Hodgson Announces Euro 2016 Squad

1409237741615_wps_3_England_manager_Roy_Hodgs.jpg
With such a poor showing in the last major tournament, the English public will be demanding a much improved performance in France

Roy Hodgson has announced his England squad for the forthcoming European Football Championship to be held in France his June and July. The only surprize inclusion that will be scrutinised this summer is young midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah who got the call without having earned a senior international cap, with many expecting to see Will Hughes board the plane to Paris. Perhaps unsurprisingly given how impressively they performed this season, Southampton players are the the most represented club amongst the squad, with 8 (Jack Butland, Nathaniel Clyne, Steven Caulker, Luke Shaw, James Ward-Prowse, Wilfried Zaha, and Raheem Sterling) of their players making the squad. All of whom play a major role in making the England squad the youngest at the tournament. England also have the bragging rights of being the only squad at the tournament to have all players based in the country of their nationality.

[h=1]Hodgson Sacked![/h]
roy-hodgson-620-ashx.jpg

The axe finally falls on Hodgson

Roy Hodgson has been sacked as England manager following his team’s elimination at the UEFA European Championship in the round of 16 against Switzerland after 4 years of service. The latest disappointment for the national team comes on the back of the embarrassing elimination at the 2014 World Cup which saw England board the plan home without making it to the knockout round. Most pundits blame the lack of possession the England team had at both tournaments as the primary reason for his termination. The FA will now begin their search for a new national team manager, the rumoured names include Louis van Gaal, José Mourinho, Jürgen Klopp, and Gareth Southgate.

Lampard Breaks Giggs’ Premier League Record

A living legend: Lampard now has the most Premier League appearances ever

West Ham, Chelsea, and possibly soon-to-be Southampton legend: Frank Lampard, has surpassed Ryan Giggs’ Premier League appearance record this afternoon after coming off the bench against Everton in Southampton’s 3-0 away loss. In a touching moment, Lampard was met with a standing ovation from both the travelling Saint’s fans and the Toffee’s as he replaced Will Hughes in the 60th minute to record his 633rd Premier League appearance. In a career spanning 22 years, Lampard is showing no sign of slowing down as he played a vital role in helping Southampton secure their highest ever top flight points tally last season, and a new 1 year contract extension to keep him at St Mary’s expected in the near future. Perhaps the final laugh should go to a quietly pleased manager named Harry Redknapp, who famously predicted Lampard’s potential in 1996 by defending his young midfielder from a disgruntled Hammers fan. If there's one thing Harry knows, it's talent.

No league table this month because I'm an idiot and forgot...

Glad I am not the only one to do stuff like that! :p

I got into the habit of taking screen shots at the end of the month when the player training reports pop up.
It can be frustrating having a stop to write an update though; especially if you're in the middle of a good run.

Yeah that's what I usually do too. Given it's a shorter month of fixtures than I'm used to, it must have just slipped right past

Great story!

Read everything so far. Love your storytelling skills

Patriotism finished?
No more updates on this save?

I haven't touched the save since my last update, it's feeling a little too restrictive now.

But I don't want to end the story here, so I'll think of something to end the story properly
