I expected better from you than to bite that easily.

Honestly, I don't know how any non-Chelsea fan can resist the temptation to troll around after every miss.

My mistake, i assumed you were mature enough to partake in discussion. If you are just trolling, leave before you get infracted

Makes an idiotic comment. Says they're trolling when proven wrong.

Lol.

And I doubt it very much, but he would be a good signing, very good in fact, and if we were to get him we would pretty much have to play 4-2-3-1 because he's much better in an advanced midfield role.

Rumours that we have had a £22 million bid accepted for Eriksen - I won't believe it until there's actual confirmation, but he would be a great signing, so skillful, and his dribbling is fantastic. It's from a Dutch newspaper apparently, so it could be the Dutch equivalent of Daily Fail (who incidentally posted this - Manchester City and Chelsea in chase for Ajax £30m-rated midfielder Christian Eriksen | Mail Online) for all we know.

wow ... he would be a top quality signing, its still a rebuilding process at Chelsea but eventually AVB will have 2 get rid of all the deadwood in the squad and push through young players like McEachran and Piazon, I am not going to criticise AVB for having faith in every member of his squad but obviously the squad needs improving... hopefully we get either of Ganso or Eriksen in January

Product of years of trigger happy firings from Roman. Hopefully for you AVB gets the time he needs and deserves.

Quality, but very expensive signing... Not sure I'd fork out £22m for Eriksen tbh. He's a good player, but he's not been tested in any of the top (or even in any really competitive) leagues, only just broken into the Denmark squad, etc.

If I were AvB, I'd wait until next summer - see what the interest in him is like and then go for him or Ganso (who would be even more expensive). You could always shift Mata into the middle and sign a R/LWer. Although again, big difference between Ganso and Eriksen IMO - the former is much better IMO (although you could argue he has even less top-level experience). If you're going to spend big, you may as well spend big properly and get Ganso.

Isn't Piazon only 17 by the way? Bit much to say AVB needs to "push [him] through".

Quote from the excellent Tim Vickery:

"For those who star for their country at Under-17 level, there is the added strain of going through this process in public. Some careers can be pushed too fast.

An obvious example is Lulinha, a Brazilian attacking midfielder who gave a masterclass in finishing and broke all scoring records in the 2007 South American Under-17 Championship. He was quickly thrown into the Corinthians first team at a time when the Sao Paulo giants were in crisis, fighting against relegation. He was unsurprisingly unprepared and unable to be the team's saviour. He has yet to recover."

Hopefully he does, he is a good manager we all know that and if Roman ever wants us to turn into a major European Force along the levels of Real Madrid, Manchester United etc. then he has to keep faith with AVB for at least 3 years if not more even if we dont win any major trophy in the process, I rather we concentrate now on improving our academy and youth talent pool so that when the likes of Terry, Lampard retire we have players who can step in without hesitation

Ganso will be a tad expensive a nearly 40m and Brazilian Players historically have never been successfull in the Premiereship although that is no reason why Ganso should not do well... only limiting factor is that the huge amount of pressure that will come with his price tag... good article by Tom Vickery, when I said AVB should push him through i really meant that if he impresses in training then he should be given minutes in the Carling Cup etc.

Obviously a lot of hings can happen such as injuries, suspension, personal problems etc. that can derail his progress, only time will tell but he has the talent for sure

It's not just replacing those who are ageing now, it's keeping the process going. Managers who don't have confidence in keeping their jobs for a long period are more likely to stick with the senior players to keep their jobs, rather than gamble with youth. Wenger and Ferguson are as safe as they could be with their jobs, and are much more prone to placing their faith in young players, which is what has allowed them to become such successful managers.

exactly... Roman needs to reassure AVB that whatever happens he will still remain manager for the forseeable future.. obviously if something like us dropping out of the top 4 happens then AVB will have to go as whatever said and done, we do have a squad well capable of comfortably securing a top 4 spot, I think that their is a long-term plan in place at Chelsa and that was partly the reason why we went for a relatively young manager in AVB rather than someone like Hiddink who in all respects, was better placed to take the hot seat compared to AVB

Some people argue that we went for AVB because we lost out on Hiddink but I think that to secure Hiddink we would have had to pay lesser compensation compared to what we had to pay to get AVB.... time will tell I guess but we are to ever evolve into a big club then we have to keep faith in one man and that man should be AVB because he is competent and I suspect he is someone who knows what he is doing

I would say at the moment Eriksen is better suited for the league than Ganso, simple fact is mobility. Ganso is so immobile he can be marked out of the game. That is one part of the game I always doubted him. Apart from that he is near complete package. On the other hand Eriksen is mobile, superb passing and dribbling ability, only draw back is he is not physically strong but that has not stopped many talented light weight players to take this league by storm.

Saying that I dont think Eriksen would join Chelsea. Chelsea rejected him few years back and his dad went ballistic about Chelsea and how they wont sign for Chelsea and all.

Whatever happens AVB needs 4-5 years at the club, if you want to build a legacy at the club. This is why would take Moyes over Mourinho any day

I do remember a Hiddink interview way back in July of this year where he says that he has been telling Roman and the Board of the need for stability at the club and according to him it looks like they have finally understood him.. mind you this was after AVB was appointed so lets hope for the best

Its the only proper way forward

I remember that, but AC and Barca also rejected him. Yet Barca is his number one choice. I believe he said something like "the only team I will leave Ajax for is Barcelona". I think his Dad just did that as an instant reaction, and it Eriksen will be the one who decided where he plays however big of a part his Dad plays in his life. I don't think that will affect whether he goes to Chelsea or not, but I don't think we will sign him, but who knows?!

Juan Mata said the players that have surprised him the most since his move are McEachran and Ashley Young:

I haven't heard about Barca but after reading what his dad said, I thought chances are very slim. He might end up signing for Chelsea too as nothing is guaranteed in modern day game.

If I had to choose one, I would have signed Eriksen.

If he gets that excited about playing with us, I can only imagine how stoked he'll be to watch Bébé...

Chelsea set to announce Stamford Bridge stadium sponsor

Chelsea are set to announce a naming rights sponsor for their Stamford Bridge stadium in the new year.
This follows the club's failed attempt to buy back the land on which the ground is built, which could have facilitated a move to a new venue.

Chief executive Ron Gourlay said: "We have outgrown our stadium.
"We hope to make an announcement on naming rights in the next six to eight months. It would make a big step as we have to drive up the revenues."

Gourlay first revealed plans to sell the naming rights to the ground in 2009, stipulating that Stamford Bridge should remain in the new title and that a lease would be for between seven and 10 years.
Stamford Bridge currently holds 42,449 fans which drops to 38,000 on Champions League nights because of Uefa restrictions.

The quest to buy back the land in the Fulham Road on which Stamford Bridge is situated was rejected by shareholders in the Chelsea Pitch Owners company, who voted only 61.5% in favour of the proposal when 75% was required.

Gourlay said no decision had yet been made as to whether a new vote will be called at next month's Annual General Meeting but insisted: "We need a 60-65,000 stadium. We have the eighth biggest stadium in England and the 61st biggest in Europe.

"But when you look at the activity of stadiums planned for next few years, we will fall out of the top 75 which can only be restrictive to the football club. We have corporate hospitality that is second to none and 30,000 season ticket holders.
"In the meantime we continue on our conversations to see if there is any way at all to extend Stamford Bridge."
