Mann appointed manager as Gus leaves for better things!

Brighton and Hove Albion have today appointed relatively unknown manager Jason Mann on a two year deal following Gus Poyet's resignation.

The former Uruguay international resigned after stating that he deserved to manage at a higher level than his side, Brighton and Hove Albion, were currently showcasing their football. Since his resignation, Poyet has been linked with several jobs both in the Premier League and on the continent.

Twenty-six year-old Jason Mann was appointed just hours after Poyet's resignation and will hope to further consolidate Brighton's place in the Championship after they finished a promising 10th last season.

In his first press-conference as manager of the club, Mann stated Brighton were a club "on the up". With no known history as a manager, Jason Mann is already under extreme pressure to prove himself to the Brighton faithful. Chairman Tony Bloom has declared his confidence in Mann by saying this: "Jason is a very young manager with lots of potential. He's been a very close friend of mine for some time now and when Gus stated his intentions to leave to me, I didn't think of anybody else but Jason. I hope this will be a great year for the club."

Jason Mann has reportedly already registered an interest in Everton defender Shane Duffy and former Birmingham striker Mikhael Forssell.

July Round-Up

Brighton and Hove Albion impressed throughout pre-season under new manager Jason Mann. Easy wins against Scottish clubs Aberdeen and Dundee United were played either side of a fairly even game against Liverpool Reserves. French team Valenciennes were then well beaten before Ligue 1 outfit Bastia travelled to the Amex Stadium and earned a draw. To end their pre-season, Brighton travelled to Villa Park where they were comfortably beaten by Aston Villa as England striker Darren Bent looked promising and scored twice.

Jason Mann signed several players this month who he hopes will have an instant impact on the team. Young Irish defender Shane Duffy signed on a season-long loan from Premier League side Everton just days before Czech Lukas Magera joined after being without a club. Experienced Spanish midfielder then also joined on a season-long loan on the same day as Portsmouth defender Sam Magri signed on. Brighton then signed two South African players as Andile Jali and Teko Modise signed for a combined fee of £800,000. Swansea midfielder Kemy Agustien also signed for £1,500,000.

Player-Assistant Manager Mauricio Taricco was the first name to leave Brighton and Hove Albion as Jason Mann's reign began. He was soon replaced by Bobby Downes as Assistant Manager. Experienced goalkeeper Casper Ankergen then left the club before youngster Liam Bridcutt signed for south-coast rivals Southampton. Matt Sparrow, Gary Dicker and Marcos Painter left the club for a combined fee of £830,000 as Ryan Simmonds and Ryan Harley joined Hereford and Nottingham Forest respectively on loan.

August Round-Up

New manager Jason Mann continued to impress as his Brighton side picked up nine points from a possible fifteen in August. An impressive display away at Bristol City was capped off by an excellent finish from Craig Mackail-Smith. Following the league win, The Seagulls progressed in the Capital One Cup after battering League Two side Northampton. Two consecutive draws against Burnley and Hull left Jason Mann frustrated as his side struggled to pose any goalscoring threat despite dominating both games. Blackpool then visited the Amex Stadium and took a half-time lead before three late goals earned Brighton all three points. A 2-0 away win at Colchester allowed Brighton to progress into the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup where they've been drawn against Premier League giants Manchester United. To round off the month, The Seagulls travelled to promotion-hopefuls Blackburn Rovers and played out a boring 0-0 draw.

Youngsters Damian Martinez and Chris Wood both joined Brighton and Hove Albion on season-long loans from Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion respectively. Experienced striker Mamady Sidibe joined on a free transfer after being released from Stoke City.

Experienced goalkeeper Peter Brezovan left the Amex Stadium and headed to Leicester to make way for young loanee Martinez. Youngsters Jamie Strong, Daniel East and Yaser Kasim were all loaned out to lower-league teams in order to gain experienced whilst Spanish defender Inigo Calderon left the south coast to sign for Swiss side Zurich for a fee of £600,000.

September Round-Up

View attachment 271135

Brighton and Hove Albion began the month in great fashion as they smashed four goals past a weak Barnsley side. Despite gaining the three points, Jason Mann was reportedly disappointed that they conceded twice. Following the win, The Seagulls then arrived at rivals Crystal Palace and put on a confident display for their travelling support. Three first-half goals ensured that Brighton went home with all three points.

Premier League giants Manchester United then arrived at the Amex Stadium and were out-classed by their Championship opponents. Brighton manager Jason Mann then said that he was "angry" and "disappointed" that Sir Alex Ferguson only played a second-string side and felt like Fergie didn't respect his side. Following the result, Brighton were drawn at home to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Just three days after the win in the Capital One Cup, Peterborough were out-classed at the Amex as Brighton ran out comfortable winners after two first-half goals. The final game of the month saw Brighton travel to Wales to face in-form side Cardiff City. A fantastic second-half performance from The Albion meant that they ran out 5-1 winners - a somewhat surprising result.

October Round-Up

View attachment 271179

October started off with a great win over table-toppers Huddersfield United. A dominant performance was topped off by a fantastic solo goal from young winger Craig Noone. After the international break, Wolves were the next side to visit the Amex. Another confident performance from The Albion meant they leap-frogged above Huddersfield and Wolves to top the nPower Championship.

A disappointing 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest followed before Charlton Athletic were well beaten at the Amex as Brighton's unbeaten run continued. Next up was a visit from Premier League strugglers, Tottenham Hotspur. A hat-trick from Mamady Sidibe meant the Championship side progressed into the Quarter-finals where they were drawn at home to Premier League side Stoke City. Just three days after the Capital One Cup clash, The Seagulls visited Ipswich Town. After several poor refereeing decisions, including two penalties for Ipswich, The Tractor Boys managed to earn all three points from Brighton.

After a very promising month for Brighton and Hove Albion, they sit top of the nPower Championship despite a disappointing loss to Ipswich Town. In the coming month, they face tough games against Bolton and Leeds.

Pretty close up there! Could you upload Noone's solo goal to Youtube? I really wanna see it xD
