Anyways not sure who or why this argument began... Good result today and hopefully we do well under Benitez against Fulham midweek.

This is where Chelsea fans

Except i'm not.

AVB did his own thing?

I don't recall mentioning any names.

And RDM was similar; he played quite attractive football

Maybe it was attractive to you. To me it was like something from the 80s. Give front 4 freedom to roam and hope it looks attractive.

Abramovich demands this 'sexy football' with a team incapable of doing so

Wait, first you say AVB and RDM played attractive, and now you say the entire team cant play attractive. Make up your mind.

Abramovich thinks that just because Hazard was brought in, suddenly his team is transformed and he can expect his manager to play attacking football and win every single trophy. In 1 season.

That's not true at all. I think he would be fine with just smoothly securing Champions League for few seasons, while club is in transition. But being busted in CL group stages is huge embarassment, new style or not. Even Mourinho said it, if it happened to Real, he would be fired instantly no questions asked.

Yes but my point is that under AVB the club was really suffering. His relationships with the players had become irreparable. We were on the brink of elimination from the CL and FA Cup. We were drifting away from a top 4 spot. AVB was given more time than previous managers to turn things around but when things became so bad, there is little choice left.

He wasnt given more time, you might argue all other points, but he wasnt given more time at all.

Compared to previous managers, Roman did give AVB more time Mike which is not much at all but relatively..

Chelsea nearly ruined AVB's career, reduced from being a highly praised young manager to a mere joke. One of the few reason's why I detest the Chelsea players as well as the chairman himself. Still, now they have to stick behind Rafa, who imo will fail spectacularly.

How? I thought I had already debunked that one?

Apart from Hiddink, who was only brought in until the rest of the season, Scolari was the only manager in the RA reign to be given less games, and even that was only four games less.

He didnt, but even then that's like saying "I didnt break every bone in my body, just most of them" It's still bad. the clubs actions do not sell themselves to Pep. In the same way RDM should have the season, so should AVB.

Anyway, fans need to swallow their hate and back Rafa, best way to get rid of him is for him to be successful.

Oh and I agree with GC's outburst about the 16th min applause. Just no.

What exactly happened with that-didn't see/hear the match so no idea what happened?

Villa fans are currently running a 'Stand Up for Stan' campaign in honour of club captain Stiliyan Petrov. It involves standing up in the 19th minute of each match - 19 being Petrov's shirt number - and applauding. Many opposition fans have also taken part, good sports that they are.

Chelsea fans, of course, take this idea and rip all the meaning out of it, doing some ****** up 'stand up for Di Matteo' bullshit in the 16th minute of their match today. As I said earlier, this isn't a 'trendy' thing to so. Our captain has cancer. Chelsea's manager got sacked. There's no comparing the two, and it ****** me off.

Remember when Petrov got cancer last year whilst at Villa and they did the applause on the minute representing the number of his shirt?

Chelsea fans did it today on Di Matteo's number.

AVB sacking was not that controversial, seems a lot of you forgot all the drama that happened prior to the sacking, alienating the team, juicy "anonymous" leaks to the press, Lamps and the gang being openly against him, and so on. Under the circumstances its a miracle he stayed around until March, which is what i think Alcaraz meant.

Christ almighty. Only the most stupid, ignorant..whatever type "people" would do something so incredibly blackhearted, sickening, disgusting....whatever words that are available for foul minded morons. You were without doubt bang on-I would without doubt have gone ballistic but on a much larger scale to be honest.

Just amazing how anyone can compare the two.

Players are still being alienated now... Malouda. "Lamps and the gang" being against him was the main problem.... you can't be against your own manager at a football club and get away with it. Well at Chelsea you can.

"You're not welcome here, you're not welcome here, f*** off Benitez, you're not welcome here" form the Matthew Harding End.

What bellends.

Can I just ask then, with genuine interest.

Why treat Benitez like that? Why not vent at Abramovich? It makes no sense.

They treat him like that because of previous comments not just against our club but mainly at our fans. And there was a demonstration walk to the stadium which aired views against the board so they did air their anger at Roman and co.

Also Rafa has been appointed on an 'interim' basis... So unless he delivers the CL or EPl he knows as well as anyone that he is gone next summer and he has accepted that by signing this contract.

It wasn't enough for Robbie to stay on a long term so why would it be for Rafa lol. If Roman has something else in his mind then he will do it regardless.

Look i actually like you but this is just jumping on the latest bandwagon of slating Chelsea which i would accept but not towards the fans! Do you own the applauding of certain minutes as a football club? Was anyone saying, well Villa do it for their ill captain so we must do it for our sacked manager as its the same thing? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!!!!!

Now i will comment on the game of football as funnily enough there was one today and believe it or not haters Chelsea are a football team!!!

First clean sheet in a long time which is impressive after just 3 days working with Rafa and typical of a Rafa side i.e solid at the back. Get that right and I believe the rest will fall into place, maybe a few 1-0 wins until January when we NEED another striker. Whether that comes from a signing or a Lukaku recall it needs to happen just to give us another option. Special mentions to Ashley Cole and Cesar Azpilicueta today who I thought were sensational. Onwards and upwards, lets stand united and back this football team. I will add full praise to Luiz's performance today as we are quick to batter him when he plays poorly and i thought he we brilliant today. The 4 City strikers all had a go at us today and failed to find the net so i'll take that any day.

I agree, but isn't that #1 challenge when rapidly improving the club with tons of money? Suddenly there are big names coming to the club every year and its only natural if they start to attribute the success to themselves, rather than to manager.

Ibrahimovic is one of biggest "guns for hire" out there, and when he went to Barca he was shocked by how other players followed everything Guardiola wants without question. Clearly earlier in his mercenary career, he got used to getting his way.

Meanwhile in MU Fergie is so much above the players, he could start playing me instead of RVP and while it would definitely raise a few eyebrows i doubt anyone would openly disagree.

I said from his first press conference AVB made a monumental mistake. When he said i will not sell anyone as everyone will get a chance to prove themselves. If he knew anything about the previous season there was atleast 4-5 players who did not merit another chance and needed to go.

What a ridiculous attitude to have towards the 16 minute thing. It wasn't anything to do with Petrov and his illness it was just a show of respect to Di Matteo because as you all know not many agree'd with the sacking..
Most of what you say is spot on GC/Mike but this is stupid. In fact I'd go as far as saying you're being petty.

Can't believe our fans applauded for a minute before the game in honour of Dave Sexton how disrespectful is that to the other clubs! Starting to get very petty on here towards Chelsea and it's actually a mixture of annoying and very laughable.

Thats the point. The 19th minute applause was done because a player has cancer. You're using it because a manager got got sacked...
As for petty; given the treatment of benitez. Pot. Kettle. Black.
