EDIT: Completed this career first time on FMC(posts 1 - 120) but the limits of FMC and the impending retirement of Sir Alex has seen me start the career again on the full version of the game (post 121 onwards). Enjoy.

So I done this story on FM12 (http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-manager-2012-stories/87097-sir-alex-ferguson-career.html) and thought I'd give it a go on FM13 now as well. I got to Old Trafford on FM12 but grew tired of the endless press conferences, team talks etc. However, with the introduction of Football Manager Classic most of the features that annoyed me most have been taken away so this years story will go on much much longer.

Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson
, born 31 December 1941, will go down in the history books as one of, if not the best manager of all time. His 48 trophies won as a manager make him the most successful British football manager in history.

Having recently celebrated 25 years in charge of Manchester United I’ve decided to try and copy his football management career on Football Manager 2012.

East Stirlingshire (1974)
St Mirren (1974-78)

Outside of this, Fergie also has, among other things, 10 Manager of the Year Awards and 26 Manager of the Month Awards.

It is my aim to reach this level of success. I hope you’ll follow and comment where possible. Here we go…

Alex Ferguson appointed new East Stirlingshire manager

Rookie manager Alex Ferguson has today been announced as the new man in charge of Scottish Third Division side East Stirlingshire. The minnows are confident that Ferguson has the necessary attributes to turn the Shire from the whipping boys of Scottish football into a respectful league outfit.

Ferguson, a former Rangers striker, is said to be releasing the challenge of improving the fortunes of the Scottish part-timers in what is his first football management job.

That’s nonsense! If you think I’m at this club to prop up the Scottish Third Division on a regular basis then you are badly mistaken sonny jim! The players are going to have to shape up or they'll be shipped out!

Alex Ferguson Programme Notes

Mixed emotions really. The obvious joys of holding the mighty Rangers to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox were offset by our poor cup form. Clubs of our size need cup runs to boost finances and subsequently increase our profile and playing squad.

At least it gives us the opportunity to concentrate on the league. Only a fool would think Rangers won’t escape this division at the first time of asking. It is up to us to make sure we push them all the way and secure promotion via the playoffs.

Interesting. Will be following.

Is this the default skin you are using?

It certainly was not our year in regards to cups. A thrashing from first division high fliers Partick showed us there is still a lot of work to be done. In the league a slow start was offset by two home wins which saw us maintain our hopes of a play off spot. Work on the training field will continue to improve our defending and general understanding. We aren’t too far from clicking.

7 points from 12 is a decent, if unspectacular, return this month. Whilst the media had us a pre-season certainties for the wooden spoon, we are showing we can compete and, again, even though we sit 2nd in the league Rangers are so far ahead that the playoffs remain our target.

You're in second which is the best you could hope for with Rangers being in the 3rd Division.

We just can’t get a run of wins together. Another great display against runaway leaders Rangers but then we fail to kick on. As a result we dropped down to 3rd but still in the mix playoff. We remain the only team to take points off Rangers!

The press have given us great credit for our famous victory over Rangers at Ibrox, calling it the greatest upset in Scottish league history. This is all well and good but the diabolical performances against Montrose and Peterhead cannot be excused! The players must up their game against the ‘lesser’ sides as well.

Well done on the Rangers win but your team need to buck their ideas up and be a bit more consistent.
