I like how all the Chelsea fans except for Subtle have disappeared from FM-Base all of a sudden. :D

Have they? I've been on - I posted in the match thread after the game (wasn't on while the game was on because I like to concentrate on the game) - just because they aren't posting doesn't mean they aren't here. And I've been switching through tabs because I'm watching Bayern, so haven't been posting, just reading.

On a positive note, thank **** Blueheart isn't around eh?

ahh Arsenal deserved to win.. we played horribly in the second half, In AVB we trust

That second half was woeful, we seemed to lose all desire to win it. Terribly overhit back by Malouda (who else?) put Terry under pressure. Torres might as well not have been there. The defence looks shocking and Mikel didn't do a great job of shielding them. The attack (excluding Mata) was poor: you can't be that wasteful against a terrible defence if you want to challenge for the title.

All in all, pretty ****. However, we've let ourselves get a bit carried away this season: this was always meant to be the start of our rebirth, not the finished product. Hopefully the club will press on in January/the summer and we'll get a creative CM, a new RB, a new CB perhaps and possibly a wide right player (Sturridge has a lot of potential but he's nowhere near worldclass atm and I can't see him being there for quite some time)

Honestly I dont think I am pressing the panic button, we need to improve the quality of our squad anyhow.. top priority should be a Creative CM, dont think we need a CB but a new RB is a must as well as a new winger, kudos to Jamie, he has been saying it all along that we need new players, Mata is not enough

Anyhow...

Ganso, Gotze and a new RB would do nicely

Giovinco, Pereira, Reus, Ocampos, Markovic and Vitor Gomes would be my ideal (And realistic shopping list) for January.

All the players are 'get-able' and between Reus/Pereira/Giovinco we would have a lot of option both wide and inside in the CAM position and all of them, perhaps bar Pereira, will have resale value.

But a backup right back, competition, for Bosingwa at a reasonable price would have to be Vitor Gomes who is having a storming season and would cost no more than 7 million.

I'm doubtful AVB will buy a creative midfielder simply because where will that leave Meireles/Lampard in his system?

Brendan Rodgers has been speaking about loaning McEachran as well, he says he wants to sit down with Chelsea and discuss loaning him because he thinks he can be a star. Hopefully come January McEachran will be playing regularly for Swansea, him and Britton would be a pretty fearsome midfield combination.

We need a new back-up for Bosingwa most definitely and I still think we could do with more creativity in the final third, our play is still to slow and still lacks vision and coherence... Sturridge is good but someone lie Hazard or Gotze would be so much better on the right plus we need to offload deadwood in January, we need better quality on our bench than the likes of Malouda

I just feel its more the case that hardly any of our players bar Mata, Ramires and a few others are ideal for the way AVB wants to play, AVB certainly needs to go out and buy some players in January or go for a tactical overhaul

Some of you think im pushing the panic button but today's performance showed me the inefffectiveness of this tactic against good teams, one thing is for certain, we need to improve the quality of our bench and defence and get some more creativity in the final third

Roman get your cheque book out, January cant come soon enough

Oi, dont give all the kudos to him! Been saying the same thing for months. thing is you do have a creative CM (albeit a young one) he's about to go on loan to swansea. You wont get one, because to that signals the end of lampard as a starter. That is the choice AVB must make

fine Kudos to Mikey too... tbh I dont mind replacing Lamps in the starting 11, he brings goals to the midfield but contributes very little in the build-up and we could definitely do with some more creativity in the final third, soon enough teams will start to shackle Mata and we might as say ciao to our hopes of winning a trophy this season

Gotze/Hazarda along with Ganso, Vitor Gomez and Perreira in
Kalou and Malouda out

win

Don't give Mike. all the credit, I've been saying it for months and in a much more eloquent and structured way! ;) In fact, I said it in April.

Strange they've all been linked with us in the past week (apart from Reus I think) ;)

But, Reus is a good suggestion I'd definitely take him. I would obviously love either Hazard or Gotze, but they will be a lot harder to get and will cost a lot more than Reus.

Personally I would buy 2 new attacking players - that can play anywhere in the 3 of a 4-2-3-1, and then we could also use them on the wings in a 4-3-3. I'd go for Hazard/Gotze and Reus, but like I say Gotze and Hazard would cost a lot, and aren't as likely to happen, but I can dream.

You're probably thinking - where does that leave Sturridge? Well, he could still get quite a lot of games even with 2 new attacking players, and let's be honest he still has some work to do, while Reus, Gotze, and Hazard are all more versatile, and complete players at this moment in time. I'd switch him around with Reus depending on the opponent, and then also play him instead of Hazard/Gotze, and Mata when they need to be rested, or if they are out-of-form.

For the deeper players I think we have more than enough players to play a 4-2-3-1, or 4-3-3, and when playing 4-2-3-1 we could also play Lamps more advanced if needed, but it would most likely affect our play because he isn't as versatile, so we couldn't have the 3 attacking players all interchanging.

Defensively I don't see a problem with the players we have; it's just that AVB has the mentality "score more goals than the opponent". Saying that though like Jamie and Alcaraz have said I also feel a new, younger RB is needed to rotate with Bosingwa.

With the strikers it's a difficult one because it all depends on who goes. If say Kalou, Anelka and Drogba went, then I'd say Lukaku can replace Drogba, Sturridge to replace Anelka, and then I'm not sure if Kalou leaves because he hasn't been playing much, so we could use a youngster instead (Lalkovic can play striker, or wing like Kalou, but not sure whether he's quite ready yet), or we could replace Kalou with Studge, and then replace Anelka with somebody like Seydou Doumbia, who may not demand a starting spot as long as he plays his fair share of games.

I said it too ;)

To be honest I think Luiz on the wing would be more useful than Kalou/Malouda/Anelka.

i actually think a 4-2-3-1 is better for Chelsea in the long term

Yes, a lot better. If you look at the young players that we have coming through - nearly all of them suit a 4-2-3-1 rather than a 4-3-3. I mean where could the likes of Piazon and Davila play in a 4-3-3? I don't think they could, and AVB must know that, so he needs to change to it as soon as possible - when we have the personnel that is, I wouldn't want to switch to it now because we need another player who can play in the 3 of a 4-2-3-1.

I truly believe this is Lampards last season for that basis

If all of this comes true, I might have to consider a D&C article entitled: "Five ways I was right, dammit"

Almost certainly as a regular. Possibly as a Chelsea footballer

Yeah, I think this is his last season as a regular too, only time will tell whether he'll be a Chelsea player next year though.
