After poor starts to the season for AVB at Tottenham and Pellegrini at Man City, they both got the boot, and this month saw Bernd Schuster takeover at Spurs and Rafa Benitez come forward at the Citizens.

The training facilities were once again upgraded, this time upgrading from three stars to three and a half stars out of five, again we get on to the board to upgrade again straight away, they agree and begin construction work at the end of the season.

Enough of that, let's get on to some matches.

Just a quick note on the Marseille game, you're probably surprised by that scoreline, don't be, I tried a few youngsters out, as we'd already topped the group but my youngsters didn't really show up.

We draw a tough Champions League last 16 tie against Atletico Madrid, they've been knockout at this stage of the competition the last two seasons, so they'll be looking to put that right, I'll expect a very evenly matched tie, we'll do well to get through.

The injuries just keep on coming at the moment, after a very unfortunate long term injury to Jordi Amat, we get another nasty one, this time to Martin Montoya, who will be out for 4-5 months. It's very frustrating, we have six first team players injured and the below West Brom game, Vazquez picked up yet another injury. That means we'll be without both of our strikers for the next month, there's some really tough games coming up and as you can see by results, these unfortunate injuries are affecting our form.

With the inconsistent performers this month, the player of the month award is a very obvious one. Tom Ince scored four goals and supplied one assist in five starts this month, this lad certainly knows where the goal is, he's my top scorer so far this season, with nine goals in nineteen starts.

Despite plenty of slip ups in the league this month, the league table still looks great for the Swans, we have a ten point gap over Chelsea, who have a game in hand. United are slipping away under Moyes, and previous Swansea manager Michael Laudrup, is performing well at my club, Liverpool.

I mentioned the unfortunate injury list this month, well that cost us with the inconsistent results, my strikers should be back early next month, and they'll be much needed to get our form back on track. Next time we kick of our defense, of the FA Cup crown, against our feeder club Millwall and with injured players coming back, hopefully we can turn a corner and get back to our early season form in the league.

Superb story, really enjoying it so far

What's the latest with your world class regen? I might have missed it, is he on loan or in the youth squad?

Thanks for the support!

I think you must of got confused with what White army posted ^, my regens have been complete garbage, although I did ask the board to upgrade our youth recruitment at the start of this season, they accepted, so we'll soon see if we get any better regens. I think I'll be looking for a few regens in the summer, though I do prefer real life players, there was one lad who surprised me, he signed a deal with the club a few weeks ago, in game.

He's been at the club for almost two years, training with the first team since the summer, developing really well and his contract was up this summer, so I took a chance on him, He'll still need some more development until he's ready for the first team but hopefully he can deliver when he gets the chance, here's a screenshot.

I stopped doing manager updates for the smaller teams, sticking to the top teams in the league, the ones around us but as Cardiff are our leading rivals, I'll do one for them. Malky Mackay was sacked late last month and Oscar Garcia took charge early this month.

Nathan Dyer grabs this months player of the month, with five goals and two assists in six starts, there was plenty of consistent performers this month, but this guy was way ahead in stats, he turned up in every game but one, he even did well coming off the bench.

Another great month in the league for the lads, with only thirteen games to go, we look destined to lift the title this season, time will tell.

After a very poor month of results last month, we get our season back on track with nothing but wins, scoring plenty of goals and only conceding the one goal in seven games. We also grab an important win for the fans over Welsh rivals, Cardiff. Next time we play some very difficult away games in the league, against United and Arsenal and we play knockout football in the latter stages of the Champions league, for the first time against Aletico.

Tactics

Hi there, great story so far! Anyways I took over Swansea midway during my first season after starting out unemployed. They were 12th when I took over, ended the season at 10th, pretty disappointing in my opinion. I don't have an image of my tactics, but my lack of goals is a big concern . I m not sure why my wingers don't ever cross, is it bcos I ask them to play it short or run more often. How do I get my wingers to cross more and also why do my strikers never score ? And why are there so many mishit long shots !!?

Thks for for the help.

Hey guys, unfortunately I won't be continuing this save for a number of reasons really, I've lost interest in the save, found new friends and hobbies and I've only recently got back in to FM. With that said I just finished wrapping up the season, I'll show you what happened in just a second but before that I just wanted to tell you I'll be starting up a new save and sharing my story again on this forum. I have a few ideas but I'll be sure to get the first update up in the next few days.

We won the one trophy we desperately wanted to win this season the Barclays Premier League. Predicted favorites and our title rivals, Manchester United didn't even come close, they even finished outside of the top four, Chelsea were a not so close second, as we run away with the league in the end, winning it with five games to spare.

As for the cup competitions, well after winning all of them last year, it was disappointing to be knocked out at the Semi Final stage by Man City and the last 16 stage by West Brom. The Champions League proved to be another story though, we won our group with complete ease, going on to knock out Spanish giants Atletico and Barcelona. Eventually we came up short in the Semi Finals to Real Madrid who went on to win the trophy for the second year running.

I was a little disappointed not to win more silverware this year but I can't complain too much, we had a fantastic run in the Champions League, a good run in the FA Cup and won the BPL for the first time in Swansea's history. Overall I'd say this season has been about on par with the success of last season.

To finish this off, I'm going to do an award based on our best performers over the three seasons at Swansea. In third place, the lad I labelled the dark horse of my team, right at the start of this story, didn't disappoint. Ben Davies has a fantastic average match rating of 7.36, he chipped in with three goals and twelve assists in three years, that's not bad for a left back but it was his consistent defensive performances that get him on this list.
View attachment 425534

In second place with a staggering 151 appereances in three years, 33 more than any other outfield player, an average match rating of 7.07, 40 goals and 31 assists, Tom Ince. What a player he has been for us, by far our best attacker, coming in at only 21, he showed he's a top young player.
View attachment 425533

Finally in first place with 118 appereances, an average match rating of 7.31, 10 goals and 8 assists, Mr consistency, Stefan Standberg. Sometimes deployed as a defensive midfielder but usually this man was a rock at the heart of our defense, season after season and for just ?1.4M, what a signing and what a player.

Thanks for all the support along the way on my first ever FM story, I've really enjoyed myself and I can't wait to do it again so be sure to keep an eye on the forum. I'll leave you guys with the overall best team according to FM, no idea why Bony makes an appearance.
