I do agree but there getting older and possibly starting to lose their touch, You have good youth but are they really the next drogbas and terrys and lampards? If you look at united with the signings of phil jones, smalling and young, they are bringing in the best young english players of the next few years, it freshens the squad up and keeps competition for places high, I think something similar is needed at chelsea otherwise I can see you falling behind united
Thats what we have been doing tbh... this summer we signed players with a eye on our long-term future such as Oriol Romeu, Courtois and now Lukaku other than that we have some great talent in our Academy, I do not think we are as far behind from United and Arsenal in terms of Youth Talent as people make out... our only real problem is in the development area, we certainly have to improve the way we develop our players and give them more opportunities and this is certainly something which Manchester United and Arsenal have perfected in doing because we all saw the shambles of what happened last season when we tried to introduce all our Youth Talent too quickly and it self-imploded in our faces
I have always maintained that our team ideally should be made up of a core of very good and very experienced players whilst the young talented players play around then in the squad and if you look at teams such as United, this is what they have done most of the time and evidently it has been very sucessfull for them
Just to name you some of our exciting prospects we have players like:
Daniel Sturridge- Very well-known, proven PL Striker
Josh M.- Very highly-rated by many people including AVB and the Chelsea Squad... all the Chelsea Senior Players call him the 'Blue Iniesta'
Jeffrey Bruma- Senior Holland International, we sent him on loan to Hamurg where he can continue his development
Romelu Lukaku- As you know proven Striker in the Belgium League and touted as the next 'Drogba'
Thibaut Courtois- A very highly-rated keeper who will be the No. 1 Goalkeeper for At Madrid this season where we have sent him on loan to continue his development
Oriol Romeu- Made his debut for the senior Barcelona Team at the end of last season and has always been touted by the Barca staff as someone very special, we bought him this sumer
Kalas- Made quite a few apps for us this Pre-Season, looked solid and is evidently rated by AVB
Paddy Van Anholt- Very talented Left-Back, will be acting as cover for Ashley Cole the coming season hopefully
Ryan Bertrand- Another talented Left-Back, some people also call him the next 'Ashley Cole'
Nathan Ake- A 15 year old youngster we brought from Feyernood and is described as 'technically brilliant' by our staff, involved for Holland at the U-17 level
Liam Baker- Another versatile midfielder who plays for England at the U-17 Level
Nathaniel Chalobah- Captain of the England U-17 Team and a very good CB, highly rated by AVB
Lucas Piazon- Just bought this chap from Brazi and he was voted player of the tournament in the U-17 South American Championships
Connor Clifford- Was called up to the Senior Republic of Ireland Squad recently, good midfielder who hopefully goes on loan this season
Todd Kane- A right Back who hits some truly magnificent goals
Philipp Prosenik- Was highly-rated when he joined but injuries hampered his progress, lets see what happens to him
Rajkovic- A very good CB who has been on loan to several Dutch Clubs as he has not been able to secure a WP to play for us, his case is still pending as I write
Now I am not saying all of them will make it to the Chelsea First-Team, thats highly improbable but I do believe that these set of youngsters can be PL Standard players one day at least and hopefully the club focuses on their development and gives these players the opportunities they deserve
