The problem is that their 'balance' seems to be used almost entirely on their wages, and any excess (which seems to be around 25-30 mill) is being kept aside to replace the missing CL money, should they not qualify this year.

This doesn't seem to leave any money for transfers unless they make some of their own funds available. Wenger has gotten himself into a terrible situation where he's paying mediocre players far, far higher than they should be paid. The segment about Vermaelen receiving a loyalty bonus was, to me, quite frankly laughable, given he hasn't been at the club for very long really, and his injuries over the past year.

Yeah, Arsenals wage heirarchy is terrible, considering that they need to relatively strict. Arsenal cannot climb out of their malaise without significant input, whether from the owner, or through a Rights issue.

If we can get rid of players like Almunia, Squillaci, Denilson, Arshavin and Bendtner not only will we pick up handy fees (15-20 mill total?) but it'd get rid of over 200k of wages per week that could go to more deserving players.

Sums up how much of an overhaul we need on the wage structure though.

Probably joining them on the way out are Chamakh, Diaby and Vela so we would have something around 300-350k of wages freed and at least 30m from transfer fees.

With those we could easily offer major rise to RVP and pay for Hazard / Götze transfer.

Also been reading we are interested in Msakni. Seen some videos of him and he looks quite good.

That's great though, but who would buy them?

Almunia - on his last contract due to age, and gaff prone
Squillaci - *****
Denilson - ***** even in Brazil
Arshavin - might get 6m for him if we're lucky, wages may be a problem
Bendtner - utter ****, would stay to spite us, needs to find some form at S'land so they opt to purchase him
Diaby - injury prone
Vela - might sell him to Spain for peanuts
Chamakh - again, wages will be a problem

That's the whole problem with this wages thing, you sign players like Denilson on 60k and you -can not- tell him as he just blocks personal terms as he's being made into a multi millionaire while playing like **** for the reserves.

Arshavin is out of contract in the summer, no chance you're getting decent money for him.

Almunia leaving on free, as is Fabianski .
Squillaci was good back in the day in Monaco and there were reports they'd want him back.
Arshavin is still regarded as a quality player and will probably fetch around 10m. Also wages wont be problem for russian clubs.
Bendtner's transfer fee just needs to be lowered.
Diaby. Almost everyone is injury prone at Arsenal. Surprise surprise Cesc hasnt had slightest injury problems since leaving us. I read somewhere thats something to do with more specialised training regimes. Transfer fee wont be high.
Vela could fetch something like 5m at max.
Chamakh has had offers in january and will be taken back to Bordeux.

Denilson and Bendtner are only players which I'm worried we might not be able to offload easily. Denilson especially. Bendtner will be out if we lower our transfer fee requirements.

Transfer fee's arent the big issue here. The most important thing is just to get them off our wage budget. Every £ we get from transfer fee's is just a bonus.

I think I saw somewhere that he has still one year left in his contract.

I remember reading that his contract was up at the end of the season when the Jan window started, then again the press may have made that up, or the club has a 1 year extension clause on his contract.

Almunia - his contract is over this season, nothing much to worry on. Flaps will be our 2nd choice GK
Squillaci - end up some were in France
Denilson - Tricky one, but 6m is agreed if sao paulo want him in full.
Arshavin - same as you said. depends too how he does in the Euros for Russia too
Bendtner - either sunderland, or somewhere else. and his number, 52, stands for the wage he is earning, not sure about that one
Vela - he said he wants to stay in real solidcad.
Chamakh - back to Bordeaux, like they tried in janurary, or else where in europe.

Ah you make it sound so so easy...

don't think he made it that easy. As he mentioned, Almunia's contract will be up. Denilson in my opinion, could have a part to play as a squad player next season. I think he's a good player on the ball, and his anticipation is of a competant ability. Vela wants out, as does Bendtner, which suggests their wage demands are perhaps not as demanding as a player who would want to stay. Arshavin will likely end up back in Russia, money's not really an issue is it? Chamakh and Diaby will be the hard ones, but if Diaby passes a medical anywhere then that club needs to take a long hard look at itself. Also, Chamakh had relative success in France, and he's clearly frustrated at the lack of game time. Just like Squillaci. Although I think everyone's realised this has been a fail, so I don't really know what to say on him.

I don't think it will be that hard to find buyers for the players mentioned, bar one or two.

if denilson was playing like he did playing along side Cesc in that 4-4-2 formation, then thats fine, but if its like last year, then no.

chamahk is a good player, but he has had much game time, and doesn't fit in our style play as of now. a number of clubs are in for him btw.

i nearly forgot about diaby this season XD, but he is decent though. injuries kill him
ABOU DIABY – THE FORGOTTEN MAN | CWDailyGooner

squills is a shame. a player with such experience turns out bad. never should have moved tbh, he's not an epl defender.

as for arshavin, he needs his confidence back, and no wonder he played in the reserves game a day before, and netting a brace too.

I think we need to sign a playmaker, and employ Song and Arteta/Wilshere to sit in, giving this player full creative license.

Song - Arteta

*AMC*

Something like that^

Ramsey could be a backup for both the AMC and deeper roles, and Denilson is almost a poor man's Arteta. Ball retention being his main asset. A decent long-shot, and I think he actually reads the game pretty decently. Didn't want to see him out on loan this season, and is a player whom I think was scapegoated a lot.

I'm not saying it's vital what so ever to keep Denilson, rather that its an option. Of course, we have emerging talents in the form of Coquelin and Frimpong, whom wages combined probably match Denilson's. If we can shift him, great. If not, let's give him a chance as a squad player.

Wilshere. nuff said. he can fill that spot, imo. rosciky is to old for it.

Yeah, that's another option, but I was thinking someone established (sort-of) to take that role. Remember Wilsh can sit deep as he's good in the tackle too.

Marvin Martin would be my choice if Hazard is off the cards.

Has anyone seen Marvin Martin play this season? I was wondering because I haven't heard anything about him for awhile. Sochaux is also sitting dead last in Ligue 1 so if that is any sign of how he is playing I'd be wary. If this whole 100m transfer kitty is to be believed I really don't know what to think. If I remember last summer we were supposedly going to have a 75m transfer budget but we all see what happened there. Just get Gotze and Hazard and I will consider us to be legitly trying to contend for the title.

Marvin Martian has always excelled in the French national team when I've watched them.

it shouldn't be believed. the article is based on no quotes from any kind of authority.

our transfer budget relies on CL football. If we get top-four this season, expect us to have a budget of around 50-60m (which includes signings wages). In which case, Hazard and Götze, however much I'd love them at the Emirates, are simply not viable, especially the latter.
