I still fail to see your point ... What are you trying to say? That Chelsea were boring? I rather they were boring but still in the title race rather than exciting and being out of the top 4 by January

And I am pretty sure that Jose isn't the first manager and won't be the last who one could accuse of being slightly hypocritical in his interviews/comments. Not to mention the game you are referring happpened more than 10 years ago with a completely different set of players ...

In Jose's opinion they were and I didn't say anything about Chelsea's performance.

More than 10 years and different players, so what. Manager is same.

Anyways I take Big Sam's reaction as a compliment ... It's been a long time since someone has been THAT happy at managing to nick a point at the Bridge. Chelsea slowly becoming the footballing machine of his first reign

And I still don't get it. What are you trying to say?

Yes manager is the same ... I can probably find countless examples of Ferguson's hypocrisy if I start linking matches which were 10 years apart. Same can be done for just about any manager. Again what's your point?

That Chelsea were boring as per Jose's comments? I just posted that..

Lol okay ... Firstly you posted a ridiculous picture, that is probably more at home on Redcafe, which served to criticize Jose for being hypocritical by taking his quotes from the post-match interview after the WH game totally out of context. Now you are trying to link his quote after the Arsenal game to this game and for what reason, that you will know better

Bah this game busted my acca really thought it would be sunderland. Just seen the highlights adrian was inspired can't believe lampard didnt bury that at the end oh well. Cannot wait to see city vs chelsea on monday

I'm linking his quote after the Arsenal game, Yes. Because it's something Jose said and just that he was on the receiving end. Not sure what the problem is.

Jose is a hypocrite so all are managers. I don't think anyone deny that and that doesn't mean we shouldn't post pictures comparing his 2 quotes.

Oh btw, in case you missed, Jose said this..

"I cannot be too critical because, if I was in this position, I don't know if I would do the same. But at the same time this is not Premier League. This is not the best league in the world. This is football from the 19th century."

Not sure where "this is not premier league" went when he was part of most boring ever games in the PL history against Arsenal and ManUtd. Would be interesting how he sets up next week against City. Will see where his "this is premier league" stance will go.

I only saw the game on MOTD so I can't say for sure but I would imagine he said what he said to deflect attention from his strikers not scoring. So everybody speaks about this rather than ba, etoo and torres not scoring again.everything he puts in the media is calculated nothing is by chance with him he is the best at using the media IMO.

Also I honestly expect chelsea to setup initially to nullify city they would be stupid not too look at spurs and arsenal getting goals put past them when trying to mix it up. But chelseas 3 behind the striker have lightning pace so city will need to be apert at the back

Except as I already pointed out, you are comparing two games that were played out in vastly different ways with very different teams. Yes Jose said a home team is boring if they don't score goals ... Did he say that Chelsea were exciting after the WH game? No. Did he say Chelsea were not boring after the WH game? No. You are basically trying to prove that 'Chelsea were boring' according to Jose by linking quotes between two very different matches and I honestly fail to see the relevance of your argument at all. But okay you win, Chelsea are boring according to Jose. We are also third and fighting in 3 competitions. Deal with it

And again let me point out, their is a difference between the way Jose sets up his team and the way WH did. Jose will not go to City and tell Chelsea to defend with 9 players in the box and build their counter-attacking plan around hoofing the ball forward and hoping the striker can outmuscle the entire opposing defense, win the ball and somehow score

Plus the whole notion of the '19th century' comment was NOT to criticize West Ham for being defensive. It was instead to criticize them for their dirty tactics, time wasting, ridiculous physicality which the ref couldn't control, time wasting from the first minute and faking injuries

Doubt the media will actually criticize our strikers after Eto'o knocked three past United. It's a bit idiotic of them to do so after that brilliant performance

Check Barcelona and Inter CL semi finals and then post this again with a straight face that Jose will not set up team like big Sam did. Chelsea are far superior to West Ham so they played with a game plan just like how Jose's Inter did against Barca with only 14% possession.

Before you post, I know Inter had 3-1 lead but I don't see any difference in how West Ham played and Inter played.

Because Jose was saying that West Ham CHOSE to play in that fashion, and since Jose has many a time CHOSEN to also play in that fashion, it's a bit rich for him to insult West Ham for doing it. Jesus.

Stop getting your pants in a twist because he made a joke about the special one before you had chance to remove your tongue from his arsehole. Jose only said it anyway because he knew it'd be controversial, and people would make jokes and laugh at him, rather than the performance. A-la Fergie.

I can see what you are saying but everytime Chelsea fail to score it will always get bandied about that Chelsea need a striker or strikers haven't scored or whatever. Until one of them starts scoring consistently it will always happen.

Agreed

Jesus, did you even read his interview. He DID NOT say that West Ham were wrong to play ultra-defensive football. He was criticizing the dirty tactics they used

Many times?! Lol ... Please name me 5 games where Jose has told his his team to defend with 9 players in the box, waste time from the start, fake injuries, push and shove like it's WWE during set-pieces and build the entire attacking game-plan around hoofing the ball to a big striker hoping he can somehow power his way through the entire opposin defense and score. Their is a difference between the counter-attacking football that Jose plays and the stuff that West Ham were playing. Again his comments were NEVER aimed to criticize the fact that they played defensive football but instead it was aimed to criticize the dirty tactics they used

And regarding your second point, there are CFC fans who treat Jose like he is beyond criticism which is understandable after what he has done for the club. Their are also people who will attack him just for the sake of attacking him without any substance (ie. taking his quotes out of context)

Not sure what's there to laugh about at the performance. We tried our best, WH defended really well and had some luck. End of story. 7 wins and 1 draw in 8 games and suddenly we are a laughing stock on the pitch...

Eh not after this game ... It would have been tough even for Messi to score in this game which is a testament to the way West Ham defended

They're not attacking him, they're just having a laugh.

Since you're getting so angry though.

"We didn't want the ball because when Barcelona press and win the ball back, we lose our position – I never want to lose position on the pitch so I didn't want us to have the ball, we gave it away" - Jose on Inter-Barca.

And what does that quote prove? Again you missed the point ... He never criticized WH for playing defensive football. He acknowledges that he would have done the same. He criticizes them for using cheap/dirty tactics that's all

When someone posts about how Jose's team played exact game, you will say it was 10 years ago with other players.

Yes because it is ridiculous to criticize managers for being hypocritical by linking games more than 10 years apart. Every manager is guilty then. With you around, I think managers should stop talking to the press completely ... Only way to be safe from your criticism
