Who'd he sub in for him? Torres? He did and we know how it worked out.

He even clarified how and why Schurrle was selected a striker. He said he knew Schurrle isn't proper striker and isn't going to make runs like a "real striker" but when he was upfront, Chelsea were enjoying decent possession and were in control of the game.

Jose Mourinho talks about the decision to start Andre Schurrle instead of Fernando Torres - We Ain't Got No History

Yeah I don't know why people have a problem with Schurrle starting. Chelsea collapsed when he went off.

The only striker who wouldn't be fazed by such a deficit is playing for the other team. We desperately need another big game performance from Eto'o if we are to harbour any hopes of going through ...

Ibra or Cavani?

His record in CL KOs says he is not the man for the job. Fantastic player but he was among the worst players on the field yesterday. They played well once he was off.

I was referring more the mindset of such a player. Most players would give up at the prospect of trying to overturn such a deficit. Not Zlatan ... Unfortunately he plays for the team that will be enjoying such a deficit

Mourinho has to take a lot of blame. Didn't change his game plan, Schurrle wasn't working, took too long to change it. And then leaving before full time is just bad sportsmanship

Schurrle wasn't working but at least he was effectively giving us an extra body in midfield. I can understand why we risked bringing Torres on, but once again he failed spectacularly and effectively left us playing without a striker but with none of the benefits an extra midfielder provides.

If chelsea lose do any of you think mourinho will be sacked? I'm not saying I think he will but managers have been sacked for worse than finishing third and winning nothing (this is of course providing chelsea do indeed finish third). I was just interested on your guys take on it

(Worse is the wrong word I can't think what I mean because I am having a 1000 brain farts per second because I am at uni having massive problems with SPSS but I am sure you know what I mean)

Simply put, there is not a chance of that happening

Lol I think you're taking Zlatan's media antics a wee bit too seriously. He sure is cocky and talks a lot of ****, but his record in high profile games tells a very different story. Yesterday's was pretty standard performance you can expect from Zlatan when faced with a defense that doesn't **** around. He gives up and dfirts out of game.

Not a chance hence why most of us fans are looking as the positives because we seem to be giving manager time!

Seems like Lukaku will be off in the summer judging by what his agent has said. Once again Chelsea will let go a talented young player and will no doubt bring in another big money flop. ******* sick of it

Mourinho won't be sacked, unless he completely ***** them up and finishes about 6th one season.

Lets be honest though, if his name wasnt Jose ******* Mourinho, he would have been sacked by now.

Agreed. Except his name is Jose Mourinho and everyone knows what a great manager he is. Even if his name wasn't Mourinho, I would argue that as long as definite progress was seen in the evolution of the team as seen this season, the manager wouldn't be sacked. Ambramovich realises by now that he can't just cycle through manager after manager every season ...

I highly doubt Abramovic has learnt that at all.. I'm not taking away anything from Jose's managerial ability, guy is crazy, xD;; but it's also the affinity Chelsea fans have towards Jose that also helps in keeping the job. The protests that were there when di Matteo was sacked and Benitez brought on, will be nothing to what will happen if Jose is sacked.
