Chelsea are set to announce a naming rights sponsor for their Stamford Bridge stadium in the new year.
This follows the club's failed attempt to buy back the land on which the ground is built, which could have facilitated a move to a new venue.

Chief executive Ron Gourlay said: "We have outgrown our stadium.
"We hope to make an announcement on naming rights in the next six to eight months. It would make a big step as we have to drive up the revenues."

Gourlay first revealed plans to sell the naming rights to the ground in 2009, stipulating that Stamford Bridge should remain in the new title and that a lease would be for between seven and 10 years.
Stamford Bridge currently holds 42,449 fans which drops to 38,000 on Champions League nights because of Uefa restrictions.

The quest to buy back the land in the Fulham Road on which Stamford Bridge is situated was rejected by shareholders in the Chelsea Pitch Owners company, who voted only 61.5% in favour of the proposal when 75% was required.

Gourlay said no decision had yet been made as to whether a new vote will be called at next month's Annual General Meeting but insisted: "We need a 60-65,000 stadium. We have the eighth biggest stadium in England and the 61st biggest in Europe.

"But when you look at the activity of stadiums planned for next few years, we will fall out of the top 75 which can only be restrictive to the football club. We have corporate hospitality that is second to none and 30,000 season ticket holders.
"In the meantime we continue on our conversations to see if there is any way at all to extend Stamford Bridge."

Samsung Arena? ;)
BBC Sport - Chelsea set to announce Stamford Bridge stadium sponsor

They can call it the "Durex safe *** Stadium" for all i care just aslong as we get the dosh. At the end of the day it will only be media folk who will call it the new name, for the supporters it will always be Stamford Bridge.

Little comparison Sky made today with Ancelotti's and AVB's first 17 games in charge of Chelsea. I added the teams actually played to see if the level of opponents can be judged fairly together.

Ancelotti's game were against Hull, Sunderland, Fulham, Burnley, Stoke, Porto, Spurs, QPR, Wigan, APOEL, Liverpool, Villa, At Madrid x2, Blackburn and Bolton x2.
Won - 14
Drawn - 1
Lost - 2
For - 41
Against - 10

AVB's game were against Stoke, WBA, Norwich, Sunderland, Leverkusen, Man Utd, Fulham, Swansea, Valencia, Bolton, Everton x2, Genk x2, QPR, Arsenal and Blackburn.
Won - 10
Drawn - 4
Lost - 3
For - 35
Against - 18

Now for me without actually seeing the teams we played this stat is hugely un-reliable, not only have to played tougher opponents this season comparred to Carlo's first 17 games we are going through a changing of the guard period.

lol I actually have a decent chance of getting a tweet back from him since he just started... would be the first time a footballer has tweeted me back anyways

In the most recently named England squads (16-21), #CFC are represented by 18 players, a tally no other club can match.

Lampard has actually created more chances per game than Mata, just, and is in the top 5 chance creators per game in Europe at the moment...

Then again, that statistic does place Mark Gower top of the list so perhaps is a little misleading.

As for naming rights, if you want Chelsea to be FFP compliant in the next few years then all you can do is bite your tongue. If that brings in 12-15 million per year that's the wages of a couple of big names paid for, just be glad it's not 'Evraz stadium' or something Russian related.

Roman's been speaking, he's actually declared how rich he is and that he is running for re election in the Russian Parliament.

How much is he worth? 17.78 Billion Pounds.

''Russia’s election laws require all candidates standing for election to declare their assets before they run for office. According to the declaration, Roman Abramovich is currently worth US$17.78 billion, owns sixteen homes, seven cars, six companies, has twenty-two bank accounts''

Chelsea FC in it's most recent valuation is valued at £402 Million, that's without stadium rights...

Strange thing is in 1999 when he ran for office he declared £254,865 to be his total wealth, how times have changed. Roman also has 22 bank accounts which span over 16 countries, so no one is entirely sure how rich he is despite his words.

Also a CFC statement last night about an investigation launched against fans who were found to be using vile chants away at Genk - The Press Association: Chelsea continue investigation

For those of you who don't know... Chelsea have drawn Doncaster Rovers in the FA Youth Cup Third Round, I generally look forward to the Youth Cup because we have been having great runs in the tournament the past 3 years and this year we have more cause for optimism that we can actually win this thing as our side will likely brimming with quality talent such as Islam Feruz, Lucas Piazon, Nathaniel Chalobah, Alex Kiwomya, Todd Kane, Nathan Ake , Liam Baker and Jamal Blackman

Also these are two very interesting youngsters currently on our books who have been showing a lot of promise... one of them Betrand Traore who has made his senior debut for Burkina Faso at the age of 16 which is a immense achievement and Jon Muleba a schoolboy right-back who is touted by Adi Viveash as a quality player

Traore should defo be playing in the FA Youth Cup, I am not too sure on Muleba because he is young and we have Todd Kane but lets see

All i can say to the media and opponent fans is keep slagging and writting off Lampard because England and Chelsea are reeping the benefits.

Also i got my first tweet back from a Chelsea player today!!!!! The young lad we signed this season Nathan Ake tweeted me back and im very happy!!!!

Athletic Bilbao and Spain striker Fernando Llorente is being watched by Chelsea as they prepare for the possible loss of both Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in January.

Llorente would be a upgrade on Drogba if one looks at current performances... while Drogba is one of the most lethal strikers in the world when on form, his performances have been degrading and he hardly fits into our tactics

I don't think Athletic would let him go, honestly. Not many good strikers they could get to replace him, and considering their recent form they're strong candidates for Europe.

Are we at the point where the Daily Mail/Metro is the only way some people can get their transfer rumour fix?

Athletic would let him go, as they told Spurs, for his £32 million pounds release clause. He would probably be interested, where the story falls down is the idea that AVB and Chelsea are going to pay that much money for a backup to Torres especially when they paid close to 20 million for Lukaku who is younger than Llorente. Also factor in the playing style, Bilbao in the past few years have played a very 'Stoke-esque' direct style and Llorente was their main man and he got crosses/balls to feet/everything. The reason he isn't scoring as many now under El Loco is because he isn't the focus of the system anymore and Muniain playing in a free role off of him gets most of the ball.

If you think AVB is planning on going 4-3-3 cross bombardment as a tactic, then the story is viable.

It's at a point where I have to explain why a Metro story is false?

Also given the fact that 12 days ago Chelsea and Drogba opened talks over a new contract, I can't see Drogba being pushed out in January no matter what we think. Anelka's contract is up at the end of the season but how you get to Llorente from Anelka is beyond me.

Lower your expectations to Vitor Gomes, De Bruyne and Ocampos.

And on the Lampard point, he has very recently said - and I quote - ''Leaving Chelsea? If I will, it will only be to retire.'' Another dead story...

On Ocampos - The River coach came out and said ''Europe? If they want him now they will have to pay what he is worth'' River value him around £15 million. But the drawback of waiting until the summer for European clubs is the likelihood is his price will rocket to 25+ if river get promoted straight away.

It will either turn out like that (Lamela for example) or be a Funes Mori case where European clubs hold off when he is in form and his value drops so low no one will take him for £4 million. Real/Chelsea/Barcelona/Inter scouts have watched Ocampos play, he's definitely got the potential to be a great player not sure about the Ronaldo comparison but his natural technique and vision is world class.

He may no longer be the focal point but he's still a key player under Bielsa. And paying up his release clause isn't 'letting him go' either - they don't have much of a choice if that's the case, do they? :P

On Ocampos - he's a bit selfish and doesn't always pass the ball when he should, and he often tries a dribble too many. He's got lots of potential but he's lacking in maturity. AFAIK he's got a €15m release clause in his contract, so he wouldn't be that expensive, even if River get promoted they can't get any more than that. I don't think he's ready for the big jump to Europe yet.

Spanish release clauses are a bit different, the club have the option to sell when it's met not necessarily an automatic trigger that clubs in Portugal/England/Italy have. Basically when that clause is met two things happen 1) The club accept or 2) the club sit down with the player and his agent and renegotiate terms of his contract.

On the Ocampos release clause, I'm pretty sure river would renegotiate that by next summer especially if they do get promoted. And the description of him, sounds a lot like a young Ronaldo to me...

Think Europe needs to let him stay at River for a couple of years though, the downside being that those 2 years of development in Argentina will probably mean when he does come over his physical build will need to be worked up and taken off of that famous red meat diet.
