Sky sports reporting we have bid 20 million for Matic and then Gabrielle Marcotti just re-tweeted this!

Breaking: RTS, Serbian TV, reveals that Nemanja Matic to Chelsea is a done deal. Matic will travel to London on Tuesday to join CFC' squad.
 
Portuguese TV now reporting it stating deal "well below his 50 million euro release clause".

Most, if not all, of the reports are putting the price at around ?20 million.
 
One positive I am looking at that we let him go a few years back is would he be anywhere as good now if we had kept him? In my opinion not and would be either out on loan or already sold/released/reserve football.

Name another player who Chelsea have let go who is playing at a better/similar level or have improved so much he would be in this Chelsea squad? Matic was the only one. We get so much **** for this and its a total myth. Mancienne? Sala? Tore? Stoch? Sinclair? Di Santo? Bridcutt? Sahar? Pidgely? Smith? Mellis? Woods? Gordon? And i could go on and on, how many of them are playing at a standard which would get into our 25 man squad let alone starting 11? Matic was the only one who went away and proved he was good enough for Chelsea.

Although there is no buy back clause i hope/suspect there is a percentage on the next transfer.
 
Seen so many Chelsea saying they don't want Matic just because "we will look stupid bringing a player back we let go for nothing a few years back" lol.
 
I don't see how the club can look stupid to be fair. It was Carlo who sold Matic, and gave Josh McEachran chances in the first team ahead of the Serb.

Because one manager sold Matic and now Mourinho wants him makes the club stupid? I would agree if we had the same manager then and now, but these things are bound to happen with the amount of changes we have.

Barca were stupid for signing Fabregas back if people want to use that logic!
 
Matic is a done deal ;) Congratz, he would fit in nicely in Chelsea team.

I would actually blame Arnesen more than Ancelloti. That guy was a bit of a tool ... Emeleano is so much better which is surprising considering his lack of footballing experience but he has brought in some absolutely great deals such as Courtois and De Bruyne

Matic and Ramires in the pivot with Hazard-Oscar-Willian band would make us extremely difficult to break down and absolutely lethal on the counter (if our striker shows up that is)

Meh I am just excited that we won't be subjected to seeing Super Frankie Lampard as first-choice in the pivot

No, not quite from Serbia, but I have very good info about their media. I cannot possibly tell you is it reliable or not, but they were on spot with the claim United didn't contact Matic either this summer nor January and that Mourinho made him priority target.
