Like? Whom did you bring from academy to first team? You have sold few potentially good players.

Okay, we sold them but they were ours. And now fresh news: OUR Mancienne is having a medical at Hamburg. In this case it doesnt matter how many we promoted to first team, because you promote only the best of them. Its too hard to get there among players like Torres Lampard Terry Cole Drogba Essien etc, but I can tell that Josh will be the next!

Real Madrid academy will pwn yours if you compare players playing in top flight. They have promoted so many good players but their managers are not given time to promote them to their own team. Hence they are sold for healthy profit..

We have some decent players comming through. I assume you mean Borini and Mancienne when you say we have sold/selling a few and if you are then they are not good enough for Chelsea's first team including Sinclair. When i talk about our youngsters i mean people like Van Aanholt, Bruma, Kakuta and Sturridge etc.

Not really, especially if Tevez leaves. You have to remember City can pay any wages and are in the Champions League next season.

If Tevez goes, they are certain to line him up as a replacement

Yes but you haven't promoted any player for first team other than few CC games which even Madrid have done.

This was the quote,
how many players has he grown?
Same question, how many have Chelsea grown?

Well obviously you have Terry but you also have McEachran. Teams get these players when they are really young now days so they do alot of the growing themselfs. Like Bruma, he joined Chelsea when he was 15 so Chelsea done alot of work with him and the teenage years is the most difficault and its where teams lose most of their players.

Same can be said about Madrid and the players they have grown?

Thats was my point..

not yet I don't think.

TBH I have to agree with sunlivk7. I think our current youngsters are quality, but he's talking about older players who have turned in to top players.

They've had:

Casillas
Raul
Guti
Jurado
Mata
Soldado
Arbeloa
Valero
Raul Bravo - Not that good but has played at top level
And more

We've had:

Terry
Le Saux
Morris - was quality, but went downhill after Chelsea
Harley - downhill after Chelsea
Cole (lol)
Dalla Bona
Huth
Forssell

There's quite a difference in quality TBH I'd say we had Terry and Le Saux who were really good. Morris and Dalla Bona (and maybe Harley) should have been a lot better because they were good players. A few of the players have gone on to good clubs, but compare them to some of Real's; there's a big difference.

For anyone who hasn't seen yet, this is a video of Lucas Piazon at the U-17 South American Championship. Obviously it just shows his best bits so we can't make a fair judgement of him yet. Description also outlines some of his weaknesses. Early signs look promising.

Yeah I saw that Gilvorak had posted that. Seemed to play decent going off those clips, maybe should have done better a few times, but he's only 17 so it's to be expected.

I always liked Drogba and thought it would be incredibly sad if he was sold off, he always scores goals for us and despite malaria he still scored a healty 13 goals for us this season which is very impressive indeed, add the fact that in some of his appearances he was played out wide due to Torres meaning he was not effective at all, Drogba is one of the best strikers in the world, nobody can doubt that and I am happy he is choosing to finish his career with us, hopefully we can give him a CL medal 2

I agree Drogba is quality, but Torres and Drogba won't work. I'm so tired of watch Chelsea matches and seeing strikers on the wings. It's not effective, as the scoring stats of these players prove, Drogba hasn't got the legs to be getting down a flank. If we are going to make Torres the world class player he was at Liverpool, then we need pace on the wings and good dribblers that aren't scared to run with the ball, able to do the unpredictable, I.e Robben and Duff days. Then we need to go out and get a midfielder that has gone an eye for the killer ball, to use Torres's ability and movement off the ball.

Chelsea are to predictable and to slow on the ball. When we ain't got the ball were lazy in winning it back. You look at man u, as soon as they lose the ball they are closing down angles all over the pitch. If Chelsea are to stick with our current formation the 4-3-3 which I think we should, then we have to midfield engines in Essien and Ramiers. Them two run all day, we need to use that energy, then we need our passer in front of them two. And this can't be lampard, I love the guy and every thing he has done for the club, but as a midfield playmaker, I don't think that's his best role. He best at getting on the end of crosses and pull backs in the box. I'd love to see us go get modric and play him behind Torres he's quick technically good and a great passer of the ball.

Obviously Neymar would be great for Chelsea and maybe a player like Navas or Lennon down the right wing, there's a strong need for a quick winger in that Chelsea team, I don't wanna see Ramiers playing down the right next season. We've all seen how good his surging pacey runs are through the centre of the pitch.

So Drogba should have gone, cause for as long as we have him the style of football we play won't change. Drogba don't sit on the shoulder and run onto balls. The long ball pumped to him see the best days of Drogba and it's time for a change it's not Roman wants to watch, he wants sexy football one two's some pace and flair about the game.

We got a new manager coming in so we might revert to a new formation and style, Drogba in my opinion will be on the bench mostly for the greater part of the next season and used as an impact sub or maybe our new manager may find a way to make them work together, either way I am happy Drogba has not left, he is a class striker and what we really need to do now is to rejuventate the squad and hopefully get in a new manager who can change the way we play, just like Zola did when he arrived at Chelsea as a player and just like Mourinho did

This is certainly an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan, new manager and new players coming in... cant wait for next season to begin

I have been hearing rumours on and off about Kevin De Bruyne too, suprised he has not been discussed at all in this thread, what are all your opinions on him?
