Along Came November

November is going to be an exciting time of Glenrothes and their fans. No less than three Glens fixtures have been selected for TV viewing. This not only mean extra finance but also more exposure football lovers all over the world. Games at home against St Johnstone and Hamilton will be shown at home and the lads will want to put on a good display for the world to see. The other game will be Glenrothes' visit to Celtic Park.

November Results

Glenrothes 5 - 4 Kilmarnock 3rd November 2012

View attachment 37312

What a game! Glenrothes were two up after only three minutes. Skelton pulled one back for Killie four minutes later, then Owens equalised on twelve minutes! A Conor Ramsay hat-trick no doubt gave the Glens the victory also earned him man of the match, but Kilmarnock kept pushing and pushing.. maybe a draw would've been the fairer result but the fans at Warout will be delighted.

Glenrothes 3 - 2 St. Johnstone 11th November 2012

Ramsay(24,76)Jutkiewicz(pen 57) - Hanni(28)Craig(88)

Remembrance Sunday was certainly a Sunday to remember for the Glens, especially Ramsay. Another two goals and another match of the match, this kid is coming into some serious form - no doubt due to the managers new grip on the training schedules.

Celtic Just Too Strong!!

Celtic 5 - 2 Glenrothes 18th November 2012

View attachment 37311

Glenrothes have nothing to be ashamed of here, they attacked the current champions on their own soil and took an early lead through record signing - Mauro Formica - scoring his first goal for the club. But Celtic replied almost instantly then blew Glenrothes away with skill, pace and superior finishing. Formica did add another and was selected as man of the match ahead of Rodriguez and McGeady, who also scored two goals each. Plenty to be positive about despite the heavy scoreline.

Glenrothes 1 - 1 Hamilton 25th November 2012

Formica(15) - Vonlathen(60)

Glens Still Unbeaten at Ibrox!!.. Ibrox??

Rangers 2 - 2 Glenrothes 28th November 2012

Zigoni(45+1)Drenthe(46) - Jutkiewicz(34)Ramsay(77)

Ramsay cause an embarrassment for the Gers as they once again failed to defeat minnows, Glenrothes at Ibrox. Glenrothes had taken the lead A sensational moving involving Helan and Kapo to set up Jutkiewicz to power home a header but the Glasgow side had the lead by halftime after some naive defending by the Glens. Ramsay's goal set the away fans wild and wiped the smile of the face of every blue nose in the stadium.

Another good month in my opinion. Two away games to the Old Firm in the same month is very easy, the fact that we managed to take a point from Rangers is a great end to the month. Sure you never enjoy conceding five goals in any match but I'm proud that the team didn't give up, they were playing for pride that day not points!

View attachment 37317

The league table is look great also, we've moved up to 7th place - that's inside the top half!! Of course I hope we can stay there but it's more realistic to hope for 13th come the end of the season. We don't want to get relegated but I also don't want to shoot above my stations and get all the fans hopes up. The reality is that we are in the top league now, but there is still a serious lack of quality out-with the first team regulars and I fear fans for our players will tired come the end of the season - especially since we are still in both Cup competitions. We will be relying on youth at times and two youngsters are standing out in training, Ramsay and Hilson. I'm very pleased with their development and attitude

Ramsay in particular has been doing very well recently:

The Scottish Cup Second Round will be played in December. We will host Hall Russell Utd and I see this as an opportunity for a few of the new boys that joined at the start of season. They've been doing a great job in the B side and I feel at first team experience - especially in the Scottish Cup - will be of great benefit to their game in future, I expect that many of them will break into the first team next season.

Aberdeen 1 - 0 Glenrothes 1st December 2012

Bolanos(78)

Glenrothes 2 - 3 Dundee 8th December 2012

Hilson(5)Anderson(34) - Insa(15)McMenamin(45+1)Wallace(90+5)

The manager is sure to be disappointed at coming away form this game with nothing, losing a goal in the very last kick of the game. This may be signs of weakness coming through, the concentration seems to be slipping towards the end of games.

Celsinho(CM), Sergio(CM) and Alain Espinosa(ST) were given their first taste of the big time as Brown handed them a starting place in the team for this game. Ramsay bagged another hat-trick and the man of the match award, but Sergio stole the show, with a goal and two assists, he looked very comfortable. Espinosa also scored on his debute and Celsinho had a hand in one of the goals as well. Great performance from the team, even if it was against lesser opposition, it's important that the lads grab wins to keep the morale up.

Glenrothes 2 - 3 Falkirk 22nd December 2012

Ramsay(19)Kapo(36) - Gerritsen(42)Contreras(50)Al-Qahtani(69)

Having rested their centre midfielders, the team came out fighting and gained a two-nil lead. However this all crumbled as Falkirk hit back and stole the victory. The Bairns showning some experience here to turn defeat into a win, but the Glens will be wondering how they managed to lose the game. Welcome to SPL1 football!

Dunfermline 3 - 2 Glenrothes 29th December 2012

Once again, Glenrothes had the victory in the bag but blew it. Conceding late goals is becoming a speciality for Glenrothes. The games are more intense in the SPL1 and the side is struggling to keep up come the last quarter of the games. You have to feel sorry for them - maybe it's time the board upgraded the facilities so the players can train more effectively!

December Review

Glenrothes have now gone seven games with out a league win and they find themselves falling in the table, slipping to 11th place. After the strong start, they are now heading for a relegation battle as was predicted at the start of the season.

View attachment 37328

Not all doom and gloom though, they have been performing well, just a few lapses in concentration is enough to lose a game in this league, having twice lead in their last two games, the team is at least capable of scoring and attacking. It is the defence that is the problem and the Brown may have to look to the transfer market next month at strengthen his squad.

Here are the player statistics for the SPL1 at the end of the year 2012:

View attachment 37329

Ramsay is only two goals off top spot, Goodwillie with 12 goals for Dundee Utd has helped their cause - they still having a strong title challenge this year currently in 1st place but played a game more than Celtic.

glad i convinced you to keep it going. great work mate, hopefully SPL success is just around the corner for Glenrothes

I'm glad you did too mate, Thanks alot!!!

Hmm, SPL1 success looks impossible at the moment, I need European football to attract players or hopefully a cup final this season. The league is very competitive now and theres loads of Brazilians at Celtic!

I'm gonna keep updating until I get tired as I've now caught up with the season and playing in real-time :D

View attachment 37335January Update

Glenrothes have made their signing of the window on the opening day, signing Jim Brown from Queen of the South. The 17 years old can play as a defender or midfielder and looks like a great prospect for the future.

View attachment 37333

The board and fans may be a little concerned at the manager spending £2.2M on a 17 year old but he has repsonded:

"The price was a little high for my liking too, but I believe this kid will be a major star in the future. He won't play straight away as he is still learning but I will be expecting great things from him in the future.

There is also more speculation on the defensive crisis at Warout Stadium, many fans have expressed their views that although Anderson has help the club rise to where they are, they fear he is too old at 34 to deal with the new style of flair in the league. Also that Armstrong may not be good enough to play at this level week-in week-out yet. So something has to be done.

The assistant manager has made his recommendations for scouting a new centre-back:

Alper Oktay(18) from Galatasary- £1.6M
Mario Alarcon(20) from Atheltic- £2.4M
Brian Allison(24) from Falkirk- £1.2M

The manager has also been looking replacements and future talents:

Marcao(18) from Cruzeiro- £1.4M
Pablo Gutierres(17) from Velez- £525K

Ramsay Injured!!

Conor Ramsay is likely to miss both legs of the Super Cup tie with Dundee Utd. This is a major blow to their chances! Ramsay suffered a calf strain in training and whilst the manager could've asked the player to take injections for the pain but Brown stated he didn't want to ruin his season by possible make him injury worse, the club will just have to cope without his goals for the next few weeks.

This comes at a time when the player was showing signs of fresh improvement:

Let's hope he makes a quick recovery.

Contract Rebels Set To Leave!

Two Glenrothes players have decided to leave Warout Stadium at the end of the season. Kirk Broadfoot has signed a pre contract with Ross County and Davide Petrucci has agreed a deal with Preston.

This is disappointing news as Petrucci is great midfielder and will no doubt go on to do bigger and better things, the Glens manager had hoped he would've shared his ambition of achieving greatness at Glenrothes.

Broadfoot has been one of the most consistent performers in side, but after signing the contract he stated he was looking forward to play for a bigger club. Again many Glens fans will be disappointed with this departure.

Let's hope they can do a job until the end of the season and keep Glenrothes up as a parting gift.

Glenrothes have brought Cruzeiro's Marcao for £2.5M. The 18 year old centre-back was assessed by the scouts and they were amazed by his talent, he could be leading star in the SPL1 already.

View attachment 37923

Glenrothes have also sign right winger Eder on loan from Vasco for a fee of £300K, with a view to sign him for £2.8M in the future. He certainly goods like a great talent too.

View attachment 37924

Fans are reportedly slightly concerned about signing two young centre backs, the manager responded:

"It's not like Anderson is going to get dropped straight away, we will be monitoring his fitness and this just gives us more options, and when Anderson decides to end his playing career, these guys can step in. The fact that we won't have Broadfoot next season means we may need to sign another few defenders before next season. I just hope we will still be in this league so we can attract sufficient talent."

Solid performance from Glenrothes, Jutkiewicz bagged a hat-trick, Formica and Ramsay also scored. Broadfoot rounded up the scoring and ran to the fans to celebrate. He may be feeling guilty about his future departure from the club but until then he look like he wants to play his best football for the remainder of his stay.

Injury Crisis Worsens

Two more players were added to the injury list, six first team player are out:

Russell Anderson, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Philipp Degen, Davide Petrucci, Conor Ramsay and Francisco Duran are all currently injured. Although none are serious injuries, they still come at a vital point in the season coming up to the Super Cup Quarter Finals. Here is the squad to face Dundee Utd in the first leg:

Great performance to gain their first win in the league in 8 games! Well done... a turning point maybe?

Dundee Utd 1 - 0 Glenrothes 15th January 2013 Super Cup Qtr Final 2nd Leg

Thomson OG(49)

A very unlucky defeat for the Glens, they received an injury at Botelho on 21mins then Thomson scored an own goal just after half time - he did all he could to clear the ball but it ended up in his own net. Glens keeper MacDonald got man of the match as he made numerous saves to keep his side in this a chance. Ultimately they went out, but be proud of the performance in the Super Cup this season. An extra £5M for losing in the Quarter final will suit the Glens board of directors.

Livingston 2 - 1 Glenrothes 20th January 2013

Beattie(26, 30) - Jutkiewicz(72)

James Beattie showed his class to aid Livingston in their home victory over the Glens.

Glenrothes 2 - 2 Rangers 2nd February 2013

Ramsay(5)Botelho(88) - Naismith(1, 34)

After the worst possible start, the Glen quickly battled back. Conceding a first goal in the opening minute of the game must've inspired Ramsay, he moved passed two defenders and finished in the bottom left bag. Into the second half and the Gers were dominating but couldn't capitalise. Then comes Botelho off the bench to grab a point.

Out of four games against Rangers this season, Glenrothes have only lost once and drew the other three, not bad for a side that's just been promoted!

Let's take a look at the table after this fixture:

Glenrothes are in 10th place, 13 points clear of the drop zone. With only 8 games remaining, a few more wins and Glenrothes could secure their place in this league for next season.

Falkirk are Super Cup Champions!

Yes, you heard right Falkirk have beaten Raith, 5 - 0 to seal the £50M payday!! Both clubs did amazingly well to get to the final and every Falkirk fan in the country will be dreaming of what they will do with the huge boost in finances!

Falkirk had defeated Holders Rangers in the Semi Finals, they did need extra time but a win is a win and they went on to glory at Hampden!!

Glenrothes will face Hearts in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup, with the tie being played at Warout Stadium, I'm sure fans will be hoping for a result but realise their Cup run could be over this weekend.

Glenrothes 3 - 4 Hearts 16th February 2013

Jutkiewicz bagged an early goal for the Glens and before the players knew it they were 4 - 1 down, tired, battered and bruised at the 70 minute mark. However Dale Hilson began the fight-back 7 minutes later which launched a period of Glenrothes possession. They did grab another goal, Anderson powered a header into the top corner to make it 4 - 3 Hearts but that was the last action of the game.

The fans were disappionted with the performance in the first hour or so but the last 15 minutes the Glens were the better team. The fans also accepted that Hearts are one the top sides in Scotland, theres no shame in losing to them.

Partick Thistle 1 - 3 Glenrothes 23th February 2013

Marcinho(68)Formica(pen 85)Jutkiewicz(89) - McCarthy(18)

Partick looked like grabbing the points then Marcinho equalised. A penalty gave Glenrothes the lead then Jutkiewicz made it look comfortable. It wasn't.

Glens Set to Stay!!

Glenrothes cannot be relegated! They will be staying in the SPL1 next season.

picture.php

All the fixtures are now even with every team played 24 games and its now impossible for 14th placed Livingston to attain Glenrothes' current points total - 30. Great news for the manager:

"I'm delighted of course, but we're out of the cup. So now I can rest some players, give certain individuals a bit of space to consider their futures with the club and allow some youngsters a taste of what they will be expecting next season. But this does not mean we have given up, but now there less pressure to get results. We can still finish higher in the league so there is still something to play for."

Glenrothes currently 10th in the table as they are still picking up points at a stage of the season everybody expected the team to struggle.

Don't let the scoreline fool you, this was no easy game for Glenrothes. The main difference here was Formica's quality assisting or MacDonald's fantastic saves - the keeper was man of the match.

Hearts 2 - 1 Glenrothes 16th March 2013

Palazuelos(14, 41) - Anderson(71)

The two side battled again and once again Hearts won. Anderson gave Glenrothes hope of another comeback but it wasn't to be.

Call it lack of match practice and lack of motivation or what ever you want, Brown has every right to be angry with his team, he'd reportedly stormed out of the dressing room leaving silence in his wake. They were very poor today and Brown did field a good side.

Last Three Games

St. Johnstone 2 - 3 Glenrothes 14th April 2013

Morais(53)Gashi(81) - Ramsay(31, 84) Kapo(65)

Excellent game! Both sides playing good football but Glenrothes had the lethal touch. Ramsay was back in action today, scored two goals, grabbed the winner. Enough said.

Glenrothes 0 - 2 Celtic 4th May 2013

Spadacio(6 )Adilson(75)

An expected Celtic victory, but not by as much as expected. Glenrothes played well and probably deserved a goal. Celtic have recently clinched the SPL1 title.

Dundee 1 - 4 Glenrothes 11th May 2013

Season 2012/2013 Summary

Celtic get two in a row very comfortably after Dundee Utd's tile challenge finally gave way. Rangers also managed to grab a place in nest season's qualifier for the Champions League on the last game of the season. Unlucky Dundee Utd had to settle for 3rd after a great season - where Goodwillie has top goal scorer on 24 league goals.

Glenrothes finshed 9th in the SPL1 in their first ever season in the top flight. They were predicted rock bottom 16th, so there performance was sensational. Let's hope they can take this and drive forward next season. On another note, Glenrothes B has made it to the professional Leagues winning the East Juniors Division. They will be playing in Division 2 next season.

Disaster For Hibs!

Also, most notable events elsewhere in the football league, Hibernian were relegated from the SPL2. Another shocking season for the Hibees, a season where more than 15 players left the club and only 4 joined.

Back in February 2010, Hibs were celebrating winning their second successive Super Cup - that's £100M over seasons. Plus a brief flirt with European football; things were looking great. Fans were hoping for a title challenge the following season but the club was relegated in a season where John Hughes was also sacked. Age Hareide took over with a few games of the season and couldn't save the club. Life in SPL2 didn't start well and Hardeide was sacked by November 2012. Gary Naismith took over with a huge task of getting the club back on it's feet in the SPL2.

Now relegated for the second time, Naismith must get Hibs back into the Premier Leagues!

Brown to Meet Board!

Glen's manager Garry Brown is in talks with the board to extend his contract. It is believed that the board have offer a new 4 year deal - on £14,000 a week. Brown is expected to sign on and continue his great work at Warout Stadium.

Players Leave

Petrucci and Broadfoot have officially left the club, many fans gathered at the Stadium after the least training session before the summer holiday to show their support and wish them all the best for the future.

Having secured Marcao in Januray last season, he will now most likely be a regular player for the side next season but the manager will be searching for another centre-back to tighten things up.

Board Expectations

Brown signed a new contract yesterday, much to the delight of involved at the club and he then held a meeting with the board to discuss the season ahead.

The board were still talking about battling relegation, but Brown had assured them - he didn't expect the team to perform any worse then they did last season. Therefore, he felt a mid-table finish, with a view on top half, would not be impossible.

As for the Cups, it's the same objectives as last season:

Make Sixth Round of Scottish Cup
Make First Round of Super Cup

Budgets:
Transfers: £22M
Wages: £400K

Glenrothes are about to start their Fifth Season of the new football league, now as fully-fledged members of the league. Brown believes that you must survive your first season in a new league to consider yourself a part of that league. Glenrothes have done this but many still see them as wiping-boys of the league. The media predict a finish of 14th - relegation!

Stay tuned for the latest news and storys regarding Glenrothes during their pre-season - July 2013.
