Well tbh we are not going to go far with a 50 mil flop, a 32 year old has been and a mid table quality striker.

Looks like I'm going to be reusing certain joke a lot this season :P

Only listened to the game as i was at work AGAIN but listened to it and have just seen the highlights and seemed as if we deserved the defeat tonight. Yes its a very bad result and performance but lets not forget you win nothing in September. I don't think we as a team have the midfield 2 balance right and this is something i have been saying for ages but that aside one thing has stuck out for me in the last 3 matches.

Centre back partnerships so far this season:
Terry and Cahill: P-3 W-2 D-1 L-0
Cahill and Luiz: P-3 W-0 D-1 L-2

Keep the faith! WOLUTB

What i really didn't understand was when we had two strikers on the pitch Eto'o was out on the left wing the whole time and Ba on the right. Must be something to do with our system that prevents strikers actually playing as strikers. We are playing with 4-5 attacking mids every game basically.

That's kind of what we need but with proper wingers! The team is still unbalanced and has been for a good 24 months.

I just don't get what's so hard about getting into the box and being down the middle surely Mourinho tells the strikers to get into these areas but they don't. Took Eto'o 89 minutes to get a chance on goal last night that says alot.

Wish more people had that attitude, the amount of 'supporters' calling this a crisis is deeply depressing.

to be fair, a certain spanish man, would have been booed to the rafters over this.

I don't know what else would you call it, considering Benitez somehow managed to beat both Everton and Basel, playing 11 man three times a week without fuckton of new signings.

Jose needs to suck up his ego and start playing Rafa's squad and system, which actually worked amazingly well at the end of last season. Especially since your transfers didn't really adress the imbalances in the team, just added plenty of depth.

This is what does my head in with Chelsea fans apparently if you criticise one thing Jose gets wrong you are a plastic fan and it was a similar saying last season if you praised anything rafa did right you were a plastic fan. Also some fans criticising people calling our bad form a crisis after 6 games were saying the same after rafas first 3 in which we drew 2 and lost 1.

Whether you liked it him not, Rafa had an excellent system, that just needed more quality. Like he has now at Napoli.

He certainly wouldn't have spunked 30 on Willian to spite Chelsea when you really needed an upgrade on Mikel (Gustavo), and a proper centre forward, rather than lowballing on Rooney.

Agree we did do well under rafa and could have done better if we had more depth and we seemed to perform well against the top sides only times I can remember us being pretty poor were when we lost to city and the first half of the cup tie against utd but even then rafa realised his mistakes, changed things and we came back and went on to progress to the next round.

As much as I am happy Willian is a Chelsea player he really wasnt needed and I agree completely spending the whole window only targeting Wayne Rooney was beyond stupid (was stupid even thinking about signing Rooney in the first place let alone bidding utd would never sell a player of his quality to potential tital rivals) and because of this we had to make a panic signing right at the end bringing in a washed up 32 year old who from what I have heard has spent the last couple of seasons playing pretty average in Russia.

To be fair, there are no other world-class strikers in the market so who else could he have gone for? Cavani was way too expensive. Lewandowski has his heart set on Bayern so far at least. Falcao was too expensive as well. Can't think of anyone else who would have been a significant upgrade to Lukaku, Torres and Ba

Falcao and Cavani were expensive but would they be worth it if they got us 30+ goals a season? Not as if Roman would miss the money much anyway.

We did spend that type of money on a supposedly world-class striker a couple of seasons ago remember? Where did that get us? The potential risk attached with such transfers is just too big

A good start would have been to not let Lukaku go.

Torres wasn't really a risk. Just incredibly stupid.
