Yet again the media make it out to be much more than it is. So he went to get changed 5mins before time means he's stormed off? Wow!

I'm glad AVB has the balls to drop him because he's not what he used to be, time to take a back seat and play when needed Frank.

It's not the craziest red card of Fernando's career believe it or not,

This one takes the biscuit; the barrel; the kitchen; and the sink.

It's a shame he got sent off but it really was a forwards tackle and he slid in front of the ball's path rather than into the man so it wasn't completely reckless. 3 match ban will take him out until October 29th vs Arsenal, that's over a month... I just hope Del Bosque brings him back into the NT setup and AVB plays him in the CL.

Hopefully he does play vs Valencia midweek rather than Drogba coming in...

Ramires' critics appear to have been awfully quiet this weekend as well, the guy does a job and is not as bad technically as people make out (Baring in mind he put Torres through for his 'miss' at Old Trafford last week). There's a reason he gets in the Brazilian NT, he has a unique ability.

Just watched the first 45mins of the game again and watching the whole incident via the Torres redcard you see why he did it. MOTD didnt highlight the whole incident and it was Torres who gave the ball away and he chased back so quickly to win that ball back because he lost it hence the lunge. He is a tryer and that is all we ask. ChelseaTV also had an interview with him after the game and he revieled he walks to home games because he loves to get caught up in the match atmosphere talking to fans along the way. I always backed the man but my opinion of him is getting higher NANDO TORRES CHELSEAS NUMBER 9!!!!

On the subject of Barkley, if we do manage to get him we will have quite a midfield in another few years...

Romeu, Ramires, Mikel, McEachran, Piazon and Barkley(6)

Is a fans favourite already, wouldnt be surprised if he is the PL's top assister this season.

Is it just me or is this camera man ****? Half of the time the player who has been on the ball hasn't even been on the screen!

Why fans should get off Frank's back and enjoy watching one of England's finest mids

Thought you Chelsea fans would like this:
What has Frank Lampard ever done for English football?

I mean apart from being the highest-scoring midfielder in Chelsea's history?

And apart from appearing in a Premier League record 164 consecutive games for his club?

And apart from being England's top scorer in the World Cup 2006 qualifying campaign?

And apart from scoring three goals in four games at Euro 2004 and being top scorer again? From midfield.

And apart from being the highest goalscoring midfielder in Premier League history?

And apart from being voted the second best player in the world in 2005?

And apart from being a fine, articulate ambassador for his club and his country?

So why is it that so many people seem so keen to hurry him off the stage?

I don't get it. I understand that he is 33 and that he can no longer expect to be an automatic starter in the England side.

I also understand that Chelsea are evolving under Andre Villas-Boas and that the arrivals of Juan Mata and Raul Meireles have put pressure on Lampard at club level, too.

What I don't understand is the lack of warmth towards Lampard and the lack of respect for what he has achieved for both club and country.

If this was the US, for instance, Lampard's record for consecutive appearances alone would be enough to guarantee him favoured status.

Here, it's an afterthought.

Instead, our instinct seems to be to deride players as they enter the autumn of their careers rather than salute them.

Many mock their concessions to age instead of recognising the contribution they have made and acknowledging the useful role they still have to play.

Some of it is explained by the disillusionment many fans feel over what they see as the under-achievements of Lampard and the rest of the Golden Generation.

And some of it is explained by the continuing disconnect between the public and modern footballers and the idea that they have become remote, aloof figures separated from normal people by the wages they earn.

It was that kind of resentment that Shadow Culture Secretary Ivan Lewis tried to tap into so clumsily yesterday when he criticised players' salaries.

Sure, players like Lampard earn a lot of money but they get the market rate. A multi-billion pound industry rests on their shoulders and they get their share. If football crashes, so will their salaries. Instead of clapping in glee at the thought of Lampard's departure from the top echelons of the game, we should be hoping it is delayed for as long as possible.

We should certainly hope that Lampard remains part of Fabio Capello's England squad and plays a significant role in next year's European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

It would be absurd to discard a man with Lampard's wealth of experience at exactly the time when members of the new breed like Jack Wilshere, Tom Cleverley and Phil Jones could most benefit from it.

That experience, that pedigree, that history of excellence and achievement, should be valued and rewarded with thanks, not sneers.

Lampard is one of the best English players of the last 20 years. Let's enjoy watching him while we still can.

I totally forgot about champions league :O -.-

If it wasn't for Valencia's goalie, Torres would have got a couple. Torres is very, very unlucky at the moment in second half. Torres can't be faulted at the moment. Goalie just made outstanding saves

Edit-nice goal by Lampard

1-1 Soldado pen after horrible error by Kalou.
