Bertrand was good enough to replace ashley for us long term but oh well. Good luck to him.

Cuadrado has now removed the number 74 from his Twitter name and the club have confirmed he will wear 23. Guessing he was told he isn't allowed a number so high by somebody? Don't see why it matters so much to the club tbh.

I blame you! ;)

I've never thought Bertrand was good enough for us, defensively he was all over the place at times, getting caught on the wrong side of his man etc. It was as if after the CL final he thought well I've made it and didn't improve for us. He's having a good season at Southampton and has improved which is good to see, but he's never quite looked like a Chelsea player... Good business from us again I say.

I agree. Getting 10 mil for a player who would have been a 3rd choice LB had he stayed with you. I think he has found his level at Southampton and might be able to push it from there, but I doubt he'll ever make it as a top top player.

This 10 mil and wages saved will again be a addition to summer warchest dedicated for Varane and Pogba. From small streams and so on and those small streams aren't so small for Chelsea. Was bit sceptical at inception of FFP about how Chelsea and City will manage it and Chelsea have showed they can play the system perfectly.

I would say 10m is about right for Bertrand due to his age current form and that will be inc bonuses etc.

Next fixture: Barclays Premier League round 24, Aston Villa 07/02/15 @ 15:00.

Our last result away at Villa 15/03/2014: Aston Villa (Delph) 1-0 Chelsea.

Our biggest ever win away at Villa 17/09/1966: Aston Villa (Tony Hateley, Johnny MacLeod) 2-6 (Johnny Boyle, Bobby Tambling x5) Chelsea.

Our biggest defeat away at Villa 15/04/1952: Aston Villa (Colin Gibson x2, David Walsh, Johnny Dixon, Billy Goffin x3) 7-1 (Jimmy Smith) Chelsea.

Chelsea's away league record this season: P-12, W-6, D-4, L-2, F-27, A-16.
Aston Villa's home league record this season: P-11, W-2, D-5, L-4, F-7, A-13.

Our record away at Aston Villa (all comps): Played-71, Won-17, Drawn-20, Lost-34, For-95, Against-127.

My stats for the game: There has been 4 red cards in the last 2 Premier League meetings between us and Villa at Villa Park.

Jose Mourinho has never beaten Aston Villa at Villa Park in 5 attempts.

Chelsea have lost just 2 of their last 15 Premier League away games (winning 9 and drawing 4). Where as our opponents have managed to win just 1 of their last 9 home league matches (losing and drawing 4). Villa have also gone over 5 hours without a league goal at Villa Park.

My Stat of the Week: Branislav Ivanovic loves Aston Villa, not only did he make his debut against The Villians he has scored 4 goals in his last 5 Premier League starts against them.

Massive day for us today, 7 points clear with the "easier" fixture list i think its as good as done. I think recent form has shown the difference between the two sides. Chelsea even without our and the leagues top scorer and assister still get positive results where as City without Toure and they struggle big time. If i was them i'd give him anything he wants for his next birthday even if its a 500k a week contract after tax!

Meh, he is 32 in May. He will be starting to decline. I won't be surprised if he doesn't get a new contract.
