A pragmatic win, can't complain about that considering that's what we've all wanted for a while. I don't like it when people put a team down for sitting back and striking on the counter, it's a perfectly valid plan and Benfica had no answer to it. We were tight and efficient and we looked dangerous on the break and on set pieces. It's not like we played "negative" football and tried to foul them off the pitch and stop anything from happening whatsoever, we were pretty solid going forward , although we need to work on that 2nd man pass (got it out from defence a good number of times, but whatever winger/midfielder got it generally misplaced his pass to the man in the better position)
Benfica played a fairly incisive game but as Neville pointed out at some point in the first half, we pressed well and kept our shape forcing them to play alot of quick balls and to really rush chances. All in all, exciting game to watch, Benfica probably deserved a goal on the balance of things but if things worked that way Liverpool would be 4th.
