Think the whole thing could be linked with Everton trying to offload Yakubu and Yobo aswell. If that falls through (which is now looking unlikely as talks have resumed after stalling), then there's an increased chance of the offer being accepted. If it does goes through, there'll be money available (though not much), and the chances of a bid being rejected would I suspect increase.

If we have to pay 20 million then yeah, would love to see more Squillaci blunders. It's too much.
I'd rather pay 20 mill and possibly win trophies than be 20 mill richer and have that fkn clown playing.

Nothing to with under-rating Kos, you under-rate Jags.

This idea of inflation doesnt hold either. Supply and demand. The ball is entirely in Evertons hands doesn't matter what his nationality is. Star defender, club don't want to sell, he is more than happy to stay, they dictate the terms

It's inflated in terms of relative skill for English players, though.

S******ci should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jagielka tbh.

Very true...i'm getting short sighted...SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE XAVI

I like Phil but I'd rather play Squillaci than spend 20 million on a decent 28 year old. Double that and you could sign both Clichy and Fabregas...that's just not right.

I just can't see it, not while Arsene is around. The most he's ever spent in 15 years is 15 million, now we're to believe he'll spend 20 on a 28 year old cb when he has Kos, the Verminator, Squillaci, Djourou and has sent Bartley away on loan.

You keep making this weird sound in this post, what does it mean?

The fact of the "mata" is that we need a significant singning quick, and one that isn't another kid. Something to put the fans at ease, and more importantly lift the arsenal players in general.

Am I the only one ******* myself with the udinese match?

Shocked people are ok with spending over half the Fabregas money on a 28 year old centre half tbh. I know Squillaci is bad but come on...

Hope you're pleased with yourself Xavi, they've gone mad, this is all your fault.

Wenger has never spent more than 15 million in his 15 years here, don't think Jagielka, a 28 old year old cb at 20 million will be the one to change that but anything can happen I suppose.

Will leave it at that for tonight, hopefully some better news to come tomorrow.

It's coming across that you under-rate him tbh, and I can tell you right now-you get him, the squad will have a quality defender who will undoubtedly strengthen you're back four. When partnered with Distin, Distin has been an excellent CB, because Jags shouldered most of the work and performed admirably, and took the pressure of Distin, who as a result, also had a very good season. Composed, rock solid, extremely high levels of concentration, strong in the air.....what more do you want from a player? Christ, I'm starting to sound like his agent now oO)

What a deal for everton that would. £20mil for an average 28 year old at best!!

Good that Fabregas saga is over, no more Barca DNA bs from Xavi and co.. But have to say the manner in which transfer was done was ridiculous. Wonder why neither UEFA nor FIFA said anything about this. Ridiculous. Blatant tapping up.

Also Fabregas played huge part in accepting this cheap bid. Otherwise noway Arsenal would have accepted such a bullshit bid.

Finally, From twitter:

Cesc "Just got my new blackberry bold 9900. Its amazing!"

One guy responded "I guess you need something to entertain you when you sit on the barça bench"

Nothing to do with the quality. He's a good player no doubt, but 20 million is too much. He's 28, we'll get four years out of him, no resale value, and that would be OVER HALF of the Cesc money. Never played CL football, if he's as good as you all think why has he been at Everton and the blades all his career. Wenger has been at the club for 15 years and never spent more than 15 million on one player, I don't think Jagielka of all players is going to be the one who changes that. OH AND HE'S 28.

Fabregas having medical at Barca. Still can't believe how Arsenal accepted such a ridiculous bid..

Barcelona confirm signing of Cesc - as he will be referred to from now on - on a five-year deal.
