I love the golden oldies. Especially in the lower leagues, like Litmanen/Blanco etc. Some have insane Mental stats. Managed to snag RvP and Podolski when I got promoted to the prem on super low ''player/staff'' wages, they both are still pretty effective even just for their experience. Got Angelo Palombo when I got to the championship, was awesome. Currently trying to get a 34 year old Ibrahimovic, 33 year old Tevez and a 35 year old Vidic!
I had Litmanen in my team. Technically still got him but he's retiring at the end o the season. He's done well for me though. Melchiot and Carew both did well for me in the lower leagues too. Love getting the old players who can still cut it :)

Yeah, i would really like to take a low end side like mansfield myself to glory (as a liverpool fan i like mansfield) unfortunately i havent really played too much of fm13 as the game runs to slow on my pc, but i am getting a pretty beast pc tomorrow actually, so i will deffinately play it alot more, and Benito Cannone looks like a real amazing gem of a find. Oh and please the next time you post pics of players, would you care to include the attribute graph? it makes it alot easier getting a nice perspective over what the player is like :)
Oh and also, i totally get what you mean when you say that you get attached to players, i will always remember some of the regens from my fm12 save like my homegrown Paul Williams that came from liverpool and was basically the spawn og Gerrard and also at 17 years old how he won me the champions league by scoring a goal in the 93rd minute

I always played as Spurs as I support em, or teams like Fiorentina/Villareal on my old laptop/pc combo I had for the same reason as you. Could run England/Spain/Italy top league at a stretch. Think I played one career as Notts Forest but that's it. I got a new desktop and a laptop (which is the missus's but..we share it ha) and now I love lower league games. My missus's best mate's boyfriend (mouthful) and her brother love FM, whenever we go visit or have a little weekend getaway I'll take the laptop and we'll start a lower league game each. Thats how this started, a race to the Champions League... I got Mansfield, he is Halifax town haha :)

I always get attached to my regens, even have a little ''back-story'' in my head and what type of player they're like on the pitch (e.g how they run/dribble/shoot). I even make the mistake of thinking regens are actually real life players and I googled one once and found a dude on Facebook with his name....was so tempted to say ''DUDE YOU'RE MY REGEN'' haha!!

I had Melchiot too, solid at that level. Here's my 'transfers in' in my first Blue Sq season. Fode Mansare is a club legend and still made the odd appearence in the Championship. Eric Addo was a beast, as was Yildirm even just for his set pieces. Also signed Sbaffo who didn't arrive till League 2 - he's still in my reserves/on loan for some reason but making me a cool 50k a month loan fee which is covering me having Lars Bender on loan haha. Decent player till League 1/Championship back-up but is banned till 2013/2014 because of the italian match fixing.

I'd recommend any of them for Blue Sq/League 2

Sounds like good fun and a challenge getting a bunch of no-hopers into the ECL. I reckon I'm going to have a go once I get this season out of the way. I'm currently 3rd in the championship, 1 point behind 2nd place, with 9 games left. Hoping to get back to back promotions, League 1 to Premiership in 2 seasons. If I get to the Prem I reckon I'll put this one on hold, at least until this ME fix comes out, and pick a Blue Square team to work my magic on!

Just led Charlton to 6th place in the championship in the first season with 0 budget. Okay it's not that good but I was proud of it :) If I win the playoffs I won't know whether to **** or spam this thread. Will probably do both.

Update on my Mansfield side....first experience in the Prem and we've played amazingly well and find ourselves in 7th, one point behind Newcastle. I honestly expected to be around the bottom half, mid table if we had a good run but we've played above what I expected. I'm chuffed to bits because my tactics are working well and i'm not only winning but controlling games (0-0 v Liverpool I had 60% possession and double the shots!) Here is our run in to secure a Europa spot and Mansfields first European experience....it's going down to the wire!! (i wish i'd youtubed this save!)

Could you get any closer?? Both of us playing the top 4 teams! I can't call it...

Playing my usual mind games and morale boosting so decide to call a team meeting. 7th place, first Prem season, 7 games unbeaten and Lars Bender decides to disagree with Cana about us playing well. WHY!

Well, we didn't get a Europa spot, but I'm still proud with our top half finish. All we need is a striker who can come straight in and put away some goals as 19 year old regen Lynch led the line and must not be that consistant as he went 17 games without scoring at one point. 10m budget isn't too bad I guess, Rossi, Tevez and Pato are all leaving on frees but aren't interested in coming. FML. It's all I need to take the club to the next level and a free would be perfect so I can keep the 10m for my facilities! A long summer of tapping up is in order I think..The club made a cool 22m profit though, once we move back into our stadium I fear we'll lose a ton of match day revenue as it's 12,500 max and we were pulling in crowds of 20-25,000 at Sheff Utd's ground + we know how tight the board is when it comes to stadiums (think I won the Prem and Champions league before my Fleetwood board considered even expanding!)

I may part with Willian if I get a bid over 25m +, he wants a new contract and I refuse to break my wage structure, same with Berto who is valued at 10.5m now.

That was f***ing close...

Edit:

Next match I just played:

2nd leg of Champions League Semi Final. That was one of the longest matches I've ever played. All those conditions... My regen was %50 at extra time and he was still attacking like mad! ****. And what about Angelo Henriquez? I chose this guy as starting eleven unlike my Tottenham match and he, sir, deserved the **** out of it. I'm in the final again!

Edit 2:

Now that one is interesting. Four matches before league end, i drew Away Burnley 2-2, who's 10th, then i did even worse and lost to Crystal Palace Away 1-0, who's 18th... So I'm suddenly 3rd with a match less. And can you guess my next opponent? Chelsea! They're 5th. I'm at home this time. I unintentionally couple of times said before the match "oh we're f*ckd, we're f*ckd" when i saw who was the oppponent... And here is the result for you... (6)

I guess that's what you call "decharge"... (6)

I would say this has been a rather successful transfer window so far strengthening the team and adding depth. Had a offer accepted for Busquets (15m @ 29 years old...hmm) , Papiss Cisse (2.5m at 32 for backup) and Kyle Walker (9m @ 27) but i'm not breaking the wage budget...Busquets wanted 100k + bonuses!

Took a gamble on Pato with his injuries and natural fitness, he accepted 35k and Rotation which suits me, anything above that I'd have said no (he wanted First team and 100k straight after he was released). Ivanovic offers some good cover with prem experience and a tutoring option and I'm suprised Nastasic was released as he has leading prem potential, is only 24 and had a 7.30 rating over 16 games for City last season! Jack Robinson comes in as a solid, English cover @ LB/RB which is always handy. Just signed Gomes on a free as some GK back up too.

Here's the regens. I'm excited by the CB, and couldn't say no to a 4 1/2 star LB brazillian regen even though i've got a 5* 19 year old there already. Rotation.

I am currently managing Accrington Stanley and helped them with multiple back to back promotions and am now currently on my 5th season with them.

1st Season: Won League 2
2nd Season: Promoted after winning the playoffs in League 1
3rd Season: Finished 2nd in the Championship
4th Season: Finished 9th overall in the Premier League.
5th Season: In progress

Here is a link if anyone would like to see screenshots of my Accrington Progress:

In addition the players that I have in my squad are very mediocre. As I only spent 10k on transfers in the first three seasons; I did not get any well known free transfer players as my team just could not attract these type of players.

The Mighty Blades are back where they belong after back-to-back promotions, leaving the "massive" Owls behind, languishing in the bottom half of the Championship!

For this I have to give thanks to TBH. A tweaked version of his Split 4-5-1 tactic has worked wonders for me!

^ ^

Meh. I'm not hurt. Gives me crumbs of comfort knowing the fact the only way Liverpool can beat Everton is in a simulation game (6)

Heh. I tried the 3-6-1 formation for the first time. Worked a bit better than I expected...
