After a horrific return to the premier league, relegated Reading have decided to sack manager Nigel Adkins who has only been in charge of the club for half a season. The Royal's board have decided to bring in the relatively unknown manager M.Stirk.
In a Press Conference the new manager stated that he would reinvigorate Reading and ensure that they could bounce back to the premier league at the first time of asking.

During the Press Conference, Stirk automatically picked out areas for improvement, he claimed that new wing backs and attacking midfielders were a necessity for the club. He also believed that depth in the centre back role would be necessary.
(I am going to be using LFCmarshall's summer transfer update)

PRE-SEASON.
View attachment 372576

I used the team that I would start the season with throughout pre-season, I thought that this would give them time to get used to the tactic and each other, and by the brilliant pre-season results, it seemed to work almost immediately.
The stand out pre-season performer was definitely Pogrebnyak, he managed to score 5 goals in the 7 pre-season games.

In the next update I will be showing the august results and my first transfer window signings, some premier league talent coming down.

Transfers:-
Van Aanholt - Season Long Loan.
View attachment 372642
Picked up this youngster on loan as I was short at the Let wing back position.

Glenn Whelan - £3m from Stoke.
View attachment 372645
Was lacking in the central midfield role and he was on the transfer list, thought it would be good to bring in a player of premier league standard.

Simon Vukcevic - Free Transfer.
View attachment 372646

Vukcevic is a experienced player and suits the championship, when/if i get promoted to the premier league i will be hoping to off load him.

Antolin Alcaraz - Free Transfer.
View attachment 372647
After his release from Wigan he was a certain purchase, to bring a player of his quality down to the championship will improve the defense massively.

Luke Young - £2m from QPR.
View attachment 372649
Needed depth at Right Wing Back in case of a injury to Stephen Kelly.

Ikechi Anya - Free from Granada.
View attachment 372650
Brought in as a back up player mainly, probably wont start often.

Antolin Alcaraz - Solid month defensively, was simply a rock at the back.

Bringing in Bergkamp may make the story more interesting but truth is that his important stats (eg tactics) are lamentable ...
