The chants are less illicit than Flower of Scotland.
UEFA's rules are a joke, they say no political chants, songs, etc. Yet 75% + of national anthems are political. Political chanting is a weekly event at dozens of clubs thoughout Europe.

I know this and you know this and for some strange reason the national anthems are not included in the "illicit" ruling so fans can belt them out all they want.

We both - and the majority of Celtic supports I presume - know that the songs like the ones I mentioned are not glorifying sectarianism, bigotry, hate etc but because people will find them offensive we will get done because of the rulings. As soon as a lot of people hear anything to do with IRA they immediately think of groups like the PIRA & the RIRA and not what the songs are actually about BECAUSE they don't know either because they are ignorant, misinformed or just don't want to know.

It was found out that the chant that got the club fined was the "Oh Ah Up The RA" and not the songs like Boys Of The Old Brigade etc. I think it's a very easy thing to change and the thing is if add-on's like that are not changed/stopped then we will get fined again.

I don't have any problem with fans singing the political songs about the Republicanism etc but for the sake of the club getting into more trouble the add-on's like "Oh Ah Up The RA" need to stop. If they don't then we become as bad as that lot with them thinking that it's ok to sing their Billy Boys ****.

The club are asking the fans to stop as they fear it is giving them a bad name which may result in less profits for them. We shouldnt be forced to change what we sing to suit ignorant people that refuse to research what the songs are about but are happy to be offended by them.

Edit: Seen this posted on a forum, couldnt agree more....

The thing is it will give the club a bad name, tarnish the reputation and probably in the end mean less profits because if it continues games will be played behind closed doors or fans will be banned from attending games.

Like I said above, we know that the songs are not illegal but the chanting of things like "Oh Ah Up The RA" is considered "illicit" in UEFA's rulings and whether they are ignorant to the facts or not we have to abide by the rulings.

The club are not asking to stop songs like A Soldier's Song, Boys Of The Old Brigade, Fields Of Athenry etc. They are asking that the add-on's like the Up The RA one and the PI PI PIRA one (which granted was only chanted at the Hearts game back in May I think it was and for the first time in years by what I have heard) be stopped. The board have asked for the chants to be stopped as well as Neil Lennon himself. Even the great Jock Stein when he was in charge asked the fans not to chant/sing the kind of things that are getting chanted now.

If we don't stop them then, again like I say, the fines will happen again until we are punished more severely.

The times have changed within the space of 8 years since the UEFA & FIFA fans awards for Fair Play but were these awards not given because of the behaviour of the fans at the Cup Final (and throughout) - not because of a songsheet.

Unless we change with the times and drop the add-on's we will continue to get fined and eventually be hammered like the manky lot.

It's ok - I'm sure he'll do a stand up job. Just like the last time he reffed a derby game between us and..........ohhhhhhh wait........

Haha. :) 2 Rangers penalties, big Fraser forster to save both and celtic win the game 2-0 against the huns. What a christma present that would be.

Emilio just played 90 minutes in a bounce game vs. Morton and got an assist :D
He might be fit for the game against Rangers!!!! Kev Wilson also got 90minutes.

The bounce game finished 3-1 with Bangura getting 2 and George with the other goal.

The team was:
Feely
Fisher (Jones) - Toshney - K Wilson - Izaguirre
George - McGeouch - F Twardzik (
Irvine) - Blackman
Bangura (Watt) - Keatings(McGregor)

Good to see Keatings back as well.

Good God, man, don't say this too loud. Look who the ref is for the match. That lot will be diving about more than an Olympic diving squad :D

Hope we pump them more than just 2-0 though.

Yeh would be good for Izzy to make a comeback and depending on how he is between now and Saturday might even start then. Don't wanna rush him though but it's looking good. Only thing that would worry me is players like McCulloch looking to take Izzy out again. I'm not saying that anyone of that lot would deliberately injure one of our players but you know that a good few tackles would go in.

Ledley will be back as well for us so it's starting to get to the time where it will be options a-plenty :D

I'd like to see a line-up something like this -

If Izzy would definitely be ok he can be in his usual position and Ledley could go into center alongside Brown. I don't know about Samaras though cos I would love to see Stokes start but the way Sammy has been playing the last couple of weeks it would be tough to drop him.

Looks a great line up. Sammy has been brilliant recently on the wing unrecognisable, I reckon he'll tear them apart.

Here's hoping anyway. Especially if Auld Man Weir comes in for Goian :D

We shall not we shall not be moved,
We shall not we shall not be moved,
Not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the Rangers
We shall not we shall not be moved!!!!!

Good team display in conditions that did not suit us at all. MOTM was Kayal for me. Covered every inch of the pitch and his all round game was top notch as always. Good to hear he wont be out for long. I was picturing another Izzy moment.

Superb result tonight AND to be honest I don't think we were going full steam either as the weather played a big part in it but was still a good performance overall also.

15 points behind that lot at the beginning of November to 2 points ahead towards the end of December. What a comeback. I know that them playing **** in a few matches has helped BUT we had to do it ourselves as we couldn't actually rely on anyone else getting points from them. Just so happens that St Johnstone, St Mirren and Kilmarnock have taken points off them but us playing a lot better than what we were prior to November have contributed greatly to us regaining top spot.

Hard to pick a man of the match for me. The midfield were solid and controlled the match, especially Kayal and Wanyama (who's turning out to be a beast for us). Rogne and Mulgrew were solid in defence, as was Matthews (who done excellent for his very first derby game) and Ledley

Samaras was good again also (still a bit frustrating with some of his runs though but can be forgiven on this occasion :D).

Should give us huge momentum to kick on now and hopefully get that title back from the depths of Mordor and back to Paradise.

One of the least disgusting things they done at the game last night..........

parkheads falling down - YouTube

Imagine if we sung about Ibrokes falling down? Stupid huns anyway, thier broke club (or Aluko) will be paying for the damages.

Put that together along with damaged chairs as well then it's yet another bill for them.

I remember we got banned from Ibrokes in 1994 for one game because of us supposedly damaging some chairs. Think it's about time that Celtic done the same here.

They'll get theirs though when Hector comes a-knocking.

Great result the other night! The title will hopefully be ours at the end of the season, and rankers will go bust.

Kayal will now be out for at least a month :(

Injured by a player that should have been serving a ban for violent conduct.

That sucks.

But, don't be like that.. O'Neill has done the same thing McCoist did before.

Yea, it is more the fault of the amateur organisation that is the SFA than McCoists.

If the loophole is there they are entitled to take it. Just like we did with Lennons ban last year as well.

I hope you're not blaming the player for the injury, it was a 50/50 ball that they both got to clean, but the way they struck the ball at the same time, meant the ball sprung off and his foot rolled up into the ankle. Both players were rightly committed both got there at the same time. No one's fault Kayal was just unlucky

Just a reminder for everyone that bigoted remarks will not be tolerated on our forums.
