After hours of fixing some issues with the database, I am finally proud to announce the start of my new FM21 save with Rudar Breza. We are playing in a world where Yugoslavia has reformed into a single country. Unlike last year's edition of the Yugoslavia database, the league structure is very different with different things occurring across the nation. In this iteration of Yugoslavia, there are 7 tiers of football and every club below the 3rd tier are divided up into their respective socialist republics. Also new to the database is the Republic Cups, a series of knockout tournaments that occur in each of the socialist republics. But enough about the save, we have time to further discuss the Yugoslav football pyramid in FM21.
Here is Rudar Breza's info page.
Thanks to @Heppy91, we have 2D kits for this club. We start out in the 6th tier in the Bosnia-Herzegovina section of the football pyramid, which is the lowest we can go as the 7th tier only has sections for Croatia and Serbia. Anyway as you can see on the right side of the info page, we will be building this club's history right from scratch. We also hold a rivalry against Bosna Visoko, who are our very close neighbors.
This is my manager Jasmin Hodzic, who was born and raised in Germany, but returned to his parent's hometown to lead Rudar Breza to new heights. Every journey must start with a single step, so before we get into July's fixtures, let's look at the rules of our division.
We have 38 games to play this season and we are forbidden to sign anyone from outside the EU. Only the one promotion spot is available to each of the 4 groups at this level, so if we want to get out of this league, we must win the league title. Due to the shortage of free agents available, this might not be as easy as it seems compared to last year, as that edition of Yugoslavia had a lot of free agents to choose from. Speaking of transfers, I will cover them in the next post (which covers August fixtures). Anyway, let's look at the results from July.
League Matchday 1
We opened the campaign with a close 2-1 victory against Ozren Petrovo. We were very good during the first half, but a sending off in the second almost caused us to blow our two goal advantage as they scored with less than 15 minutes left to go. Thankfully, we held on for an opening day victory for myself and the club.
Kup Marshall Tito 1st Round
We were drawn against Dinamo Odranski Obrež, who play in the same tier as us, but in Croatia. We squeaked by with another 2-1 victory, with two goals in 10 minutes in the first half, but conceding in the second. I hope we do better as time goes on.
League Matchday 2
Another away trip, this time to Lijevče Nova Topola, sees us earn our first clean sheet of the save with a big 4-0 victory, with a hattrick from our new signing Brendonis Bala. Thoroughly enjoyed this victory as we were excellent all game.
League Table going into August
Nothing to say here really until August has passed, but I am cautiously optimistic about the how the next couple of months will go.
That's it for the Rudar Breza save. I will return very soon with August fixtures and the summer transfer business.
