Something a Little Different: A Brighton & Hove Albion Story

No probs bud :)

Maybe do a player of the month or something like that? It's well written, so no problems there!

Yeah I'll look into doing a player of the month, thanks mate. :) Although I've just played the first game of November and it was a disgraceful performance so no contenders for it yet haha!

November Round-Up

View attachment 271206

November started off with a trip to Derby County for The Seagulls. A poor performance and some dire finishing from both sides meant the teams took a point home each. Next up for Brighton was a home fixture against recently promoted Sheffield Wednesday. Another poor performance in front of goal meant The Albion were lucky to earn all three points against a stubborn Wednesday side.

Second placed Bolton Wanderers then welcomed Brighton to the Reebok Arena. A much improved performance from The Seagulls meant they picked up all three points and opened up a four point lead at the top of the table. Following the win, Leeds United visited the Amex and were thoroughly out-classed by the home side - a brace from Mamady Sidibe earning all three points. Next up was a trip to Millwall where The Seagulls once again met stubborn opposition. Another late goal from Sidibe ensured Brighton went home with a win.

To round off the month, Premier League side Stoke City visited the Amex for the Quarter-final of the Capital One Cup. A late goal from Sam Magri took the tie to extra-time after Vicente had missed a penalty. Brighton took the lead in extra-time through former Potter Mamady Sidibe before Wayne Bridge scored an own-goal to give Stoke the chance to win on penalties. Sam Magri, Chris Wood and Mamady Sidibe all missed their penalty for Brighton to give Stoke a win which takes them through to the Semi-final.

Brighton and Hove Albion opened up a promising four point lead at the top of the table in the month of November. In December, they face hard trips to St. Andrews and the Riverside Stadium to face Birmingham City and Middlesbrough respectively.

Player of the Month: Mamady Sidibe

Despite November containing several poor performances, Sidibe came up with the goals when The Seagulls needed them and has quickly become a star player at the Amex.

December Round-Up

View attachment 271241

December started off with a disappointing performance at St. Andrews. A late goal from Craig Noone meant The Seagulls picked up a point on their travels. London side Watford then made the journey to the Amex only to leave disappointed. The Albion put on a confident performance for their fans and won 3-1. Next up was a journey to struggling Middlesbrough. Brighton overcame an early scare as Boro took a 2-0 lead at half-time only to surrender the lead to the superior team.

The boxing day match saw Leicester visit the Amex. A controlling performance was topped off by a superb strike from South African Teko Modise. On the final day of December, table toppers Brighton had a long journey north to face Burnley. A bore draw ensued as neither team found the net.

December was a month of mixed performances for The Seagulls as they managed to open up their lead at the top of the table to five points. The coming month sees difficult fixtures against Hull City, Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers.

Player of the Month: Teko Modise

The South African has put in some great performances this month and has really come into his own. He seems settle now and is composed in front of goal.

January Round-Up

View attachment 271263

January started off as a good month for The Seagulls as they picked up all three points when Bristol City visited the Amex. In the FA Cup Third Round, Lincoln played a team mixed of experience and youth when they travelled to the Amex and were thoroughly beaten. Next to arrive on the south coast was second placed Hull City. The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead before The Seagulls pulled it back to 3-2 at half-time. By the end of the match, Brighton had scored another three and the match ended up 6-2.

Following the demolishing job of Hull, The Albion travelled north to play Blackpool. A disappointing display from the south coast side meant they only picked up a point on their travels. Following the Blackpool game, Brighton faced Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup - having already knocked them out of the Capital One Cup - and played out a boring 0-0 draw. A replay has been scheduled for early on in February. To end the month, second placed Blackburn Rovers played out a poorly-contested 1-1 draw at the Amex.

Brighton and Hove Albion finished the month in first place with a seven point lead at the top of the table. In February, Brighton travel to high-flying Huddersfield and host improving Cardiff City.

This month manager Jason Mann strengthened his squad in many positions as he secured five loan deals for youngsters: Victor Moses, John Guidetti, Raheem Sterling, Phil Bardsley and Ricardo Kishna. Young defenders Tyka Musonda and Jeremy Helan were signed from Chelsea and Manchester City respectively for the future and were instantly placed in the reserves. Right-back Kyle Naughton signed for £2,300,000 from giants Tottenham Hotspur while midfielders Ferrie Bodde and James McArthur signed for a combined fee of £1,650,000. Young winger Ryan Williams signed from Fulham as a part-exchange-plus-cash deal. Swedish right-back Mikael Lustig will join Albion in the summer after signing a pre-contract with the club following a spell in Scotland with Celtic.

Youngster George Barker was loaned out to Lincoln to gain experience. Also leaving the club on loan deals were Andrew Crofts and Craig Mackail-Smith as neither player managed to nail down a starting position under Jason Mann. In both deals, the loaning club may buy the player at the end of the season. Young Dutch striker Roland Bergkamp left for a small fee whilst Lukas Magera - who signed for free at the start of the season - left for a fee of £900,000. Fulham signed midfielder Kemy Agustien for £2,000,000 - a £500,000 profit for Brighton - and former Albion captain, Gordon Greer, for £2,000,000 plus Ryan Williams. Spanish pair Vicente and Bruno will both leave the club in the summer after signing pre-contracts with Betis and Real Sociedad respectively. Manager Jason Mann wasn't intrested in renewing Bruno's contract while Vicente felt a move to Spain was suitable after rejecting a contract extension. Both players have been relegated to the reserves until their contracts run out.

Player of the Month: Craig Noone

In a month full of poor performances throughout the team, Craig came up with both assists and goals when they were needed. Surely a star for years to come.

Brighton and Hove Albion reveal stadium and training ground plans!

View attachment 271273View attachment 271276

Albion Chairman Tony Bloom has today announced that the Amex will be extended over the summer months. Having sold out 13 of their 15 leagues games so far this season, demand is high for seats at the recently built Falmer Stadium. Work will begin as soon as the season finishes to install a further 8,000 seats by filling in the corners and adding a second tier to the East Stand which will increase the capacity to 30,500 seats from 22,500. The work should be finished before the 2012-2013 starts.

Tony Bloom also announced that Brighton and Hove Albion would be building a new training/youth ground. Work will be starting within the next week on the state-of-the-art facilities and will be completed mid-way through next season.

February Round-Up

View attachment 271327

February started off with a comfortable 3-0 win at Barnsley for The Seagulls. In the FA Cup Fourth Round Replay, Tottenham Hotspur were taken to extra-time by Brighton before then being dumped out. A 121st minute goal from Kazenga LuaLua put the south coast team through to the Fifth Round. A home game against rivals Crystal Palace then followed for The Seagulls and they comfortably seen off their opposition from London.

A trip to Peterborough then followed and another controlling performance allowed Brighton to take all three points. Ipswich visited the Amex in the FA Cup Fifth Round and were well beaten by Championship leaders Brighton. A poor performance in the next game meant Brighton could only draw away at Huddersfield. After the game, manager Jason Mann promised the fans more from his players in their next match. A home game against Cardiff City followed and a fantastic performance meant that Cardiff went home having been beaten 8-2. Striker John Guidetti scored an amazing six goals against the Welsh side.

Brighton and Hove Albion stayed seven points ahead at the top of the nPower Championship. In the next month, they face hard games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest, Bolton Wanderers and an FA Cup Sixth Round tie against West Bromwich Albion.

Player of the Month: John Guidetti

Several players evenly impressed throughout February. However, John Guidetti's fine display against Cardiff City - scoring six goals - earned him the Player of the Month award.

Just had a look through this story. Im following.

Thanks for the comment mate! Yeah, he's hardly scored at all and then scored six in one match haha! Looks decent but was only on a three month loan deal so it runs out soon!

Following this story, love the layout and you're doing really well

March Round-Up

View attachment 271438

March started off in the worst possible way for Brighton and Hove Albion as they stumbled to a 2-0 defeat at Molineux. Following the loss, The Seagulls picked up three straight wins against Nottingham Forest, Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town to cement their place at the top of the table.

An away tie in the FA Cup Sixth Round then followed against Premier League side West Bromwich Albion. A confident display from Brighton meant they progressed into the Semi-final to face Newcastle United at Wembley. Just three days later, a 1-0 victory away at Derby County preceded a commanding display at the Amex against promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers. To round off the month, Sheffield Wednesday performed poorly at home to a superb Brighton side who ran out comfortable winners.

In the month of March, Brighton and Hove Albion opened up a huge thirteen point lead at the top of the nPower Championship table. Through April, Brighton face difficult fixtures against Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.

Player of the Month: Victor Moses

View attachment 271441

During March, young winger Victor Moses put in several displays which surely caught the eye of the Chelsea management. Victor will be hoping to earn a first-team place in the Chelsea squad next season.

Moses did well then :) you look very good for the title!

Yeah, he's been great since joining on loan. Possibly one of the more consistent performers of the season. If he's at all available next year - loan or permanent - I'll be sure looking to snap him up. Thanks for the comment mate, I'm hoping to get the title sealed and focus on the FA Cup.

Good story. May do my own. I'm 3 seasons in but may try and go back to find some screens for my Everton game.
