Decent goal. His willingness to come forward was good to see but he was extremely fortunate that McAusland, Mair, Tesselaar and Barron were standing so far off him. Decent finish too.

Is he Scottish?

Yes he is Scottish, I am hearing he has Irish roots so I wouldnt mind him doing a McGeady. (he has also taken McGeadys number so......)

Fair play to Saint Mirren for trying to play against us. But it was never going to work.

Meh, I'm not too sure, we got a point at Ibrox from our possession and passing game, but yesterday I felt that our manager made unneccessary changes. I don't know why he brought in Ilias Haddad, who has been very poor recently and has also suffered a family bereavement which has probably played in his mind a lot more than the small matter of football has and dropped Graham Carey, who is not only a fantastic player, he also had a point to prove against Celtic. Big Thompson should've been on from the start with Hasselbaink on the left wing, if we were going to score goals in this, we'd need Hasselbaink's pace and skills to run past Loovens/Majstorovic and Thommo to bully Majstorovic all game again. Tesselaar has never played in such a huge stadium before and he got serious stage fright, David Barron should've played at left back. I don't know why Danny Lennon went back to 4-4-2 either as we have used 4-3-3 at most of our games, including Ibrox and performed extremely well. When I heard the line-up, I was very surprised that Danny would take so many gambles in one game, if we were going to make so many silly changes (in my opinion), we'd be as well sending out the youth team for some experience.

I'm not saying that if we made these changes we would've got something but that side would have at least made the scoreline more respectable. 5-0 didn't even flatter Celtic, they deserved every one they got and we deserved to get humped.

Having said that, I'm still delighted we're in the top 6 and hopefully we'll get back to winning ways against Inverness next week :)

Hearing the Mikeal Lustig deal is done. Joining on the 1/1/12. This leaves us with 4rb on the books atm :/

Im sure Cha will go in the summer when his deal is up and Wilson (whos contract is also up in the summer) must be leaving as well. I think I would rather Wilson to stay than us sign Lustig, despite his injury proneness he is still a very good player and always give 110%. Matthews has to be 1st choice though, great wee player.

Edit: Forgot about Jaurez as well, why have we got 5 right backs on our books FFS.

I think the right back positions will be between Matthews and Lustig. In my opinion Cha will be going, Wilson maybe as a back up when needed but could be a chance he'll be off as well and Juarez, while a natural right back, is a midfield player as well and he's actually said that he wants to play in midfield more. Unfortunately, I think Juarez will be going as well because I can't see how he will break into the team as it is just now. Who knows though.

Lustig can actually play in central defence as well, so could be a chance that he could play there at times alongside Mulgrew. Back four at times could well be something like Matthews Lustig Mulgrew Izzy. Lustig is 6' 3", is pretty pacy as well and has got himself a good few goals too. Whether he's used as a central defender or in his more natural right back position I think we have got a good signing.

I pray he's good in central defence, I remember before Loovens came everyone said he was supposed to be really good!oO)

In fairness Loovens did start out pretty decent for us from what I remember but I think there was a run of matches where he made mistakes, his confidence suffered big time and just never seemed to recover from that. I think a lot of that coincided with Mowbray taking over and we all know how that stint went. Lately he's been not too bad though and has been playing decent stuff. A few shaky moments but not as bad as what he used to be. Confidence can play a big part in it :D

I don't know a huge amount about Lustig - only from what I have read about him. Never seen him play so I can't comment on that but from what I gather he's what I mentioned before - pretty tall, very pacy and likes to attack. He got 14 goals in 95 league appearances with Rosenborg - not too shabby for a defender.

Think he'll be a decent purchase for us - especially as we got him on a free.

Supposedly we asked Rangers to pay for their tickets for the next game up front XD

UEFA have today announced a fine of 15,000 euros against Celtic for ´illicit´ chanting at the recent UEFA Europa League tie against Rennes at Celtic Park.

"A Celtic spokesperson said: "We received notification of the fine this afternoon with no detail. The Club is currently considering its position."

We are getting fined for something and they havnt even told us what we done wrong?
I am guessing it is for "singing up the RA"

The songs can be bought on any high-street so I fail to see how they are Forbidden by law, rules, custom etc.

The club better appeal this decision, the fine is pretty irrelevant but it is the principal.

Liewell and Co, inculduing Neil Lennon have already said the pro IRA addons in songs have to be stopped but yet they havn't. They wont win the appeal as they have no leg to stand on.

I am just happy one of Glasgow finest Strathclyde police officers was there to report this to the UEFA delagate:)

I think this is true and I think Rankgers has (or is) going down the same road and wanting Celtic to pay for their allocation up front for the next derby game at Ipox oO) We aint the ones that's skint which is the reason why we want our money up front :D

They aint forbidden by law, mate - they are just against UEFA's rules and even though they are no way near as bad as that lots singing about "up to their knees in Fenian blood" and "The Famine Song" etc it is all now classed as "illicit". We still haven't been told exactly what it was that was supposed to be "illicit" though but it's more than likely the "Up The RA" chants.

The club's not appealing the decision either and to be honest they can't appeal it when they have asked fans to stop the IRA add-on's. We all know that songs like Boys Of The Old Brigade, Soldiers Song etc for example are not sectarian and are not bigoted but the mere mentioning of the IRA causes offence to some people and to the uneducated about what those songs are REALLY about.

Nowadays, things like that won't get ignored the way it was, say 10 years ago, and for the sake of Celtic FC I hope that fans stop the chanting at the games because if we don't we will get hammered and will end up going down the same path as the manky lot.

At least they are trying to do something about it instead of coming out and wanting to know "who told on them" and trying to blame everyone else apart from the obvious.

Also, I wonder if the constabulary's finest will report any of the "illicit" singing by the Rankgers fans against Hibs, who were singing "we hate Celtic fenian bastards" during "Super Rangers" song but I very much doubt it. Double standards are funny things huh?

I really doesnt matter what they say though, just because they dont like the songs (in public) doesnt make them illegal.

Isnt the guy that reported us to UEFA the same guy that reported us to the SPL? Defiantly no bias from him then.......

No mention of the actually illicit singing that happened at Easter road from him either.

The chants are less illicit than Flower of Scotland.
UEFA's rules are a joke, they say no political chants, songs, etc. Yet 75% + of national anthems are political. Political chanting is a weekly event at dozens of clubs thoughout Europe.

The club are asking the fans to stop as they fear it is giving them a bad name which may result in less profits for them. We shouldnt be forced to change what we sing to suit ignorant people that refuse to research what the songs are about but are happy to be offended by them.

Edit: Seen this posted on a forum, couldnt agree more....

2003 - UEFA are patting us on the back for our outstanding support.

2011 - UEFA are fining and vilifying us for our outstanding support.

What has changed in 8 years? It sure as **** hasn't been our song sheet!

End of the day, you have to comply with their rules. whether you like their rules is another thing.

But if we cant sing political songs then the likes of Barca, Bilbao, St. Pauli, PAOK FC, etc. should also get fined for doing the same?

I would happily sing something like ooh ah Up the Celts or ooh ah Tiocfaidh Ar La but I dont think it is fair that we are getting fined and embarrassed for doing something that dozens of others do on a weekly basis.

You should know by now. UEFA do things when they feel like it to anybody they feel like doing it too. I might send them a backbone courtesy of Ebay some day
