Tbh, that terrible miss aside, Torres did improve significantly when Rafa came. He gets into positions. He takes the shots. He finds the target. 20-25 at the end of season is looking completely doable, and is nothing to rant about.

The only question now is if he can do it consistently vs. tougher sides.

I can completely understand the frustation of watching someone like RVP constantly hammer crucial goals , though.

His shot count is 2.3 a game. Should be almost double that.

I'm not going to lie, as a neutral the only reason to watch Chelsea right now is so i can laugh how a team can be CL winner, blow 75 milion on transfers and still have completely no shape, style , no tactical indentiy of its own.

Its like watching those *** vs. Rest of the World/World's Best XI games that would have 11 random players who've never met before fly in from all over the planet for a charity match.

That's because we signed young players to try and change the whole way we play which takes time. Doesn't help when you have a trigger happy owner who knows **** all about football in general.

Its a rather big problem that fans point to players like Mikel whenever we lose. Scapegoats already picked out in case of a loss.

And yes I do the same with Torres although everyone can agree that Torres is truly **** while Mikel on the other hand is rather good.

We have 3 scapegoats in the team Mikel, Luiz and Torres. Everyone else gets a free pass to make as many errors as they ****** well like especially the "old guard".

Add Sturridge and the list is complete.

Any other Chelsea fans slightly worried about tonights game? On paper we should be winning quite comfortably but Leeds are certainly capable of an upset especially at their place and the way things have gone for us lately I am not as confident as I usually would be when facing a championship club in a cup game.

Not confident one tiny bit! Without JT, Cahill, Ramires and Mikel not a chance will i be confident lol. I just tweeted Victor Moses basically saying you NEED to tell the lads how important it is we do not lose tonight, if we do xmas is cancelled lol.

A scrappy 1-0 win and I will be happy.

Ah ****, that's a flimsy midfield. I can Oscar getting battered. :(

Funnily enough Oscar has shown especially to me that he can handle himself in this country so i don't worry about him too much. The only time he seemed to struggle was when it was hail stoning in Wales when we played Swansea, now that is a culture shock lol.

He certainly likes to get stuck which is great to get stuck in, the problem I think he might have is if the Leeds midfield decide to just kick the living **** out of him. He can be as determined as wants, and he is surprisingly strong sometimes, but there's no way he can stand up to some of those guys physically.

I'd fancy a bet on Leeds tonight if I was a betting man.. Jet lagged team at Elland Road will be tough.

I am a bit worried with him vs Brown!!!!

Rafa's ready made excuse.

Apparently JT has travelled with the squad raising questions that he may play some part tonight!

To be fair it's a pretty valid one. Trouble already between fans says twitter, not sure how reliable.

absolutely buzzing for the game tonight. Have slight optimism we can pull off an upset. Also very interested to see how much of a weakened team both Chelsea and Leeds put out (we're resting players for boro game at weekend). Lucky Austin is injured otherwise he would physically destroy oscar ;)

Leeds are a lot more physical than anyone Oscar has played against for Chelsea. They will defo target him and I can see him being kicked to ****

Chelsea fans making jetlag excuses already?

Ra ra rafael benitez

I understand that but i challenge anyone who always says "that Brazilian can't hack the physicality of the English game". Some games in Brazil especially derby's are filth! Oscar has proven he can put his foot in and wont shy away from a challenge, this is something different thought i admit.

I'm not making that excuse! When i went to Lloret De Mar a day or two into the holiday me and my mates played a beach match against a group of Italians and won!

My latest blog for anyone who has a boring life and wants to waste another 5 minutes.

Who’s really to Blame in Club vs Legend Contract Row?

Luckily enough for all us who support Chelsea this day and age we have a whole host of cult hero’s who we all love and will do forever for their contribution to the team. Players such as Ballack, Desailly, Ferreira, Le Saux, Alex and so on and so forth. Cult hero’s are players who gave the club a great service while with us giving their all in every match and/or have a good relationship with the fans. Legends on the other hand normally come once in a blue moon, Osgood, Harris, Bonetti and Dixon to name the most well known and agreed upon with fans. That was until Chelsea was bought by Roman back in 2003 and rapidly changed this side from steady Premier League side to a globally feared side winning trophies like never before. Winning trophies with certain players playing certain roles will bring the “legend” word out more often between us fans and there we have a batch at the club currently.

Obviously the recently departed Drogba is classed as a legend for what he did for the club I would say even before the goal and penalty in Munich. I also think most would agree current club players Cech, Cole, Terry and Lampard are legends and don’t think that can even be disputed. My main focus here is on the “if your 30 or over you only get a year extension” policy our club seems to have and whether it should change if you’re a club legend.

As we all know both Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard’s contract is up in the summer making them available to join any club they wished for free and even able to agree terms in January. This obviously has angered most fans, as many believe they deserve what ever they want for the service they have given to this club and I not necessarily disagree with them. But when I write things I do like to try and look at things from the other side to raise talking points and just to give people another point of view instead of having tunnel vision which we all can be guilty of at times. The first thing is to ask whether we think either player is worthy of a new contract i.e. can they still play at this level. Although Lampard should not be first choice anymore he can be a massive asset to us in helping the youth players and what a sub to have if we need a goal. Ashley Cole on the other hand is still the most consistent player in our squad and arguable the best left back on the planet still so there is no question whether he can cut it or not at this level still.

Going by various reports together both players are rumoured to be earning around £260,000 a week before bonuses. So that’s 1.4 million every month before bonuses and a staggering 12.4 million a year again before bonuses. With FFP (financial fair play) in process now and the club paying off transfers yearly this could go towards paying them off or any other potential new signings in the future.

I believe as they are getting older they should take a pay cut as they are in a nice way being phased out of the team playing less of a key part than the past so maybe they do not want to take a pay cut? My argument would be why not take a year extension with a slightly reduced wage prove yourself in that year and earn yourself that second year you so badly want.

My view is that both will end up leaving SW6 in the summer with Frank going off to the MLS playing for LA Galaxy and for Cole it’s open. If Ancelotti is still PSG manager then that is an option but I suspect he still wants to stay in England and how much will it hurt seeing him play for another side in England. The only way I can see one or both of them staying is if the summer sees the re-arrival of the special one. I wouldn’t be surprised if both players sign a one year reduced waged deal if offered one quite simply because he is that special.

Thank you for reading and have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
