well that game ended in disappointment... was absolutly ecstatic at half time and actually thought we could win. Then we got tired and Chelsea started to play a bit better. Ashdown had a great game but he should have saved that first goal, was a real blow to team's confidence. Wish we could have had Austin playing, would have given midfield more structure. Was overwhelmed too easily. Think 3-1 would have been a fair result, 5-1 was a little harsh. Oh well Quarters is still a great achievement
P.S. Chelsea support was ***** ;)

I underestimated getting Benteke'd. Prepare your arseholes, Benteke is coming.

I wonder if Benteke will have his own form of Tekkers: "Bentekkers"... I'll get my coat.

Should... should someone tell him the name Bentekkers has been around since before he even signed for the club?

So why do you reckon we are selling Sturridge? A lot of wages will be freed up with the departures of Lampard, Cole, Malouda, Ferreira and now Sturridge either in January or over the summer. Hopefully we make the right moves in the forthcoming transfer windows.

He doesn't seem to want to play out wide, demands high wages and isn't that clinical when played through the middle.

It's quite a lot of money. I guess the club also doesn't think he's good enough to be a central striker and he's not willing to play out on the wing anymore. It's a shame because the guy has a lot of potential, but we basically replaced him when we bought Moses. I think he can be a very good player, but if he isn't willing to compromise, getting £12m plus his wages for him is a pretty good deal.

To be fair, Sturridge never really got a proper run as a centre-forward. I suppose his sale all but confirms we will be bringing in a central striker next month.

Completely forgot Benayoun is going next summer as well. That's another 90k p/w in wages freed up.

If it happens that is, people have been saying they're having issues agreeing on a contract.

That's harsh to say considering he has never had a proper run upfront for Chelsea. Infact the last time he had a run upfront was at Bolton and look what happened there, we have done to him what Arsenal done to Theo.
