I think it's more to do with the skill-set he offers rather than pure ability alone. We have been crying out for a dominant all-round midfield presence for the past few seasons since Ballack left and Essien's knees gave up on him and Matic fits that profile. Not to mention that CM has generally been a weak area for us and Matic coming in shores that up significantly

I am quite pleased with this signing ... I think he will be immense for us once he settles

Best part of all this means that Chelsea essentially paid 45mil for Luiz <)
 
Some great business from Mourinho so far, in signing Matić and selling De Bruyne. Signed someone in a weak position; sold someone from a position where there are too many players for a net spend of peanuts. Good business.

Yeah. We should emphasize the fact we got a good player for ~20mil. Brilliant business.

No-one said he was Pirlo to be fair. He is however a centre/defensive mid with the attributes who will actually suit 4-2-3-1 unlike both Lampard and Ramires.

Excellent business from the club, i have a feeling more of this will happen in the summer too including the departure of Courtois!
 
Seems as though Michael Essien is getting closer and closer to leaving the club. It really is a huge shame injuries have cut his Chelsea career short over the years the man should be in his prime right now but instead is half the player he was 4/5 years back.
 
Guardian reporting that we are monitoring Zouma and Shaw very closely. Good chance that we can tie up Zouma this window as well..
