He was good mate, but imo not good enough for top teams. Given the choice I would have Alex over him any day of the week.

I like Alex alot but he is not the strongest positional sence wise. The lad hasen't even kicked a ball yet in a Chelsea shirt so lets give him a chance before we judge him.

When it comes to teh basics of defending, he has that bad. Passing becomes somewhat irrelevant if he is shipping you goals, as we know with evans (who is an incredibly accurate passer)

Already he is a better defender than Evans thats a given. Difference is he has players at Chelsea who can do all the other things unlike at Bolton.

Your side is still inherently selfish on the ball, which is why he sees it so little.

selfish is too soft word.. we absolutely undoubtedly, unquestionably need a playmaker like xavi, who sprays passes to Torres + Mata supporting him as well = Torres at his peak again.

Yeah that is a reason why at times he does run out wide so he can recieve the ball but then if he does recieve it he doesnt have a chance of scoring unless he does some sort of Messi run lol.

Im not even convinced we need that, i'd be happy with a proper left winger so that Mata can play in behind Torres and supply him. Sounds stupid now but we could really do with someone like Zhirkov, someone who tries to beat players, gets to the byline and crosses.

again the latter is debateable. on both accounts. Evans has been woeful in parts and yet has still had better games in the last year

that could work as well :) Mata in centre at #10 position and here we go :)

Watching him i think he lacks common sence for defending, ok for back-up but nothing more.

Lmao, there's nothing wrong with his finishing. It's the setup around him as well as his confidence and support.

I'd have taken him at united. I think he would have revelled in our kind of play and having someone like Rooney in close support

Even I would have taken him at United but not anymore after watching Welbeck playing so well.

On Evans and Cahill part, give me Evans any day of the week. He had poor season which was even magnified as he plays for the bigger club where your every move is under scrutiny. He made mistakes but no more than Cahill and Evans ability on ball is so underrated.

I think Cahill's overrated but Evans... well, let's say on his day he's good, but his day seems to be the 29th of February. I'd easily take Cahill over Evans.

This season Evans has done very well. Very few mistakes and overall he has done very well. Shame he wont be getting the hype as he is the scape goat for United fans and he is not English so media wont pick him up unless he does a Vidic.

It's got little (if anything) to do with him being English and a lot to do with him being ****, IMO.

How **** was he this season? Hope you have watched our games rather than just reading forums or other blogs.

Admittedly I haven't watched that much of United this season, but he's played what, 10 games this season? And got himself sent off against City. Even if the rest were 'decent' games he's played some 80? games for United in his career and he's been below par. He's not a good tackler, his positioning isn't the best, he's not good at anticipating situations, his heading isn't good... He's a lower mid table defender, at best.

is there any interview with Cahill?? heard nothing from him about the move.. come on GIGI, BEN, LEE, NEIL !!!!!! It has to be Neil though :D

That's the only bad game he had, rest all he was good. Much better than Cahill. And if you had watched Evans in his first 2 seasons then you would have known he was not below par. He was average for 18 months before and after that he did well. And apart from heading part you are wrong on everything. He is a good tackler, his positioning is good not great but good. He reads the game well that's one of the reason he is getting forward many times this season. Breaking up play and bombing forward.

Edit: Not to forget in his debut season he was one of our mainstays in our run of record number of clean sheets. Even this season he has around 8 clean sheets out of 13. And he struggles against physically beast strikers, strangely he kept Ibra and Drogba in his back pocket on his debut season. (Drogba maybe in second season).

Well you started with you haven't watched much of United, so no point in continuing this.
