And all the people who have missed the point.............. It's not about the selling of Mata per se, it's about WHO we sell him to.

But you do need the money. It doesn't matter if Roman has virtually unlimited resources, there's FPP checks in place now. If you end up with a loss it will eventually come back to bite you in the ***.

We have to sell to buy its as simple as that. Mata would have played less and less if that's even possible.

This just isn't true. The only reason we would to sell a player to meet FFP is if we are going a really big (30m+) transfer.

Like I said, I won't judge the window until it's done, but if we've really sold Mata to United so we can buy a squad player + a prospect then that's just bad business.

Juan wanted to join Utd and te club respected his decision which is fair enough. Jose put it perfectly in the press conference

I do feel another reason why we suffer is the way we treat young players like kings. The likes of Josh and Chalobah are already making 25k p/w when they first sign a contract. This gives them less incentive to work hard and is probably unhealthy for a guy that age to be having so much money around. Not to mention all the needless hype ... No wonder Josh has regressed so badly. At the rate he is going, he will be very lucky to carve out a career at any EPL club

It's more the fact you haven't actually developed him at all thats hampered him.

This! Happens time and time again with every Chelsea youngster who has any sort of potential. If we had developed Josh better he could of probably been a first team player at the club right now with the potential he was showing at the age of 17/18.

Which is all down to lack of stability at the top ... Different managers all had different ideas about him. Ancelloti saw him as a deep-lying playmaker whereas AVB saw him as a no.10

Couldn't put it better myself

Josh could have played in either role. What he needed was a coherent plan for him and regular time in a similar style. Never got the latter.

Why do you buy when all you can do is recall your 100s of players from loan

They are on loan for a reason right now.

He wanted to stay in England and why be cuntish to a player who has served us well by not letting him do that?

The way Mourinho twists words in the press room is amazing ... He actually made me feel happy for a second that Juan was sold

I've always thought Mourinho had quite a huge potential to become a leader of a cult, actually. Excellent wordplay and manipulation.

Completely agree with you. It all boils down to the fact that we never had a manager who stayed long enough .. Different managers had different development plans for him. Came with different visions of how they wanted the team to play. Didn't feel secure enough in their jobs to give youth a chance

.

We had a loan offer from Atletico Madrid ... We could easily have sent him there mate and reevaluated the situation in the summer. Now we are left with a pile of cash but precious few players to chase all the while giving a major boost to our rivals

And that's a fact is it? Atletico 100% offered to loan him and you know this? Even if the case Chelsea would have wanted a replacement so where would the money for Salah come from? This is best for ALL parties.

Have to say though, Jose has put on a bit of a masterclass here. If we had even mentioned selling Mata in the summer, people would have been up in arms. If we had said that we were selling him to United...

But, having undermined Mata's positive attributes and overplayed his negative, Jose is now free to pass on a player he never really liked for a sizeable fee. ****, he even managed to freeze him out efficiently enough that the player himself asked for a transfer, allowing Jose to play the "oh, I totally valued him (despite systematically playing him out of position) but he wanted to go, so..." The media and a fair number of the fans will now lap that up and see it is an inevitability. People often try and downplay the impact of mind-games and Jose's ability to get into people's heads, but this was masterfully manipulative.

Circle jerk for Mourinho right after people were slating him for selling Mata to United...

Guardiola was right ... When it comes to press conferences, Jose is the ******* chief. No one even comes close

Its beyond hilarious really. The same people who were going berserk on twitter yesterday at Mata's sale are now applauding Jose for selling him. Jose has outdone himself here

I can't help but love to hate the guy, the way he wraps the press and some fans around his little finger is brilliant.

I said this from day one. This was a Jose ego trip/powerplay. I was ignored. Screw you all.
