Italian Cup Final

San Marino 2 - 1 Lazio
From Olimpico, Rome, Att:-72698
Bernacci (47, 70)
Matuzalem (23)
festeggiasololalazio_251429.jpg

The whole country must've traveled to Rome to see their team play tonight. It was a very tense affair, and only after six minutes, a fiery Lazio were down to ten men after Hernanes was sent off for a terrible elbow on Mutu.
But it was Lazio who controlled the game, unlucky to go in at half time 1 up, Matuzalem heading home after 23 minutes.
But San Marino made their extra number count, and were more attacking in the second half, with Bernacci scoring 2 minutes into the second half. Both teams traded blows and on 70 minutes, Bernacci found himself one on one with the keeper, and San Marino's man of the season slipped the ball through the keepers legs and into the net.
For the next 20 minutes, Lazio were relentless but couldn't find away to score. San Marino had done it, they had won their first ever Italian cup. And they qualified for Europe

Next update will be up sometime near lunchtime.....just to let you know, half the team has left becsuase contracts have run out, more on that tomorrow.....plus some HUGE signings, most on loan and free transfers, but huge non the less

San Marino announce transfer goals for the coming season.

money-1.jpg

San Marino's board have announced today that there will have to be a major re-shuffle of the club. They stated that it was an amazing achievement to get to Serie A, after 3 consecutive promotions.
They announced that the club has never been so rich, but at the same time, it is nothing compared to what established Serie A teams can afford. They have said that the majority of their budget will be ploughed into wage budget, whilst Player sales will have to generate money for the transfer budget.
They stated that they've already asked Mr Drezzy to scour the free agent and loan network, as it is their belief that there are sufficient playing staff to join San Marino from these Markets.

Serie A Title Odds

legaseriea.jpg

Today, the title odds for Serie A were released. Juventus are 5-1 favourites to win the league this season, with current champions Napoli 6-1. Roma (12-1), A.C. Milan (12-1) and Inter Milan (14-1) also find them selves in the running.
Catania are considered as out side bets for the league, priced at 20-1 to win thel eague this season.
How ever, the biggest odds in Italian history have also shocked the country of San Marino, who are 5000-1 to win the league. This surely indicates that no one gives them a chance this season

Yeah, some good transfers.....Hoping to keep Eto for a couple of seasons to help the transition...It's amazing how low their wages are when they are free agents.

Some brilliant signings, and the massive TV deals in Serie A means you will just keep on improving. Do you have any decent San Marinese players coming through the academy yet?

Serie A champions Napoli took on Cup winners and Serie B champions, San Marino, in the Italian Super cup today.
And it was Napoli who were off to a flying start, scoring in the first 4 minutes courtesy of a Denis goal. Napoli continued to pile on the pressure, and San Marino didn't know what to do, Riviere curling in a free kick just before the half an hour mark. Then, Denis popped up again heading Napoli to a 3-0 lead. San Marino were in tatters.
But after the break, Sanchez gave San Marino some hope when he bundled home a lose ball, and on 63 minutes one of his shots deflected to bring San Marino within 1 goal of Napoli. Then, a few minutes later, Eto'o found himself one on one with the keeper, and he netted his debut goal for San Marino, it was 3-3.
San Marino held on, almost conceding near the end. Then San Marino were down to ten men as Koscielny limped off injured, and San Marino were down to 10 men. The game looked to be going into extra time when Vincent Kompany was the last man, and he hacked down Denis. He was given his marching orders and San Marino had to face a further 30 minutes with just 9 men.
Napoli battered the San Marino defence, but some how they stood firm until Paulo Henrique scored, and Napoli thought they had secured a win. But San Marino broke away, with Adriano getting taken down in the box, but replays show he dived. Non the less, it was a penalty and Pandev tucked the ball into the right hand corner, 4-4 on the night.
Napoli continued to attack but San Marino stuck all 9 men behind the ball and found them difficult to break down. the match went to penalties.

Napioli started of the shoot out and Lavezzi scored, sending the keeper the wrong way.
Then Adriano stepped up, blasting the ball down the middle 1-1

Luca Cigarino was up next, smashing the ball to the right, hitting the post but the ball went into the net.
Then Samuel Eto'o stood tall but smashed the ball over the bar, 2-1 to Napoli

Henrique then Blasted the ball against the left post to give San Marino a route back into the game. Pandev then stood up to take his second of the night, cooly finishing to the keepers left. 2-2

Then Emmanuel Riviere was up next, and he tried chipping the ball, but the San Marino keeper easily caught it, still 2-2.
Walcott was up next and he blasted the ball under the keeper, San Marino lead 3-2

Kesimal was up next and needed to score but he blasted the ball wide, and San Marino won the shoot out 3-2.....San Marino are your Super Cup Champions
