Balotelli is a risk, one that we can't take without an established striker around. Assuming that Eto'o and Ba leave in the summer and we get a real striker in January, he would be an interesting summer buy if the price is right, but when we need a consistent goal scorer? No way.

The same Balotelli who left this country because of the English media? Can't see it.

haha knowing Balotelli though, anything is possible

If I'm not mistaken, he also said something along the lines of "he's currently playing at 25% of his ability; if he plays at 50%, he'll be the best player in the world; if he plays at 100%, he'll be the best player of all time". Balotelli would be a very interesting signing for a number of reasons.

Yep he did say that and someone like Mourinho saying that just goes to show what a talent he is

There are no real strikers available in January though which is why I feel Balotelli is a risk worth taking in January ... He is the sort who on his day is unplayable and can win you games on his own and Mourinho handled him pretty well at Inter. Plus even if he takes time to adapt, we will still be getting one of the best young players in the world. Him and Lukaku would be a great strike-force

AC Milan came out and denied the news report of Balotelli wanting a move... Then Mino Raiola ccame out and said Balotelli wants to leave in January and mentioned Chelsea as one of the options. Plus we were remotely linked to him
in the summer. Something is definitely up

balotelli should stay far away, far too inconsistent and has too many mood swings, ideally you want a yes man striker who is great at his job!

Has Diego Costa been linked with Chelsea yet? He'd be a great signing, even if he's unproven outside of Spain! The price would be a problem for most clubs, but not for Chelsea.

We would have to pay through our noses for Diego Costa whereas Balotelli would be cheaper since he wants to leave and Milan are undergoing pretty serious financial problems

Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; David Luiz, Lampard; Willian, Oscar, Hazard;Eto'o. Subs: Schwarzer, Cole, Essien, Mikel, Schurrle,Mata, Torres.

Another big game with Mata on the bench. As much as I like Oscar, I do feel like Jose's playmaker experiment has failed. His defensive contributions are useful but he hasn't really created a lot in the league this season and we've really been reliant on Hazard to provide creativity.

Thing is, people seem to think we are exaggerating when we say we need Mata every game. We are clearly not.

We don't need him every game, but there have been lots of times this season when we have looked awfully predictable and he's stayed unused. Of course, Oscar had a great game today, got what I believe is his first league assist, and makes me look like a **** :P

Good performance, nice to see us actually kill a game off considering how many times we've given away a one goal lead this season. It was a bit ropey, and we got a little bit lucky with Eto's moment of madness but overall very solid. At times, we looked pretty unplayable and everything seemed to click. More of that please!

Magnificent game today. Our pressing and defensive organisation was top-notch. Hazard, Willian and Oscar were magnificent. That said, our defensive set-pieces are a concern but we also lacking some luck there

All I all, good place to be in. With the right signings in January, we can definitely make a serious push for the top

Willian is a real quality player and extremely hard working which I didn't expect ... Should be a starter for Brazil next WC

Would like to point out how effectively we cut off Suarez's supply too. Without him finding space, pulling defenders about and getting the ball reliably, he looked impotent. The few times he did threaten, he was doubled up on and cut out easily. We got fairly lucky with some of the decisions but, unlike City last week, we didn't need to rely on poor finishing and good fortune to stop a world class player from tearing us apart.

Luiz suspended for Southampton and Ivanovic and Lampard probably will miss the game too through injury. Although the good news is that Ramires will be back :D

anybody hear what mourinho said to suarez coming out at halftime?

jose: "hey you want a bite of london pie? "

"come play for the specail one"

"play for a championes league team"

"how much they pay you? well pay you triple! "

suraez : <big goofy laugh> "uh hu haha"

As usual i was nervous as **** before the game but when i saw the line-up i was confident. Luiz in midfield did confuse me slightly as we all heard Jose say he wouldn't do it but we all know Jose likes to tell porkies.

On the game itself i personally think we bossed 60-70 minutes of the game and i mean totally outplayed them. Suarez was kept more quiet then at any other point this season and the reason for this was we stopped the supply to Suarez early on so he started dropping deeper and deeper to get involved in the game.

Now on to the whole Mata thing! The amount of ***** posted when the line-ups come out and Mata's name is not in the 11 is absolutely embarrassing! Today showed the reason exactly why he is not included, the amount of leg work and interceptions put in by mainly Oscar and Willian today was nothing short of a miracle. Not only them but Eto'o was sprinting in the 80th minute to chase down a back pass to Mignolet and he done this for the whole 80 minutes he was on.

On the two penalty shouts both in my eyes are penalties so i make that even, so lets leave it there.

Every single player deserves full praise today as does Jose and as do the supporters who were very vocal at times in the game.

UTC! ******* excellent performance and win!

Inter's sporting director was at the Bridge yesterday so I imagine a deal for Guarin is pretty close which is great news
