Juan Mata will have his farewell press conference at 5 o'clock - VALENCIA C.F.I'd imagine he's been sorting out some stuff in Spain today, so I think he'll fly back tonight and finalise the deal tomorrow

WOW.. top player still regret not seeing madrid tie him down... has the technical ability to work wonders for chelsea... just wonder if AVB will try convert him to a more central Nasri type player ... cause to be frank thats what Chelsea need, so in my honest opinion i would have gone for modric or moutinho rather

He's still going for Modric and failing that he'll most likely go for Moutinho.

Yea still pending.. but I know AVB thinks matter as a replacement for kalou, in this way he can push Mata deeper and allow him to play 2 more out and out strikers other than his rather flat 4-3-3 system he has been utilising to null effect

Haha agreed... Lampard falling off the cliff badly these days.. as is Terry. I know i will get slated for saying this in a chelsea thread and i hope i'm wrong as i'm an avid Jose fan and thus by default like Jose Version 2.0 but I think AVB has to much of a challenge here to compete to to seriously for title just yet
I'd be happy with 4th this season. (Genuinely)
Building for the future, titles/trophies aren't important to me.
Hanging on to AVB/Youngsters and rebuilding is the key thing I want to see next summer, not an open top bus.

Nice to hear a realistic fan... and with AVB and this group coming through you guys really do have a shot at establishing yourself as a super power for many years... just fear your chairman falls into the Madrid trap of hiring and firing to quickly
Terry is still playing well, may not play 50 games, but he still has it. Same cant be said of Lampard though

Ok I agree... Terry has the ability still but I certainly wouldn't expose him to Rooney or the United attack... Chelsea should have strengthened the CB position..well i think some reason i've gone blank on there summer signings
Lampard's just not what Chelsea can afford to carry at the minute.
No place for dead wood at the moment, Lampard relied on drive/stamina to get into the spaces from deep and slot home a goal or score. Not what Andre needs, we need a ball player who is technically sound and can find Torres with passes.
I will say one thing, knowing that we have been in for Modric/Pastore/Sanchez/Ganso/Neymar...
The intent to rebuild all positions is clearly there, that's a really promising sign looking forward.

Terry is still one of the best CBs in the world. Lampard hasn't lost it as such, more losing it. I think he just needs to find his role in the club and he may have played poor in the first two games, but pre-season he was good, might just be a loss of form hopefully he will regain it and start playing better. Obviously he won't play like two years ago, but still.

It is a promising sign just worried about you current predicament you have Lampard and Yossi as the creative force... not up to the required status.. I agree you guys need time but AVB also needs some sort of success not for himself or fans but without he could be out before he even has chance to build
Strengthen CB position?!?!:O No need to "strengthen"...David Luiz - 23M in Jan, Iva, Terry, Alex likely to go, but he will be replaced.
