One thing is for certain.. one way or the other we need to bring new blood in January if we are to remain serious title contenders this season

Spanish release clauses are a bit different, the club have the option to sell when it's met not necessarily an automatic trigger that clubs in Portugal/England/Italy have. Basically when that clause is met two things happen 1) The club accept or 2) the club sit down with the player and his agent and renegotiate terms of his contract.

On the Ocampos release clause, I'm pretty sure river would renegotiate that by next summer especially if they do get promoted. And the description of him, sounds a lot like a young Ronaldo to me...

Think Europe needs to let him stay at River for a couple of years though, the downside being that those 2 years of development in Argentina will probably mean when he does come over his physical build will need to be worked up and taken off of that famous red meat diet.

Well, I'm pretty sure when the release clause is met the club can always offer a new contract to the player to try and make him stay, I doubt that's exclusive to Spain.

On Ocampos, the contract was signed earlier this year, so I don't think he'll be signing a new one so soon. Of course it depends a lot on the loyalty of the player, but it's unlikely. Then again, Passarella said they'll try to keep most of the squad together if they get promoted (which is likely), although their debt hasn't been dealt with yet.

Alex Kiwomya banged in a couple of goals in our 4-2 win over Fulham U-18s... certainly one for the future this lad and on a side note, Piazon made his competitive debut for us in the match, he was impressive according to onlookers

Roma once turned down a €70million (£60m) offer from Chelsea for midfielder Daniele De Rossi, according to club director Bruno Conti.

The 28-year-old Italian is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico, with both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid among those thought to be interested.

The Serie A club have been locked in talks with De Rossi over an extension and are hopeful of keeping him in the capital.

Conti maintains the midfielder will not depart Roma and claims the club previously rejected a big-money offer from Chelsea for his services.

"De Rossi will stay at Roma, no doubt about it," Conti told Radio Mana Mana.

"I would like to remind people of the following: Chelsea offered €70m for him, a lot of money, but [then president] Rosella Sensi turned it down." Blues saw De Rossi bid snubbed | Chelsea News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports

Thoughts on this?

Roma were very brave to turn that down with De Rossi's contract up in 2012

******* to that. No chance that a) Chelsea would offer 60m and b) Roma would turn it down.

Im willing to bet it happened but that included his wages. more likely 30m with a 5 year 30m deal

A few stats for the game Sunday.
  • Kalou's next appearence from the bench will be his 100th for the club as a substitute, a total not achieved by any other Chelsea player
  • The three Liverpool goals against Chelsea last season were scored by Fernando Torres and Raul Meireles, both now at Stamford Bridge
  • From 2006-2011 Lampard has created the 3rd most chances in Europe with 452 chances created. He is behind Fabregas(466) and Xavi(455)
  • Ranieri, Mourinho, Grant, Hiddink and Ancelotti have all recorded a victory over Liverpool in their first attempt as Chelsea manager
  • Chelsea have kept 30 cleansheets in 78 games at home to Liverpool

Seriously Liverpool lol you really dont have much faith in your fans do you lol some would say you are fitting the right sterotype lol.

Liverpool supporters travelling to Chelsea over the coming weeks should note the following statement from LFC:

"Liverpool Football Club would like to remind supporters who have purchased tickets for both the Barclays Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday and the Chelsea Carling Cup fifth round game on 29 November to ensure they take the correct tickets with them when travelling this Sunday.
"Supporters who take the incorrect tickets with them will experience difficulty in entering Stamford Bridge.
"Liverpool Football Club cannot accept liability should supporters take the incorrect tickets with them."

'Supporters who take the incorrect tickets with them will experience difficulty in entering Stamford Bridge'.

Epic.

Btw - According to AS, Chelsea are lining up a 50m move for Higuaín, whom Roman intends to tempt by making him 'one of the highest-paid forwards in the world', considering the fact that he is the lowest earner among Real's forwards.

Can't see him wanting to leave (he's a regular for Real) or them wanting to sell tbh (he's been in pretty good form this season) I also think we have greater problems at rightback and central midfield that need sorting first.

I don't think he'd want to leave, but there's a chance they would sell, because Higuaín was bought by Calderón, and Florentino would be interested in ridding himself of his predecessor's players.

Why would Chelsea need ANOTHER striker? They've already got their first-choice in Torres, their experienced vet in Drogba and a young up-and-comer in Lukaku. Sturridge too.

I agree why splash out another 50 mil on another striker when we have Sturridge who has been playing well this season and Lukaku who has tons of potential and could be a regular in a couple of years.
