Benfica goal proof Cech is not the world class keeper he used to be... still a good keep but not world class, this is why you have to give Courtois a run in the team.

Pretty dire performance from Chelsea, scraped through against a 10 man Benfica side who had midfielders as defenders and subbed their key players as they thought tie was over.

I laughed. Hard.

yet again one of the most unfair matches I have ever seen, with 10 men all second half and we still managed to be great.

There is nothing that I can point out to talk bad about Benfica, they were HUGE.

I'm rooting for you against Barcelona but if you play like this against Barcelona prepare to change at 5 and end at 10.

ALWAYS BENFICA!

Hardly great. Your profligacy was shocking.

I laughed. Hard.

Not that absurd. There's a reason AVB was rumoured to be in the market for a new 'keeper.

I assume you wear glasses, considering the time you spend on this forum.

But on our part, if you still maintain that opinion after all the adversities of this second game, and the way we played through it, I advise you too get better ones or perhaps updgrade the lense.

If you're going to start throwing insults. Leave.

Subtle, if you guys play like that vs Barca, you are going to get mauled to death.

Why do I still try to discuss football with these people .___. I am so **** stubborn I know, it pains me.

Hoping you win against Barcelona, but once again, get your game up or it won't be pretty, being an underserved winner for two european games in a row is too much.

I think Chelsea will treat the Barcelona tie slightly different, no offence intended to Benfica. Tonight Chelsea looked half asleep throughout.

You are one of the very few people who still think Cech is the keeper he once was, yes he is still a good keeper, but take a look at Benfica goal, where was Cech?

its hardly Petr's mistake, or at least its not entirely his fault. Garcia was all alone there, you cant leave a player alone in the six yard box. and ffs, even the best GK's let those goals in sometimes. your point is completely irrelevant.

Im not saying he is the best GK, im saying he is valuable and he is still class. one goal doesnt prove me wrong.

I understand what you are saying, but their dozing off could have perfectly got them a sour stomach pain. Lady luck smiled yet again. I'm still proud, this comes in a crucial time too, since the League is completely tight and we need to concentrate our efforts, still incredible to end up with 10 and a left defender in the center, a defensive midfielder in the center, and a center mid in the right back, and always pushing on. They gave it their all, nothing to point at them.

It was his mistake. He should have cleared the ball, it was so close to him and he hardly moved. It was in his area. Should be commanding his area better than that.

And I dont understand why Benfica fan is saying game was unfair. First leg Benfica were denied clear penalty but this game there were hardly any controversial calls.

I understand it is his area, but how the **** we let Garcia be all alone there? It cannot happen, so I say its not completely his fault.

I'd put him under Casillas and Neuer on my list. Cant think of any others that beat him. Thats my opinion.

I would put Buffon above them all, he is the best keeper in the world at the moment in my opinion. Should see some of his saves this season in Serie A, he is half the reason why Juve are unbeaten so far in the league.

Relating back to this thread, I think Di Matteo got the approach all wrong tonight at the start of the game.

100% agree. Our best hope is for Essien to put in one of his massive performances as Mikel proved tonight that he can't keep an AM in his pocket and Romeu is prone to getting dribbled. If want to win we'll need to press relentlessly and take our chances. I doubt we'll do it but we're probably the team best suited to beating them if we really put everything in.

Overall though, we deserved the win tonight. Not sure what planet Benficacoach is living on if he thinks that luck as the deciding factor because both teams were frankly ***** in front of goal but we had the defensive discipline to match our attacking thrust, Benfica did not. It's a mata of balance and they just couldn't defend to save their lives, a bit like Napoli.

He should have punched it anyways. It was good timing run by Garcia tbh. But like I said 100% Cech's fault.

Casillas
Valdez
Reina
Neuer
Hart
Szczesney
Lloris
Buffon

Off the top of my head, probably more. Cech's been pretty poor this season, letting in a lot of shots he should have saved, especially at his near post.

Strange thing was Mikel kept Aimar in his backpocket in the first leg so much so that Aimar got subbed after 70 mins ish (can't remember completely).

Tonight, thought Aimar seemed to be the main problem and Mikel had no control.
