What high profile Prisoners do you think have paid there debt to society and they should be released.

I have 2 to put to this list

Charles Bronson - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Bronson_(prisoner) He was jailed for a robbery which he took £26.50, sentenced to 7 years. After a short spell of being free, he committed robbery again, been imprisoned ever since.
He has been in jail for a total of 34 years, and 30 of those years are in solitary confinement.

this man has never harmed a child, harmed a woman, killed anyone .......so why has he served a longer more tough sentence than murderers, pedophiles, rapists etc.
People like Ian Brady and the Yorkshire Ripper have an easier past 30 years than Bronson and there crimes were more horrific

Mark David Chapman - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_David_Chapman - John Lennon's killer, he murdered John Lennon in 1980, sentenced to 20 years and yet, 30 years later he is still behind bars.

Both of these men still behind bars is perfect example of how our and USA justice system is working, not very well or consistent

Most of prisoners should not be free, they have been locked for a reason.

nope both useless and they should only be let out when they are in a box, simple as that. but the justice system is **** anyway it needs to be more consistant.

How can you say that a murderer should be freed?

Murderers should never be freed. He took someones life, the only punishment for that is for him to have no life either. He should remain under lock and key until the day he dies!

Totally agree. Murderers should do life. Life should mean LIFE, which it does in America, not a few years then release for good behaviour

They should be locking more people up, not letting them out (I could go into far more detail but I'm busy watching England)

have you just opened this to spark a reaction from people? what about those who are currently convicted on flimsy evidence, why not post some of them up?

that man isnt going to come back from the dead after 20 years is he? hes gone for life, so let the prisoner rot for life.

Be realistic, in todays age you rarely get a LIFE sentence meaning LIFE, its often 15 + years. That depending on what state in USA, or in UK.
My point is many people who have killed serve there time, and come out rehabilitated, but in Chapman's case they are keeping a rehabilitated man behind bars solely on the reason it was Lennon.

So you dont believe in second chances?

That's not the sole reason. Maybe they are keeping him in because they feel he is still a danger to society. After all, he did kill someone who he claimed to be a fan of?

You don't know the things he says while he's in prison to people, or things he's done. He should stay there until he lives in a coffin and no sooner.

God forbid it ever happens, but if someone murdered someone you love, whether it be a child of yours, or a lover or whatever, you would want that person to feel your pain. You would want them dead, or to serve life imprisonment, where life means life. Just because you may have not felt any pain from John Lennon's death doesn't mean others didn't. He was a very well loved man. All those close to him would want the man to die for what he's done and it's only fair he gets the punishment he deserves.. death.

In some countries, they chop off someone hands if they are convicted of stealing. Or chop off a man's ***** if he is convicted of rape. Things like that, may be harsh but they are deserved because of the crime they have committed. You will never know the pain people go through until it effects you personally.

So you dont believe in second chances?

I believe in second chances, but it depends entirely on why you lost your first chance to begin with. Anyone who has the audacity to take someone's life, doesn't deserve to have a life themselves. Simple as that.

You only get one chance in life, some people don't deserve another chance (murderers, paedos ect), but honestly 30 years for stealing is a bit too far.

Yes it is a bit too much, but he was the cause of the increase. The article says that he was aggressive to other inmates, therefore increasing his sentance

Fair enough.

Didn't read that bit, still ranting about ****** scotland

I believe in second chances, but not when you have ended a life intentionally. Did the victim of the murder get a second chance at life ?
