Australian selectors choosing Beer...

****, that leaves me with a bitter taste.

Beer is the lad that Warne has been tipping apparently, so he must be decent. He picked up 4 or 5 wickets domestically this week so he's got some form.

Yeah now this is something I don't understand. Warne is a great of the game, but this doesn't necessarily mean that when he tips someone they'll turn out good. He's not a scout, after all.

IMO though i dont think it matters who they play, we are still more than good enough to take the ashes home with us regardless. It is all on us to win the series, its up to them not to lose it.

Agreed. If we lose this, we have only ourselves to blame.

****, that leaves me with a bitter taste.

And we got 4 posts in before a Beer pun. XD

If England are any good and have anything about them they need to win this series at least 3-0 as a good australian team would have done the same if england where in this much disarray

You what? Any win against Australia is successful, regardless of what state they're in.

And Beer wouldn't have been selected if not for Warne, IMO.

A win in Australia by any margin is a win in Australia, maybe you should worry about getting test status yourself first mate ;)

This really surprises me, Bollinger is dropped yet since his test debut in 2009, he has been the most consistent of all the Aussie bowlers, It seems to me he is being used as a scapegoat for the awful display in the last test of the entire side. Phil Hughes, this must lead to Tremlett inclusion, Hughes cant play the shirt ball around his neck/shoulder region, Freddie got him out by using it in 2009 and I expect England to target such area again this time round. The inclusion of smith is another silly move in my opinion, he is nothing more then an good spinner and a good batsmen, without excelling in either department. The Dropping of Doherty was very expected but the inclusion of Beer is another strange decision, he has played very little first class matches, whilst he got a fiver for Aussies A, he is not ready or will he ever be for international Test match Series. This shows a real weakness in there ranks.

A couple of odd decisions from Australia there, dropping Bollinger is one I'm very surprised about. Now I don't proclaim myself to know everything about cricket, but this does appear to be one of the weakest Aussie sides in a long, long time. Let's hope we can make the most of this and be as clinical as possible batting, bowling and fielding.

God knows what the selectors are playing at picking Beer, he has only played 5 first-class games for the mother of god, anyways I could not care less BARMY ARMY!!!!!!!!1

Nathan Hauritz has had an Aussie version of a paddy after being left out for the 3rd tests against England, by selling his test gear outside his Sydney apartment.

he remarked to Sydney press "i don't play for them anymore"

GROW UP YOU ***!

All in Fairness to Hauritz, he has been treated like ******* **** by the selectors... He was number one spinner, he has 63 wickets in 17 tests, and he is behind no ******* hopers, like Doherty and now Beer, I be ****** as well.

I totally agree with that aspect! But you don't do that to your country...

ye i know the selectors pick the side and that is who he is ****** at, but if it were me i would prove them wrong on the pitch then come out in public confused as to why im being left out.

not sell my stuff on the street like some disheartened child.

i dont rate hauritz tbh, but he is their best option for sure, i am clueless to why they wont select him

Hauritz is definately not their best option.

I see that, but he is 29 now, and the others may be younger, but they certainly arent better then him, He has been treated like ****, and it is wrong.

Hauritz is definately not their best option.

He most clearly is, unless your trying to imply they bring sharno out of retirement, he is easily there best spinner.

29... i did not realise that lol ye what a joke! He is there best equipped and most experienced and he is being ignored.... what a joke

The first option would be to get Warne back, if that's not possible (which I assume it's not) then they move onto the following...

They've got plenty of guys who can bowl part-time, so why not use them. Cameron White, Marcus North, Michael Clark, Simon Katich etc. are all capable of bowling part-time so if two of them share the spinning duties, they're sorted.

You've also got guys like Jason Krejza, Bryce McGain, Steven Smith, Steve O'Keefe etc. who all have better FC averages than the horrific 42 of Hauritz. If Australia want to play with a full-timer, there's plenty of options above him. (And yet, they manage to pick one of the few spinners below him, it's amazing).

I refer you to Peter Taylor, who was 30 when picked for his first test for the Aussies, and was so unheard of, people thought it was a different Taylor (Mark) who was his team mate in State cricket. He then to 6/78 in his first test.

Part timers-- Really are 2 part timers going to match Swann, which ultimately is what they need to do..

Smith is more of an Batsman, As it has been written about him many times, Most recently by Aussie Leadership coach Justin Langer, Smith is an competent batsman and bowler, without excelling in either. The others are young and in experience, for this tour they need people who know what they are doing and wont get fazed by the big stage.. As England will attack them.

Shane Warne is an no hoper.

Match Swann? No current international spinner can match Swann, so you're talking bull there as no-one can do it at the moment.

Finn is young and inexperienced yet is having a great time out there despite a more than solid Australian batting lineup. What's to say these Australian spinners who have excelled at FC over a number of years won't excel at Test, similarly to Finn.

Solid Aussie batting line up. Really this England side is the Aussie side of past times, what you are asking of these Spinners is to come in against a team on top form, Finn has come in against a team low on confidence, Would Finn be this good against Hayden, Langer the old Aussie, No. Just like Jimmy couldn't handle it all them years ago. You cant throw someone in against a side in top form( England) with top players( England), when you are out of form( Australia) and with the pressures of the Ashes series, and expect them to perform, It is foolish to say the very least.
