Has schaaf lost the plot :0, willing to listen to offers for mertesacker and Wiese? Two of our best players IMO. And dont you like Mertesacker?

And Marin is for sale, Bremen look like they are cashing in.

Mertesacker would be awful in the Premier League, major lack of mobility.

Perfect for Spain/Italy but would be a disaster in the Premier League, if Wenger wanted to go down the height route he would sign Kjaer I imagine...

I like my defenders to be able to run and move their hips, too slow and too immobile, would be better off just planting a tree next to the Verminator.

Kjaer's good, a wonderful ball-player too which is a plus. Love watching Denmark's defence, Agger and Kjaer.

If marin is for sale that is an absolute Joke, turning into a develop players and then sell them club.

Arsenal have pace at the back, I think mertesackers height and strength would be an asset for arsenal, If he played with someone pacier (E.g Djourou or a signing like samba), I think he'd be a good buy although I hope they dont sign him.

only want 1 cb out of Jags and Samba , no one else just out of them 2

Whats wrong with that, would stop arsenal being bullied by stoke and other sides.

Mertesacker is too slow and too sluggish. And just like Pessh said; we're better off planting a tree next to TV5 rather than have Mertesacker partnering him at CB.

On the other hand, it would be utterly hilarious watching Mertesacker and Samba attempt to stop players like Hernandez.

I wrote some of this in the Nasri thread but I thought I'd post it here. I'd like to know what Arsenal fans think.

I have a feeling though that Wenger will not buy any more players since he has two potential XI's and some leftover players. Since it's not absolutely necessary for him to sign another player (maybe an RB if Eboue leaves, can't remember if they have another RB; I don't see him signing another central defender since it will be too expensive to get someone better than Kosc or Djorou) and this is how he usually is, I think he'll stick with the squad. He is smart enough though to sign a player in January if he needs to, and I think that's what's best for Arsenal: not sign anyone now, see what the weaknesses are in the first half of the season, and then adjust. That way if things are going well he could get a top 4 finish once again on a negative budget. Anyway, the first (starting XI):

Van Persie
Gervinho Ramsey Walcott
Song Wilshere
Gibbs Vermaelen Koscielny Sagna
Szczesny

the second:

Chamakh
Arshavin Rosicky Oxlade-Chamberlin
Frimpong Diaby
Traore Squillaci Djorou Eboue (although he's going to Turkey apparently, so another RB, can't remember who they have)
Almunia

Extras: Vela, Lansbury, Fabianski. I'm assuming Bendtner is leaving.

That's 25 players and I think these will be the 25 in the squad.

The starting XI is pretty good but the back-ups are pretty weak. If Arsenal stays healthy they will definitely be a force to reckon with, maybe even title challengers. But if they have injuries (as they always do) they won't have the depth to compete with ManU or even the likes of City and Chelsea for fourth place. I think with Wenger's managerial abilities though they will fight through the injuries and squeeze out a 4th place with respectable finishes in the other competitions. But Van Persie has to stay healthy and Chamakh has to have a solid season. If not they could slip out of the top 4. City is ridiculously loaded with talent and Liverpool should be great (had best record in the league from the time KK took over). Chelsea made some reinforcements (though not as many as I thought) and I don't see them slipping out of the top 4. Obviously ManU wouldn't with the amount of depth they have.

Mertesacker moves and turns like a truck

there is Jenkinson . he is our new RB challenger.

Phil Jagielka isn't present for Everton's friendly against Bohemians tonight. He isn't even in the squad which contains all fit first team players. I really hope this isn't something to do with the speculation around him and Arsenal.

Bad news for Everton? Or just paying too much attention to something small?

EDIT: Baines aint there either.

Was just posted in the rumours thread, checked it out and is true.

Don't think there's anything to it and still don't think Wenger will pay £20 million for a 28 year old but you never know...

Not sure Pessh, but a double signing of those two would be immense, but also something im not sure Everton could recover from

A double swoop for the pair and I would be a happy boy again.

Especially after Cesc leaving today.

Traore played for the reserves tonight, dropped from the FT....

... He got injured.

There goes our chances of selling him!

Baines, Jags, Mata would be good. Perhaps an Advanced Playmaker also.

Get rid of Nasri too.

the only reason he would is because he embodies all the things that Arsenal currently lack at the back. And he gets Baines as well, thats just scary
