After a horrific return to the premier league, relegated Reading have decided to sack manager Nigel Adkins who has only been in charge of the club for half a season. The Royal's board have decided to bring in the relatively unknown manager M.Stirk.
In a Press Conference the new manager stated that he would reinvigorate Reading and ensure that they could bounce back to the premier league at the first time of asking.

During the Press Conference, Stirk automatically picked out areas for improvement, he claimed that new wing backs and attacking midfielders were a necessity for the club. He also believed that depth in the centre back role would be necessary.

PRE-SEASON.
View attachment 372576

I used the team that I would start the season with throughout pre-season, I thought that this would give them time to get used to the tactic and each other, and by the brilliant pre-season results, it seemed to work almost immediately.
The stand out pre-season performer was definitely Pogrebnyak, he managed to score 5 goals in the 7 pre-season games.

In the next update I will be showing the august results and my first transfer window signings, some premier league talent coming down.

Transfers:-
Van Aanholt - Season Long Loan.
View attachment 372642
Picked up this youngster on loan as I was short at the Let wing back position.

Glenn Whelan - £3m from Stoke.
View attachment 372645
Was lacking in the central midfield role and he was on the transfer list, thought it would be good to bring in a player of premier league standard.

Simon Vukcevic - Free Transfer.
View attachment 372646

Vukcevic is a experienced player and suits the championship, when/if i get promoted to the premier league i will be hoping to off load him.

Antolin Alcaraz - Free Transfer.
View attachment 372647
After his release from Wigan he was a certain purchase, to bring a player of his quality down to the championship will improve the defense massively.

Luke Young - £2m from QPR.
View attachment 372649
Needed depth at Right Wing Back in case of a injury to Stephen Kelly.

Ikechi Anya - Free from Granada.
View attachment 372650
Brought in as a back up player mainly, probably wont start often.

Convincing win over a team that i thought would be challenging for the title.

Npower Championship.
Charlton 1 - 4 Reading.
Pogrebnyak (3) Vukcevic (61, 83) Whelan (88)
After Pogrebnyak's early goal we never looked like losing.

Drenthe (46) Pogrebnyak (67) Kelly (90)
Kelly managed to grab a late goal to save our blushes against lowly Barnsley.

Npower Championship.
Brighton 2 - 0 Reading.
2 added time Will Hoskins goals really punished us here.

Npower Championship.
Reading 1 - 0 Huddersfield.

Boring victory, should have won by more.

I didn't even place in the top 3 managers of the month, first time this season :(.

December.
We started off December by signing a new assistant manager, here he is...
View attachment 373046

Managed to get the league form back on track.
Despite languishing in the lower table, Wigan prove a stern test.

Npower Championship.
Blackpool 0 - 1 Reading.
Kebe (24)
Kebe scored a first half goal and we seemed to just back off and hold out for the win.

Npower Championship.
Doncaster 0 - 0 Reading.
Bore Draw. Should have done better.

Npower Championship.
Reading 3 - 1 Watford.
Karacan (29) Le Fondre (78,82)
Brought Le Fondre on late and it proved to be a stroke of tactical genius ;)

Pogrebnyak pinched it for us at the end.

Great result to go away to Birmingham who were 2nd at the time and get a win.

Npower Championship.
Reading 0 - 0 Wigan.
Wigan put in such a good defensive display but we did have opportunities.

January.
Transfer Window.

Vaclav Kadlec - £7 million from Sparta Prague.
View attachment 373090
Was placed on the transfer list by request and i got a bit of a cash injection so i decided to pick him up due to his potential.

Ryan Gauld - 525k from Dundee United.
View attachment 373091
His potential just says it all, i couldn't not pick him up.

Lewis Kidd - 750k from Celtic.
View attachment 373092
Got good potential and i needed a bit of depth in the cm role.

Gouriye - Pre-contract from Heracles.
View attachment 373093
Looked like a good signing and I couldn't pass it up when he's on a free.

Estigarribia - Pre-contract from Deportivo Maldonado.
View attachment 373094
With Van Aanholt only in on loan we had to prepare for when he leaves, Estigarribia seems like the perfect replacement.

Npower Championship.
Blackburn 1 - 2 Reading.
Leigertwood (57) Hanley o/g (69)
Leigertwood scored a screamer but we were lucky to win in the end.

F.A Cup.
Liverpool 3 - 2 Reading.
Wisdom o/g (22) Drenthe (36)
We did so well, but with a strike force of Benteke and Suarez coming at us you can see why we lost.

Npower Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 2 Reading.
Drenthe (24) Pearce (33) Young s/o (83)
Despite Young getting sent off we managed to hold out for the victory.

Npower Championship.
Yeovil 0 - 0 Reading.
Bore Draw.

Npower Championship.
Reading 3 - 0 Millwall.
Le Fondre (82) Van Aanholt (84) Vukcevic (85)
3 late goals got us a comfortable win.

Bringing in Bergkamp may make the story more interesting but truth is that his important stats (eg tactics) are lamentable ...
