Is it me or are we signing any Liverpool player who scores against us?
First torres (2-0 Anfield)
Now Meireles (0-1 Bridge)
I think Chelsea are just making sure we don't lose to Liverpool.

If thats the case then i ******* hope Carragher dosen't score against us!!!!!

Suspect there is one more signing to come.

Meirelese is not Modric but for the price of him I'm very happy, really rate him.

Him + Aquilani were very under rated at Liverpool, I would have preferred Alberto but Raul is a brilliant signing. Just what the midfield needs.

Only awkward thing is Meireles was the guy AVB sold to bring in Moutinho, could be awkward at first I suppose.

Still think there is one more signing to come, watch this space.

Arsenal has confirmed that they have agreed to sign Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta from Everton for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old arrives at Emirates Stadium on a four-year deal with a wealth of Barclays Premier League experience, having been with the Merseyside outfit since 2005. After starting his career as a trainee with FC Barcelona, Arteta was loaned to Paris Saint-Germain before making his name in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers, where he was a member of the domestic treble winning side of 2002-3.

A year long spell in Spain with Real Sociedad followed before he teamed up with David Moyes’ side, initially on loan, in 2004-5. The Spaniard went on to score 28 goals in 174 Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

Arteta has represented Spain at Under-21 level, but has not played for the senior national team.

The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes.

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mikel every success at the Club.

I got all hopeful for a minute... ;)

Dont mean to be rude but why would we care?

I think he's referring to John Obi Mikel (got his hopes up that they had signed him because it said 'Mikel'), which is stupid because he's a very good player. That's what I think he meant anyway.

Slightly lost by people's opinion's on Chelsea's 'lack of' creativity in the squad. Do you not realise Frank Lampard is behind only Ryan Giggs in the PL's assist chart in total since the new league was formed. He's 10-15 behind Giggs and has played at least 6 seasons less than the 'legend'.

Watch numerous people disagree, however Lampard is quite clearly every football fan's guilty pleasure considering he's the most popular midfielder in most Fantasy Football's.

thats because he scores goals. Lampard doesnt dictate play, which is why numerous people will disagree with you.

Very good is stretching it a bit. He's a solid squad player but he's never come close to realising the potential we all thought he had when we hijacked him from United. Don't get me wrong, he's a great lad, a fairly solid (if uneventful) performer and he has quite a few years left to flourish, but he's simply "quite good" atm.

Woah, woah, woah. We're not saying he can't get assists, it's just too predictable; the whole squad not just him. He's got creativity imo, just not the vision or flair of a playmaker. And like Mike said; he doesn't dictate play.

Yeah Lampard was brilliant before he got the injury last season and before he turned 33.

Not what he was, lost his drive/eye for a pass.

If you think he's looked creative in the first 3 games then by god you were watching a different game to me.

Fantasy football wise that's because he's normally good for 20 goals a season from midfield rather than being good for 20 assists.

Lampard's not a playmaker he's a unique goal scoring midfielder who doesn't dictate tempo's in games he's just deadly around the opposition box.

You take Frank Lampard in the first/second third of the pitch and he's been completely useless. The only attribute that he's kept is getting on the ball around the box and firing shots in, he's not a playmaker.

I don't think anyone is doubting what Lampard offers to the team. Statistically yes he has a lot of assists, but he isnt the 'answer' to the creativity problem. The midfield at the moment is too robotic, continually passing sideways across the pitch, back and forth with no cutting edge. A player like Modric could've provided that bit of spark in the middle which we don't have. We can't rely on Lampard for ever.

Regarding Meireles, decent signing but he isn't a player who offer us more than we currently have. One thing is for sure, we are going to have to rely on Mata a lot this season in an attacking sense.

Oh please! I'm not going through this again. I've had this discussion many a time, and I won't be having it again now.

Yes, he scores goals, but that's irrelevant to the amount of assists he gets?
Why does Lampard get assists?

Who else has won Chelsea titles?

There's never been another central playmaker, Mourinho built his team around Lamps/Drogba/Terry.

Let's not forget half his goals lately are penalties and half of his assists are simply because he's the person every Chelsea player look to to create.

Lampard-Torres linkup....Non existent. Because he's not a playmaker he's a goal scoring midfielder who's good at driving into space and attacking but not much else in any other part of the pitch.

Gigi Salmon being cryptic on Chelsea TV...

She could be doing what Sky Sports did earlier with a 'news flash' about Sneijder, teased it and then drop it.

Hopefully she's right, expect Bertrand to get a loan move (Possibly to Swansea).

Need to stay hopeful that a signing is in the works still, until tomorrow night anything is still possible.

You've got yourself a good player in Mereiles, just don't expect any crunching tackles from him or expect him to win many 50/50's.

it seems Liverpool & Chelsea enjoy doing business with each other on deadline day. Just a shame we couldn't get Sturridge as part of the deal ;)

I'm waiting for the Benayoun comments from AFC fans/pundits...

I remember last season with Joe Cole going to Liverpool and I told anyone that would listen that he's useless and a waste of space. No one believed me and the media continued to hype the 'amazing 90k a week freebie' as being the best thing since sliced bread.

Benayoun is good but not a creative super power, got good energy in the way he attacks but he's not what he was 3 years ago.

He's a good signing (Better than Joe Cole) but not amazing.

Not sure what I think about Benayoun.. I'll take him! I suppose.
