According to @GuillemBalague, the clause in Mata's contract allowing him to go for €20-3m 'ended' yesterday and he now costs €60m. He also says Arsenal agreed a fee with Valencia, but while Barcelona aren't paying up for Cesc, they were reluctant to pay up - Spurs made a formal bid, but Mata was only interested in going to Arsenal or Barca.

This. Don't want to go off topic but Utd need to replace Scholes - a deep-lying playmaker. Carrick's good defensively and has a good passing range, but he's no Scholes. I thought they'd be more interested in Modric tbh - perfect signing, but probably over-valued.

WE need a playmaker, not specifically a deep lying one, Scholes was never purely a deep lying playmaker, he only became one as his legs went. We are looking to replace Scholes in his prime, not in his Indian summer

If you go by Scholes words there is no need of replacement if you want to for Scholes of last year. Scholes of 5 years back needs replacement meaning we need palymaker who can make those late runs..

I wouldn't way Modric as Deeplying play maker. THudd is..

If I'm correct, the player has to have a medical before any money is handed over?

This whole clause goes up is rubbish imo.
 
I thought Mata's clause didn't even apply to foreign clubs?

Or maybe his release clause was 60M, all of them got it wrong and GB is just trying to cover his face with these stories.. Maybe..
 
Rumours circulating that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in Joey Barton, however, Newcastle's asking price has put him off. XD
 
^ I heard that Barton would be allowed to leave for free?

I can't understand where the rumour of AFC interest is coming from, IMHO the guy should be banned from football.

He hasn't changed his ways and when he punched Pedersen last year he proved that, AFC interest made me laugh because I would imagine there is no way Wenger wants Barton anywhere near Arsenal football club.

I also don't see how he would be the only one to know of this "clause". Talking out of his ****.
