Just been a patch and my old save game works now
Same for me. Didn't notice it updating when I started Steam but figured I'd give it a shot and it works now.
Although now I'm tempted to continue the save I started last night because I was given a great wage budget and signed good coaches at AFC Wimbledon . . .
Well I guess I can always go to that one when my current save gets corrupted :/
