs into with the ball and shoots.

My problem is that he always shoots from the edge or just outside the box and I want him to take it into the box.

I have to say the new training thing does frustrate me. Not being able to do groups is slightly irking. That said it would be cool if you could assign your AssMan for some individual training and take care of the others yourself.

will give you some proper thoughts tomorrow, as its my day off then.

6 CCCs into 2 goals, that's a good result imo since you're playing attacking football.

Rarely do I ever get more than 33% conversion when attacking, like the game below. Only when I play a counter-attacking strategy do I get much lower CCC but high % conversion.

You do know that reality in other countries is very different, right ?

I still don't understand when people tries to justify things in FM they always go for examples in the EPL. Since when does the EPL represents the reality of football beyond the UK ??? It doesn't.

Also, SI has made it clear that some shots that were intended to be off target hit woodwork. It's only if you see woodwork hit in "key" highlights and it's not a cross, that the shot was genuinely intended for woodwork.

Addictiveness of this game is massive, people vent their frustration (which also happen in real life football) by blaming match engine and SI. Just like Arsene Wenger would, if he could.

This is probably the most myopic post yet. I posted it because I follow the EPL on twitter. It was a throw away comment, neither condemning nor venerating the number of woodwork hits in the game. Just an observation.

Oh, and whilst YOU may not play a team in the EPL/BPL, I, and many others do. So for those people, it IS relevant.

The thing is, mate, that they had 1 shot on goal and managed to score with that one shot. As I said in my earlier post, I think most of my (and other's) frustrations are born out of the conversion rate discrepancy between my team and the AI team. It seems they need a lot less chances to score than we do.

When watching the game, they always get into the box, cross across the goal (a la Arsenal of about 5 years ago) and someone taps it in.

With my team, and contrary to all instruction, my players shoot from the edge of the box, even when one on one and have go around keeper PPM.

Basically, whatever the reasons, my team needs 30 more chances than them to score the same amount of goals.

Oh, and that is Counter Attacking :D

Have you see the IRL BPL table? *trollface*

Yeah, because Manchester United have been this way from the past 25 years right? Lol. **** tactics and period of adjustment mean this season is horribad, but we're still the best away team, and the best English side in CL. I still don't understand the weird, idiotic news report by S.I >_>

We've been lucky the last few years. We aren't the best English side in the CL, clearly Chelsea are better than us in terms of local league placing. I was also trolling you :D

That aside there are many things in the day to day running of the club that do crop up as annoyances. Such as being asked by a disgruntled, want-away, player when we are going to compete for the CL title, even though we have won it for the last two years running and are current holders.
