After a succesful 3 year spell at Fulham the board has today announced that Jake Hopper is leaving after receiving an offer he simply couldn't refuse. The fans are said to be devastated as they really thought they were going places with Hopper in charge, but with him all the best and thank him for taking their club forward.
HOPPER SIGNS FOR MAN UNITED
Jake Hopper has today been unveiled as the new manager of struggling and under achieving Manchester United. Having finished 9th last season and not winning any silverware since the 08/09 season, Jake Hopper is the man the board think is right to take them back to where they belong.
Hopper made no hesitations in telling the players who he thought was good enough and who wasn't to be wearing the proud shirt of Manchester United, with Kuszcak, Park, Upson and Berbatov all being shown the exit door.
He then brought in some faces from former club Fulham, spending £44.5m on what he believes are 3 players who will take United back to the top. These deals also involved O'Shea and De Laet going the other way, with Hopper saying they had no future at the club whilst he was in charge. Also arriving was Stekelenburg, an experienced goalkeeper who can reaplce Edwin Van Der Sar, who recently retired. He was brought in on a free transfer from Ajax.

The squad now looks capable of competing for the title again, with no European competition this season they have a big enough squad to rest up players when needed. The squad also has a good blend of youth and experience, with youngsters such as Welbeck, Tosic, Obertan, Rafael and Jonny Evans looking like being integral parts of the team this season.
United's first game of the season was perhaps the trickiest, a short trip accross the city to Eastland. It was certainly going to be a tough challenge considering the squad are still are getting used to their new manager and philosiphy. City are tipped to win the league this season, with United tipped for 6th position.
Man City 3 - 1 Man United (Macheda)
United went 3-0 down in this game with City injuring 4 players before half time. Although these were only light injuries, 2 of the players had to be replaced instantly and another at half time. We had our chances and perhaps on another day we could have picked up some points here. However, the manager is not too disheartened as the team performed well, and if they continue to play like this they will certainly show people they have better chances of winning the title than the 33/1 quoted at the start of the season.
Birmingham 1 - 2 Man United (Tosic, Pearce O.G.)
United were comfortable in this game until Birmingham pulled one back in the 87th minute. Was a tense end to the game but United managed to see it out for the first 3 points of the season.
Man of the Match : Zoran Tosic (1 goal + 1 assist)
Carlisle 1 - 6 Man United (Welbeck x3, Ferdinand, Anderson, Nani)
League Cup 2nd Round
Dominant display from the former champions and goals from all over the pitch showed the manager he has a great team. Five goals to one up at half time, the manager chose to relax second half and not risk players getting injured with Carlisle's tempers flaring up after being humiliated.
Man of the match : Danny Welbeck (3 goals)
Man United 4 - 1 Wigan (Evra, Milevskyi, Vidic, Ferdinand)
3 goals from 4 of the defenders in todays game proved Hoppers tactics for set pieces are working again. Milevskyi also got his first goal for his new club in front of the home fans.
Man of the match : Patrice Evra (1 goal and 1 assist)
Man United 2 - 0 Stoke (Milevskyi x2)
First clean sheet of the season as United again dominated a weaker opposition.
Man of the Match : Milevskyi (2 goals)
Ipswich 0 - 2 Man United (Rooney, Welbeck)
First goal of the season for Rooney and strike partner Welbeck also got on the scoresheet. Again dominated the match having 19 shots in total.
Man of the match : Rooney (1 goal)
Man United 2 - 1 Chelsea (Evra, Ferdinand)
Patrice Evra gave Man United an early lead in this game and United looked comfortable from there on controlling possesion and limiting Chelseas attacking threats. However, as usual, Football Manager decided to gift Chelsea a goal in the 80th minute through Bosingwa. But to the delight of the home crowd, just when they were listening for the final whistle and preparing to leave the stadium, Ferdinand headed home from a free-kick to give United the 3 points and a massive early season victory over potential title rivals.
Man of the match : Patrice Evra (1 goal)
United have been pretty solid at the back, only conceding a maximum of 1 goal in a game since the opening day, and have been scoring for fun with 19 in 7 matches.
Top scorer so far : Danny Welbeck (4)
Top assists so far : Cesar Azpilicueta (4)
Top average rating : Anderson (7.44 - 1 goal and 2 assists)
Almost forgot ! As well as being offered the Man United job in the summer, I was also offered the England Job after they crashed out of the Euro's in the 1/4 finals. Despite being Welsh, this challenge was too good to refuse. I am going to remove any players over the age of 32 steadily, as I do not want to disrupt the balance too much. My aim is to have a squad under the age of 28 by the time the World Cup comes around in 2014.
Only played the 1 game so far, away to San Marino, and we comfortably came away with the 3 points thanks to goals from Agbonlahor and Gerrard. Also I gave first caps to Jonjo Shelvey, Rodwell, Cork, Shawcross and Vaughan and will look to keep them around the first team now they have been introduced.
I think by the time the World Cup 2014 comes around, I will certainly have a squad capable of going far, hopefully with Wilshere and the likes reaching their maximum potential.
Thanks for reading, I hope you will follow !
