The magic run continues as we closed on three back to back promotions to the premier league with Hartlepool. v2 home and defensive away (used v3 sometimes but so no difference) and on a few occasions defensive at home too when we had the bad run. We scored the most goals in the league and on the other hand had the 5th worst defensive record as well. So I guess finally the tactic and the players reached their max with transfers only being either free or loans.

We finished third in a very close race, 2nd was on 83 points, 3rd to 5th was on 75 points, 6th and 7th on 74 and 73 points respectively. It was a nerve recking end on the last day where a defeat could have seen us go all the way down to 10th even (depending on other results). We could have easily challenged for 2nd place if it weren't for a stupid slump during midseason.
Play offs were very straightforward, was winning 1-0 in the final before the AI decides to equalize in the 90th minute. But our keeper had 3 or 4 saves and promotion was ours.

How good is this tactic still? My GK, RB, one of the CBs, LB(more like a LM), SS, CM and one forward are still from the League 2 campaign. I did get quality loans (more like begging the premier league teams) to give us extra quality.
The only issue I had with was the home tactic. My tactic report shows superior goals differences vs larger oppositions but performing poorly against similar opposition numbers. I find that the team controls a lot of possession against same or weaker opponents but find it difficult to breakdown them.
I would really appreciate if the forum posters could suggest a good home tactic for the home side that I could alternate with. I used date 442! but it was not that effective this season after sometime.
