Yeah we only have a couple of pretty quick players and also we do not have any wingers who usually are the fastest players in most sides. Alot of our players do lack in pace e.g Lampard, Terry, Drogba isnt too fast etc.
It's not all about pace though, just move the ball quicker and counter quicker instead of waiting for the opposition to get into position then attack

Anyone else think we play too slow? Sort of italian slow? I like Carlo and what hes done but i'd like him to up the tempo a little next season

Yer we do, always only one pace. We need someone who will run at players and get the team moving.

Fergie wants Anchelotti to stay:

"The rumour mill is out there that he is going to be leaving, which would shock me, not surprise me," Ferguson told The Times.

"This is an industry that baffles me at times. Here is a man who has won the European Cup twice, he has won Scudettos.

"He did the double in England last year. Why is that being questioned? Why is it becoming an issue? I don't understand it.

"It's sad because he is an outstanding character. He is a great man, full of absolute dignity."

SkySports.

No wonder why SAF gets so much respect from other Managers. Carlo deserves the job, but like i said in other thread I want him to go to Roma and build his legacy. His dream job..

He and Fergie have always got on well which is good to see. Carlo should stay but he wont have a choice and i feel he will be booted out unfortunatly.

Hopefully we start Torres in the remaining two games seeing as the title is now gone, we can start preparing for next season. Think we should also give some of the youngsters a chance, like McEachran.

Couldnt agree more mate.

I thought as the season is nearly done with i would write what i think about the squad player by player and what next for them and the squad.

This seasons comments:
On the whole and with the success of the double last season, this season has not been great but i believe many factors have made this a trophyless season. The sacking of Wilkins, Drogba contracting malaria, Lampard missing 4months with a bad injury and some players becomming to comforable in the squad. All i believe are the reasons for Chelsea's trophyless and lacklusture season but the success of last season is still massivly on the surface of the fans. Although there was no success on the field there has been some good things at Stamford Bridge this season. The imergance of one Josh McEachran, the form of Petr Cech, the settling of Ramires so quickly and the success of the players out on loan are things Chelsea should be happy with.

Player by player comments:
GOALKEEPERS:
Petr Cech - One of his best seasons without a dout, passed 300 Chelsea games this season and no reason why he couldnt double it. KEEP
Ross Turnbull - Not played much but looked poor in pre-season, fits the home grown rule so we put up with him. KEEP
Henrique Hilario - Not played much but loyal to Chelsea as a number 2 and 3 but getting on abit now. SELL
DEFENDERS:
John Terry - A solid season yet again by the skipper and shows no sign of decline. Passed 500 games recently and cant wait until he passes 600. KEEP
Ashley Cole - Consistant season yet again (exception of last Sunday) but i question how long he has left. If the right offer came in i would take it. KEEP UNLESS PRICE IS RIGHT
Branislav Ivanovic - Another strong season but the dilema is where to play him. KEEP
Jose Bosingwa - Not a great season and is not the same player after his long lay off. SELL
Paulo Ferreira - Not played much but you can count on him. A typical squad player that just loves to be part of Chelsea FC. KEEP
David Luiz - Hit the ground running but im not convinced he is best at centre back. I think he is moulded to be a DM, if not we need to educate him on the art of defending because he makes too many mistakes. KEEP
Alex - Played a fair part and i like him alot and think he has done ok this season. Saying that i could see him leaving if Luiz continues at DC or we sign a RB and Ivanovic come back into CB. KEEP UNLESS PRICE IS RIGHT OR TEAM SHUFFLES AROUND
Ryan Bertrand - Looks decent but unfortuanly for him he has Van Aanholt also fighting for this spot. ON THE FENCE
MIDFIELDERS:
Frank Lampard - Hard to comment on his season as he has missed alot of it. Although it seems as if the injury he sustained could lead us to believe we have seen the best of Frank he has still scored 13goals which shouldnt go amiss. Maybe needs less games next season and could become just a squad player. KEEP
Michael Essien - Started the season in goalscoring form but has looked half the player for the majority. We only hope he can find his form because on his day he is sensational. KEEP
Ramires - Started off slowly but from December onwards you could argue he has been our most consistant performer. Settled into English football quicker than most Brazilians do and i think he will be a massive player in the future for Chelsea. KEEP
Jon Obi Mikel - Another one that started the season really well but fell by the wayside as he often does. I like his personality and some of the stuff he does but if the right offer came in i wouldnt be too dissapointed. KEEP UNLESS PRICE IS RIGHT
Florent Malouda - Although he is our top scorer this season he is far to inconsistant and its not good enough. Looking at the whole of his Chelsea carrer i wouldnt be too dissapointed if he left. SELL
Yossi Benayoun - Started the season pretty well but unfortuanly suffered an injury that kept him out for most of the season. His relationship with Torres could be a plus and i think he deserves another year atleast. KEEP
Yuri Zhirkov - Had a few good games this season but again another one that is too inconsistant. Over the whole he is too injury prone and i think we should cash in while we can. SELL
Josh McEachran - Fast tracked at every level this season even with England and with good reason. Needs more games in the first team and with no must win games left this season hopefully he will get some more minutes. KEEP
STRIKERS:
Didier Drogba - A poor season but not his fault, illness drained his energy and belief and made some of us believe he was finished at this level. But in recent months the Drog has started to feel alive again and looks back to his near best which makes me think there is still life left in the old Drog. KEEP
Nicolas Anelka - Was great at the start of the season but has been annonymous for the majority. Although i believe he has been well worth his 15million we paid i think at 32 we should replace him with someone younger and on less wages. SELL
Salomon Kalou - Personly for Sala its been a decent season, he has beat his personal best goal tally again but is that enough. Seems to still be better as an impact player and is needed at times. KEEP
Fernando Torres - Although he only has one goal his workrate has been excellent and that means alot. He also has been getting in the right positions which is encorouging and i believe he needs a full summers rest and then pre season to get used to his new club. KEEP
PLAYERS OUT ON LOAN:
Daniel Sturridge - Every Chelsea fan was saying "give him more starts" so we didnt. But what we did do was send him to Bolton and he has proven to us what we kept saying. Could be a massive player next season for Chelsea and i think he can be a replacement for Anelka
Patrick van Aanholt - Every club he ends up at on loan they seem to love him. Played a few games for the first team this season and looks like a natural replacement for Cole. If Bertrand stays in the first team next season we should send Paddy out for another year KEEP BUT MAYBE SEND ON LOAN
Jeffrey Bruma - Has done ok for in the Championship and looked ok for the first team too when called upon. If all Alex, Luiz, Ivanovi, Terry stay then maybe we should let him have another year on loan. KEEP BUT MAYBE LOAN OUT
Gael Kakuta - Hasent got many games for neighbours Fulham but has scored his first PL goal. Frustrating to watch because you can clearly see has had bags of talent but he struggles to deliver the final product. KEEP BUT SEND BACK OUT ON LOAN
Fabio Borini - Been a revelation at Swansea and could help them get to the PL. I dont think he is good enough for Chelsea's first team but if he helps the Swans reach the PL then i hope he gets a perminant move to them. SELL HOPEFULLY TO SWANSEA IN THE PL
Jack Cork - Been at Burnley 2 years now and i think its a near on dead cert he will join them this summer on a perminant. SELL
Michael Mancienne - Been at Wolves for a while now and personly i dont think he is good enough for Chelsea. I hope this summer Wolves stay up and have the cash to get him perminantly. SELL

Next season:
I believe we need to keep Ancelotti and bring in a number 2. Zola is the name going around and this would be a massive lift for players/fans/officials at Chelsea. If Ancelotti is not the manager next season then these are the men i would like to see as Chelsea manger.
Andre Villas Boas - Possible
Guus Hiddink - Possible
Jose Mourinho - Unlikely

I also believe we need to sign 2-3 players this summer and here is a list of a few players i believe we need and the positions.
RIGHTBACKS:
Gregory van der Wiel - Possible
Phillip Lahm - Unlikely
RIGHT MID/WINGER:
Demba Ba - Possible, especially if West Ham get relegated
Matt Jarvis - Unlikely
AM/PLAYMAKER:
Kaka - Possible
Neymar - Possible
Gotze - Unlikely

So that comes to the end of my season review and what i hope to see next season. I welcome comments of any kind if people can be bothered to read my take.

3 year contract in 2009, you're right. And I like him, I'd like to see him here for a cheap ish price.

Apparently Kaka's mum has said on twitter than her son will be in London next season. She deleted the tweet soon after but if there is any truth about it then surely there is only one place for him. If this is true then it also could mean Ancelotti could be staying next season as he was the one who bought Kaka to Europe and a manager who he played his best football under. i dont know what to make about this deal, i could see him playing behind Torres and he could work but i have my douts about his recent injury record.

I just think Chelsea needs youth. Pretty sure they are the oldest top club in the world at the moment and their most important players through many years (Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Malouda, Essien etc) are not getting any younger.

Its not as bad as people think. The youth players we have were nearly at first team level at the start of this season but not quite so we sent them out on loan to gain first team expirience so they will might be ready next season. Im talking about the likes of Bruma, Van Aanholt, Kakuta, Sturridge etc and lets not forget we have McEachran too. Terry has years left without a dout and Essien is only 28.

As soon as i posted this i have found out abit more from "my source". Apparently the Kaka deal was done in March and Madrid based paper Marca have published this today. Now according to my source he has confirmed that he is 100% sure that Chelsea cheif exec Ron Gourlay was in Madrid in March so maybe there is some truth about this story.

Jacko, small correction. Leonardo was the reason why Kaka signed for Milan if I'm not wrong.

Yeah he will be an excellent signing if he recovers completely and back to his best..

Ok fair enough lol you know what i mean.

So it looks like were getting Kaka (i know its not defo). I think its great and is exactly what we need in a creative player just hope he doesn't get injured as much as he has at Madrid. Will be sad to see Drogs go if this deal happens

What do you think the team will be?

If i was in charge this is what it would be.

Cech
V D Wiel - Brana/Alex - Terry - Cole
Luiz
Ramires - Essien
Kaka
Torres - Sturridge

Nah both Stoke and Fulham have an average age above Chelsea, and I'm sure there's loads more that are older than them, such as Roma who nearly have an average age of 30.

Me and my mate were talking about Chelsea maybe playing Luiz in cdm yesterday and we both believe he can do a good job there and it will also give Brana the chance to play in his original position of cb. Also I see you have left Lampard out of that line up and I agree Chelsea need to have a strongest line up that doesnt feature him. He is a great player but next season he will be approaching 34 and we cant rely on him along with Drogba, Terry etc forever.
