January Update

Berba_358x283.jpg

We had an extremely busy month with the transfer window opening and four league games and four cup games including the Semi Final of the League Cup against Man Utd.

picture.php

We where very unlucky against Utd in both legs losing each by the single goal. It took an early strike from Berbatov to shake us of at Old Trafford and we had just as many chances as they did at the Hawthorns. It was a good experience for the players and that is the level we want to be playing at next season.

We are also in the hat for the next round of the FA cup after wins against Bristol City and Hartlepool.

In the league we picked up five points out of twelve but we our not to disappointed in this as this was our hardest month by a county mile with the four cup games and league games against Newcastle, Forest, Ipswich and Sheff Utd.

Our five points see's us drop to third in the table level on points with second place Bristol City, with Forest still cruising on top.

This months Performance of the Month is a strange one because we lost the game but the League Cup Semi Final First Leg defeat to Man Utd gets the award. This is because the battling qualities and defensive skills we showed in this game was brilliant.

There was a couple of stand out performances this month when we needed them but none more so than young centre back Craig Cathcart who is on loan from Man Utd. So Craig is award Player of the Month because of his impressive displays at the back and he also managed to score two goals as well.

This month's Goal of the Month goes to David Goodwillie who scored a great goal against Bristol City. Goodwillie rounded a few defenders before smashing the ball into the net from a tight angle.

Overall I am quite pleased with what was a hectic month. We battled hard against Utd in both legs and have progressed in the FA Cup. In the league we picked up five points which keeps us at the right end of the table. We will now try an push on and secure an automatic promotion spot.

I have also dipped my toes into the transfer water and will do a transfer update after this one ;)

I'll probably take look at this when I'm online. Haven't seen a West Brom story before, but had an epic save with them myself :) Won the Championship 1st season, game 9th in the EPL second season :) Best signing was Hazard =D

Cheers mate. Did you get Hazard in your 2nd season?

Nice update ;)

Will be nice to see who you signed in the Jan transfer window (H)

You will see in the next update. Fairly pleased with my new boys :D

Transfer Update

The club was fairly busy during the transfer window but we left it late before bringing in any new faces bringing in all four of our signings in the last couple of days.

Our first signing of the window was to bring young Irish/Australian defender Shane Lowry to the club from Aston Villa in a deal worth around 500k. I am happy to get a bargain on a player that could become a regular in my side.

Next we managed to capture our biggest and most expensive signing of the window. We signed Hearts wingers Andrew Driver for a fee of 1.8 Million pounds. I am delighted to have pushed this deal through and I feel we have signed a real gem of a player here who will certainly put pressure on Brunt and Slory for a starting place.

Our last two signings where two loan deals we managed to push through on deadline day.

Firstly we got experienced midfielder Papa Bouba Diop on loan til the end of the season from Portsmouth. Papa will provide great experience for the lads and should play a few games between now and the end of the season.

The second of the loan deal was for Wigan youngster Victor Moses who joins til the end of the season. Victor can play either side of the attacking trio and up top as well so the loan deal was ideal as he will provide cover for all areas.

Overall I am delighted with the personal I have managed to get in during the window. I hope the new faces will freshen things up and we can push on for promotion. Also the return of Miller and Morrison from long term injury is like two new signings for the club which is great news :D

As well as getting new players to the club we also had to let a few leave the club for different reasons.

picture.php

We firstly let three of our younger players leave the club on loan in order to gain some experience. Chris Wood joined Toulouse for the rest of the season, while Giles Barnes joined Mk Dons. Marcus Haber also joined Maccelsfield for the reminder of the season.

Wigan then came in with a bid for Cech that we couldn't turn down and so he had to let the left sider player move to Wigan for a fee of 2.5 Million. Cech is a good player but was playing second fiddle to Mttock for most of the season so we let him go for a nice 2.5 Million.

The last player to leave the club was striker Roman Bender who left the club to join FC Lorient for around 2.5 Million. Roman had a bad injury and never really got back into the first team as we only played the one striker. I would have liked to keep Roman but he didn't want to sit on the bench so it was only far to let him go and the fee was a nice as well.

Overall I am fairly pleased as we managed to take in 5 Million pounds which is quite a bit of money. I am confident that the player I have left in my squad are capable of taking us out of this division.

February Update

The club had six league games this month as well as the FA Cup 5th round tie with Chelsea :D

picture.php

Again this month we had mixed fortunes. We won three league games, drew one and lost twice against Plymouth and Sheff Wed. We need to cut down on these silly defeats or they will end up costing us at the end of the season.

We also exited the FA Cup after a battling display against Chelsea where we eventually went down to a Suarez goal. All the big teams in the cups we have played have struggled against us which is pleasing and I hope we can continue to play well against the big teams.

The ten points we picked up from six league games this month see's us sit in fourth place on 61 points four points behind 3rd and 2nd placed Newcastle and Middlesbrough and nine points behind first place Forest.

We played quite well this month apart from two bad displays against Plymouth and Wednesday. However our best performances where against Chelsea and the Performance of the Month was against Cardiff where we recorded a good 1-0 away win.

This months Player of the Month goes to Chris Brunt who was in exceptional form scoring three goals and creating three. Brunt has been ever present this season and is attracting attention from several premier league clubs. I feel if we don't go up this year we will lose Brunt in the summer.

This months Goal of the Month also goes to Chris Brunt who scored a real screamer against Scunthrope. After several great passes Brunt lobbed the ball over the Irons keeper from the edge of the area.

Overall this month again has been one of mixed emotions. We played great football at times but the two slip up's against Plymouth and Wednesday have caused us to slip out of the automatic places. We must try and kick on to make sure we at least finish in the Play-Offs and try our best for the auto spots.

Good story keep it up, screenshot a table every so often so we know whats going on with the league :).
