The Highs
First of all, Scotland played in the World Cup 2014 and made it the Quarter Finals. What a great result. Sadly they were defeated by Sweden 2 -1.
As for domestically,it has to be Glenrothes. To go from a semi-professional Division 1 outfit to runners up in the SPL1, playing for a place in Europe and attracting some good talent to the club.
Celtic have faired very well in the new Football League, they still sit as Scotland's richest club. But Hibernian, Aberdeen, Falkirk and Dundee Utd have all celebrated some financial success. The new Cup prize money system means the winner of the Scottish Cup will receive £25M and Super Cup, £50M. Here are all the Cup winners for the past five years:

The Lows
It has to be Hibs. They feature in The Highs but the double Scottish Cup win was viewed by some as a curse as they plummeted down the leagues to Championship status. Sadly, they failed to win promotion from the Championship as Hibs reached the playoffs last season.
Rangers have failed to win the league for the last three years as Celtic hit three in a row. Many Rangers fans are not used to laying down to Celtic but the Bhoy's squad is very, very good.
Developments
A lot of money has been spend on upgrading facilities. Most SPL1 clubs have great youth facilities and academies. This has produced a few promising youngsters but it will maybe take another year or two to truly take off.
Transfers
The massive amount of investment has allowed many clubs to spend on big money transfers. There has been a influx of foreign players and Celtic have capitalised the most by signing many Brazilian stars – Brazil always produce great players and they really shine on the European stage.
Many fear this could ruin the Scottish game even further, they believe the young talent won't be able to compete with the player from oversees. This is the way it has to go if clubs can challenge in Europe, the youth players will learn a great deal from these players so it should work out fine.
The Future
We are expecting Rangers to spend heavily in the transfer market to insure they can challenge Celtic. Maybe this is the season that Celtic can make it further in the Champions League. Can Glenrothes qualify for European competition? Will Scotland's national side continue to improve?
